Yes. I had a serious ankle break a couple years ago and was still pretty immobile come Christmas. My church does caroling to "shut-ins" and I made the list that year. It was actually rather embarrassing and I kinda hated standing there while people sang at me.
in the new sequel to A Christmas Story some carolers come to the house and mom is like "GET DOWN!!! TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!!! If they see us they'll never stop!". Basically how my mom always reacted if Jehovah's Witnesses came to our door.
I lived in the middle of nowhere growing up, so no carolers. I think it's nice to listen to them performing somewhere but it would be so awkward to have to stand and listen to them on my porch.

Never have here and I don't remember anyone coming to my parents house either. I vaguely remember going with my cousins on my dad's side one time? That side LOVES music and part of our Christmas celebration has always been singing, so it made sense, haha.
I legit can't stop thinking about caroling at people leaving their houses 🤣 I'm just envisioning being chased by a singing group of strangers as I try to get to my car to go somewhere. It's cracking me up but also horrifying to my introverted self.
The neighborhood I grew up in had carolers. But it was announced in advance in the neighborhood newsletter.
The neighborhood where we live now has an organized "get together in the parking lot of this auto repair shop and sing, cider and hot chocolate will be served" event. People don't go house to house.

We had them one time! And it just so happened we were having a family Xmas party at the same time. We all loved it! But we never had any carolers come back again

It's like the scene in the latest Grinch movie where the carolers are chasing him, singing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. My husband loves that scene.
We celebrate Santa Lucia (my mom is from Sweden) and last year we went to a few of our neighbor's houses that night with my daughter dressed up with her crown of candles, and my son dressed as a little tomten. We sang the Swedish Lucia song and then We wish You a Merry Christmas, and gave them a plate of treats. We only went to neighbors we know fairly well, everyone seemed to enjoy it but according to this thread we probably just made all our neighbors deeply uncomfortable. Oh well. 🙃
Most people wanted to take a picture of the kids dressed up, one of our neighbors is a single guy and he really wanted us to come inside and visit with him for a bit. We didn't do it this year because we had other plans on actual Lucia, but I was thinking about getting her back in her crown to deliver treats to neighbors still.
