So, today is Day 5. Technically not after day 5. Negative test this morning. N95 in place. And I’m going home. Paxlovid is awesome!
Also, it appears this cruise was a super spreader event. Not surprised. But the FB group is full of people testing positive or feeling crappy with all the signs but a negative. So far, roughly half my friend group is positive.
Ugh. What ship? 😟
I’m glad you’re better. Follow up with your doctors!!
Well, it was The Rock Boat, a long-running full ship music charter. Lots of the same people every year, for 10, 15, 20 years. So quiet a bit different than a normal cruise. Also, NCL Pearl.
yes, I followed up with my PCP already. I was sending her mychart messages from the ship. 😂
Question for those who’ve had paxlovid - I’ve heard of metal mouth (minor issue, not that bad). But… is there something with smell? I keep thinking I smell burning rubber, or something like that. It’s followed me from the Miami airport to my living room. I’ve changed masks. WTF?!
The Biden administration plans to let the coronavirus public health emergency expire in May, the White House said on Monday, a sign that federal officials believe the pandemic has moved into a new, less dire phase. [it’s really not, they just don’t want to fund shit and want to do a capitalism]
The White House wants to keep the emergency in place for several more months so hospitals, health providers and health officials can prepare for a host of changes that will come when it ends, officials said. Millions of Americans have received free Covid tests, treatments and vaccines during the pandemic, and not all of that will continue to be free once the emergency is declared over.

Can’t wait to see what happens when everyone has to buy their own Paxlovid. 😬

Did I mention my cruise ship bill? $1284. The doctor, when he came back to tell me that there is actually a treatment and they do have paxlovid 🙄, was downplaying it as all we have is generic and it’s $800. But, I also had travel insurance because I was afraid this would happen. So I could get it.
ok, I’ve tested negative two days in a row. If I recall this is a milestone for something, but I don’t remember what… leaving isolation? Taking off my mask in my own house?
edit: found my answer. And yes, I can unmask!
After you have ended isolation, when you are feeling better (no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and symptoms improving),
Wear your mask through day 10. OR
If you have access to antigen tests, you should consider using them. With two sequential negative tests 48 hours apart, you may remove your mask sooner than day 10. Note: If your antigen test results1 are positive, you may still be infectious. You should continue wearing a mask and wait at least 48 hours before taking another test. Continue taking antigen tests at least 48 hours apart until you have two sequential negative results. This may mean you need to continue wearing a mask and testing beyond day 10.
