Neither kid is doing a school sport right now, which is awesome. They are both playing winter soccer with their club teams but it’s low key - one game in sundays. It’s glorious.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
DD2 had an indoor soccer game at 8am and a training session for another spring team at noon. She is thrilled to be back playing soccer.
My weekend got a lot easier when DD1 had a complete meltdown because I asked her to take the dog outside. I calmly told her that if she didn't do it, we would not go to the game. I'm one of 4 coaches - it's fine for me to miss. She continued to argue that she should not have to take the dog outside. I gave her three chances.
DD1 had an incredible conference swim meet. Her team defended their conference title, making them conference champs for 24 consecutive years now.
New best times in her 200 and 500 free. 200 free was a 5+ second time drop - freaking bananas. And she hasn't even tapered yet (but this was her first time suited this season). She placed 5th and 4th in her events, respectively, in the conference. Not bad for a freshman! Sectionals is in 2 weeks, I can't imagine an individual sectional title this year, but she may qualify for state on a relay.

DD1 is struggling with headaches lately. I get migraines and we’ve talked to her doctor, but it’s likely being worsened by hormones and I just feel bad for her. It’s really put a dent in her taekwondo time and prep for belt testing. Poor kiddo.
librarychica- my 10 yo is too. I got hormonal migraines on the first and last day of my period for a couple of decades. My neurologist recommended taking Advil starting the week before my period so it would build up in my system and prevent migraines. It worked really well for me. So I’m trying to help DD figure out the timing of her migraines so we can start preventing them if there’s a pattern. Unfortunately since she hasn’t started her period yet, right now it’s just random and crazy.
DD came home today bursting with excitement that she was chosen for the academic team that goes to a regional competition and then possibly on to state. She’s doing the “Maps, Graphs, and Charts” competition. Her bff was also chosen and is doing math and spelling. DD could have chosen a second topic but wanted to only study for one. I think that was wise.

mommyatty, yup, very similar situation. It sucks. I take a preventative and a second med for breakthrough migraines but I has a routine similar to yours before I found a preventative that worked well. Right now her doctor has her taking 400mg ibuprofen and caffeine as soon as she starts to notice it and we are working on watching for triggers/patterns too but like your daughter her period hasn’t started yet. Her 11yo hormones are just wacky.
And congrats to your daughter! That’s an amazing opportunity for her.
DD has been doing chess club after school through her school and is loving it. She isn't great at chess but enjoys the challenge. Yesterday she got invited by owl post to be a member of the Harry Potter club. Lunch meetings on Wednesdays starting next week. DD is so stinking excited. Both of these clubs are run by her school counselor.

Oh we used to have a HP club. They stopped it during covid and it hasn't come back. I wonder if it ever will bc of JK Rowling's commentary. But they played quidditch and had feasts and sorting hats and all that. The kids loved it.
DD1 had a game tonight with her school team (that I usually coach). I couldn’t go because COVID, so DH took her.
I guess the head coach sat her for the entire second half. DH said she didn’t have a great game, but our team was way ahead, and he usually tries to play everyone equally. DH said one of the other coaches tried to get her in and head coach told her not to worry, she’d go back in. She never did.
Head coach texted me after the game to say they won and he hoped that I felt better. Should I raise it? Wait until I see him? Wait until the next game to see if it happens again?
mae0111, Did DD1 say anything about not playing the 2nd half? If she didn't say anything, then I would just let it go for now. If it becomes a habit I would say something.

She did. She came home and cried. She was really embarrassed. If she didn’t seem to care I totally wouldn’t bring it up.
mae0111, I would bring it up. If she hadn’t done anything to be benched and another coach brought it to his attention, that’s just not okay. They aren’t gunning for the WNBA title. All kids ought to get about equal playing time.
