Anyone watching this? I didn't see a post yet so I thought I'd start one. I'm really liking this show. We're big fans of EOTWAWKI shows and I like that this one is less zombie and more character and plot development so far. I had no idea were the most recent episode was headed (was Frank a good guy? A bad guy?) but it ended up with me almost in tears. I'm still not sure how they continued to have gas for the generator after 20 years, but I'll let that slide.

Started watching because I'll watch anything with Pedro Pascal, but man what an incredible show so far. DH has played the games but hasn't stared the series yet, but the internet has a lot to say about how well the first two episodes followed the game, while ep. 3 veered away from it (in a way that probably 99% of gamers loved!). I have a general idea of what happens in the games so I'll be interested to see what changes and what doesn't.

I read about this (after I watched it) and I'm really glad they changed what they did for the show. I think it became a much more...hopeful? version, which the show kind of needed.

DH played the games and said that they were the most-emotional games he had ever played, so I had a general sense of the plot going into the series. I sobbed in the first episode and then cried harder during this one. I thought it was so beautifully done and didn't care that it veered completely away from the game, and neither did DH, which surprised me. I love seeing Bella Ramsey again because she killed it on GoT and she's killing it here, too.
I can’t STAND the fungal creatures, like I have to close my eyes. Aside from that I LOVE it! I watched ep 3 without my H and watched it again with him bc it was the most amazing, emotional and heartbreaking love story!!
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I really like it so far! I have no familiarity with the games, but I guess my H played them (it? is there more than one?) a while ago. I think the 3rd episode was lovely, but also kind of weird to spend so much time on a couple of characters who ended up dead by the end of it! Will they be really important later? I was starting to forget that it was the same show as the first two episodes.
I love Pedro Pascal. We recently watched Narcos so it was fun to see him again in another role. I think he's very talented.

These and generally the spaghetti stuff coming from all the zombie mouths disturb me far more than anything I've seen on TV recently. I feel triggered just thinking about them! I need to watch Episode 3 tonight.

I can handle a lot of gross things, but the stuff coming out of their mouths...barf. ESPECIALLY when
I'm loving this! Big GOT fan and I loved Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey so I'll watch anything with them in it and they're doing such a good job.
Episode 3 was incredible. When Bill found Frank in the hole I was SO TENSE thinking Frank was going to kill him. Huge sigh of relief when they jumped forward three years to their relationship spat. Their story was beautiful. I read about their video game relationship and I'm so glad they changed it.
Every episode has me thinking for days about it. I'm much happier this week since it's not the nightmare fuel zombie kiss 🤮

Idk, I thought it was really nice to see a full episode on people finding some sense of their normal in the end of the world.
The last episode was one of my favorite episodes of TV ever.
I loved it so much too. It reminds me of how I felt after watching the last episode of Six Feet Under. Just this profound sense of loss but that it was so beautifully written, acted and shot.
We haven’t started yet, but have played the games.
I saw that it was renewed for season 2 already. 🥀🥀🥀
Not enough tears, I’m afraid, lol.
I’m glad to see people enjoying the show! The games, I think, were very special.
This is what my husband said. He's an avid gamer and said they were just different. They hit differently and emotionally in a way that no other games did.

I just remember feeling sad, but also like, warm. Because their story was so beautifully told.

It very much focused on the question of "Why are we even fighting to survive? For what?" For humanity and love and connection where we can find it.

What was their relationship in the game?
I haven’t played the game but I saw on Twitter they were lovers, but frank got infected by a zombie and killed himself.
Gosh. Episode 3 was just beautiful. It was so refreshing to see a different take on a familiar scene across the genre. From the first time the characters were introduced, you were just waiting for when it all goes south. A lesser show would have done that, easily. I was like - here's where it happens, no here, no...he's inside the house now, it's gonna happen. And it didn't happen. It was a reminder that ultimately, we are all still just people, no matter the trauma we are going through. Not everyone becomes a monster.
I caught my SO getting choked up. I have NEVER seen that happen in a show or movie before. Anyway, quite possibly one of the best episodes of TV ever.

We've been watching it. My kids watched the entire gameplay of the first game and are onto the second, so we know what to expect in terms of major plot points.
S3 was amazing.
And yes, the infected are disgusting, somehow worse than normal zombies lol.

It was also interesting to think about how for Bill, the apocalypse actually made his life better in some ways. He could be who he really was, and he found love and companionship, and someone to protect. I think the focus on them and their relationship also helped make it more believable that Joel and Tess would have trusted them, and vice versa. (Or, Tess trusted Frank and Bill and Joel were kind of dragged along lol).
The connection to the music code in the last episode was a neat way to bring it all together.
I love this show so much I’m already sad about the last episode. Also, this has been one of the few shows that really sticks with me - I’ve been having crazy dreams after every episode. I think this feels like one of the more realistic zombie scenarios (except the generator gasoline, that also had me like lol no).
I am loving how much attention Ep 3 is getting, it really shows that characters and world building are so, so important to a show, not just explosions and action sequences.

I liked how that brought the end of episode 1 together, too.

We chatted about that, about why they waited so long to marry one another - and among other reasons, in this universe, the apocalypse happens before gay marriage is legal/accepted like it is today.

What was their relationship in the game?
Haven't played the game so I want to put that disclaimer out there, but the article said Bill was very controlling, Frank wanted to leave and was trying to escape but Bill wouldn't let him. It sounded much darker and abusive than what we got in the show.
