Checking in after the Friday episode...good God this show is intense!! What a roller coaster of an episode. My heart was pounding and I'm an emotional wreck now. 10/10
I haven't been able to go back and watch it. I got through them planning their escape and realized it would go horribly wrong. I read the spoilers and don't know if I can do it.
I have no interest in either zombies or video games and minimal interest in dystopian dramas, so I initially had no interest in this show. But I heard so much great hype about episode 3 and decided to check it out. Iâm really enjoying it. Epidude 3 was amazing. So ch a beautiful depiction of a loving relationship against all odds. Episode 5 was great too. I really li e the focus on human connection. Sam and Henryâs story was so beautiful and so tragic.

Same here. I don't know that it would have been on my radar if H hadn't talked up the show when it first started. I was and still am so drawn in by the human stories. In a wierd way, the monsters are the least interesting aspect of the series. (Though I am loving how freaky they are!)
Another amazing episode. The scene between Joel and Ellie when he says heâs leaving her was heartbreaking. Overall, it was too positive of an episode so you knew something bad was coming. My DH and I anxiously await Sundays at 8!
I watched! That's a cliffhanger. I assume Joel is going to be ok but... how? They are kind of in the middle of nowhere...
Wyoming is so beautiful, one of my takeaways is that I want to travel out west! I went as a kid but that was a long time ago.
It was all filmed in Alberta. I think Wyoming was filmed in Canmore. Itâs a really beautiful area. I am watching only because I am a local and love seeing our cities and scenery in the show!

Oh funny! It does look a lot like Wyoming. Well, I'll have to add Canmore to my list. I have seen too little of Canada so far!
I have been watching. I loved the last episode and the changes they have made to Joelâs character from the video game. He is more openly emotional.
I think Pascal and Ramsey have done well filling in the gaps to show their bond growing even though the timeline on the show is pretty accelerated.
Pascalâs micro expressions during the burial scene and the sniper shootout in episode five showed his growing attachment.
His PTSD this episode felt real. For someone who has been existing more than living since losing his daughter, the constant responsibility and panic, coupled with being older, would make anyone break. He isnât wrong⌠Ellie might be better off with Tommy, but that is what the whole show is about⌠Bill and Frank, Henry and Sam⌠making huge sacrifices and living for the people you love.
The foreshadowing is there too which I appreciate⌠I wonât spoil those details though since I know the game storyline.
Loved the cinematography! Such beautiful landscapes this episode. Bella and Pedro continue to tear my heart out as actors, really phenomenal at every turn. I also loved seeing Graham Greene and Elaine Miles as the native couple in the cabin. I would have loved to have seen more of them in that scene.
I think someone has to come along and help them, I don't see another way for Joel to make it through this but I know he has to!
Every episode is so good.
My guess is that his brother ended up following them and comes upon them, or the Fireflies find them. DH thinks they might actually kill him off but I can't see that happening (or if they did, that they'd do it so son and in that way).
I've loved watching the relationship grow between Joel and Ellie. They're starting to feel attached and responsible for each other, but it's all in non-straightforward/non-verbal ways that they show it.
Someone posted about the podcast - Thank You! It's so good!
Next weeks episode where we see Ellie's past looks great.

We finally caught up on episodes this morning. I agree, this show is different since it seems to focus on the people and relationships more than the zombies.
I really hope Joel makes it.
Iâm not sure what Maria meant by her comments re: type of people you trust.
Zombies, what zombies? The human beings in this show are so much more terrifying and disturbing. Stellar episode. Bella as Ellie is a such a fucking badass.
OMG when he called her baby girl I started to cry. And when he gathered her up and hugged her after she escaped from that monster and she was able to calm down because she felt safe again, ugh! This show just tears up my heart every week.
Also ..the lady that made the stew knew it was her husband's meat going in the pot, right? She hesitated but did not look upset whatsoever and I'm pretty sure that was her husband AHHHH.

I swear my husband mentioned that and I was like no! That's like horse meat or something! I refused to believe it (neither of us played the game). So then when they showed the hanging human carcasses I said well shit, guess you were right!

I haven't played the game but she asked what is it, and the guy said venison and there were a lot of pauses and hesitations and I thought ohhhh noooooo that's definitely people meat.
But damn why they need to be greedy, there's 3 people and a deer in the barn you don't need to chop up Ellie!
Iâm watching. I love the show but I did not like tonightâs episode! So many awful decisions and pauses (Iâm the one yelling at the tv that they need to run and donât have time to sit there and hug) but I guess that shows how Ellie is just a kid DH caught onto the cannibalism immediately, like at the leaders first speech. I was in denial but he was right.

Me and my oldest also got strong cannibal vibes right away. My 17 yo was like, nah I think theyâre just creepy but donât eat people. Pretty soon she was like, OH!
This episode (episode 8) was really accurate to the game play (Joel interrogating the two men, Ellie biting Davidâs finger, the âbaby girlâ line).
This was Ellieâs turning point moment, similar to Joel losing Sarah⌠she will never be the same.
I did scratch my head about no one from the town noticing the burning building, but I guess Joel disposed of most of the men that could have actually done anything and the rest of the town was seemingly turning on David .
Going from Ellie killing David so brutally to her needing Joel to just hold her was a good emotional payout. She is still just a kid.
Pascal did a nice job of showing both Joelâs relief and devastation⌠he is happy he found her, but he failed again because she experienced that.
The actor who played David was excellent. Frightening!
