wildrice my guess that this weirdness is either church or MLM related. Our former neighbors were high up in the Amway pyramid and it was a similar situation at their home.
As for the elephant foot garbage can, hopefully it's fake or an antique. One of my relatives has a gorgeous coffee table that is inlaid with ivory. It's been handed down several generations, but she said she still feels guilty about having it in her home.
I hadn't thought of MLM, but that would make sense! I did wonder if it was related to religion in some way. The microphone and clapping thing really threw me off, especially in combination with the elephant foot thing.
I am pretty sure it's a real foot - it has hair and toenails But hopefully it is just old (I guess I would assume so). I would post a pic but I don't want to upset anyone - I find it really disturbing! I did take a picture and then realized they have a Ring camera so they probably have footage of me taking a pic, lol. Whoops.
Oh, ok yeah no photo then. That does sound upsetting to see.
I have 23 more "things" to figure out for H's 50th birthday 50 Things to Open Extravaganza.
Our 15th wedding anniversary is in April this year, so I was going to give him something that corresponds with the 15 "traditional" wedding gifts. I was all excited about it, but now the thought of following through with it and actually doing this is overwhelming me. I can't imagine doing 50 things!

My brother has a tree on his house and my SIL’s car. The ice storm was slightly worse than expected. Thankfully all lives were spared and no one was injured. The power box was torn off the house. They took the kids to someone’s house while they determine the next steps.

My friend's husband did something similar for her birthday and asked her friends to share why they appreciate her or a special memory. It was really sweet. Maye collecting those and have them in separate envelopes from friends and family.

I did send an email to a bunch of family and friends, I've got 5 cards/gifts coming for sure.
thanks to the thread about writing a will yesterday, we are now currently working on this. My anxiety is through the roof thinking about guardianship.
Good for you! This is really a hard decision. We prioritized the best of imperfect choices where our children would be safe and loved.
Yes. For us the final deciding factor on who to choose was who we thought would make an effort to be sure kid could stay connected with both sides of the family.
I’m thinking about booking a trip to Japan for my daughter and I through Girl Scouts. I went to the informational zoom last night and was surprised at how affordable it would be, especially since we wouldn’t go until 2025.
She asked me what I was watching and I told her and she started jumping up and down.
I guess that means I know what her vote is.
Oh, this is so exciting!! We're also going to Japan in 2025, it's David's dream trip and we want to take him before he graduates. What was the informational zoom you did if you don't mind me asking?
Another snow day here. I'm beginning to run out of food (I'm obviously not the one buying out the store before a storm but a little planning would have been good on my part. Shit not together). I have a show on Friday I've really been looking forward to and I hope it doesn't get messed up because of this weather.
I talked to a coworker yesterday who knew the history of my stress at my job. She said her boss was wondering if I was being blocked out and was concerned about what was happening for months now because I didn’t look happy in our team meetings. She said coworkers she talked to were shocked at the announcement. A few colleagues privately reached out to check in and offered to be references which made me feel better.
My DH tested positive for Covid earlier this month, he isolated and masked in the house and DS and I didn’t catch it.
Now DS tested positive yesterday (went to a birthday party at a play place on the weekend so possibly got it there).
I have a very mild stuffy nose but have tested positive twice. I have an appt for a booster in a couple of weeks. If I never test positive, if you were me would you keep the appt, or assume I’ve just had it and wait another 6 months?

It was a presentation from the company they contract with for the tours. EF travel I think it was?
Just seeing the activities they had planned and their little touristy pictures made me really excited.
So I was productive yesterday, took a shower at lunch time instead of napping, felt like I was productive after work too. Well today is the complete opposite. I just want to close my work laptop and call it a day but I can't. ugh
The tipping thing is getting crazy. I have a make up artist that charges a mandatory 15% tip. Okay so then just increase your price by 15% and don't force a "tip". She's the owner so it's not about paying the make up artist.

DD and I are going to Japan with EFI and her school in 2024 - I bet it's a really similar trip.
Are those LinkedIn Learning courses worth it to add on your resume? Or even taking them and adding them to your resume? Just curious if they are overused or not taken seriously.

SAME. I've been working like crazy the last 4 weeks on a big project. We finished it yesterday (which included getting up extra early to do a training presentation with Asia). I'm now spent and really wish it was the weekend. I'm so tired from not getting enough sleep lately too. I almost fell asleep at lunch.

Our company eliminated some positions today, including one on my team (not me).
I feel like an asshole, but I'm relieved. Both because it wasn't me, and because of who was chosen. They weren't a team player, and they didn't seem like a good fit for our industry (heavily regulated vs. the industry they came from before which was not).

I have a panel interview today for a job that doesn’t exist yet. The hiring manager is in the process of creating the role but it’s not official yet. He got my resume and my understanding is that he really want me for the role and is considering making it a contract position until it’s official. Of course, that is depending on how my interview goes today. Please send me all of your good thoughts! I’ve already been out of work for two months and am going stir crazy not working.

We decided to drive to Sedona for our vacation. This will be the fourth time we've gone , it's my happy place! In addition, we usually go camping with a group but we're not going this year . We take my husbands mother, and she's been a miserable human being for the last two years. Last year with her was the worst vacation of our lives, and we refuse to go through that again. She's not talking to us because she can't go. We just have too much deferred maintenance on our house, and projects we need to finish.

No.
There is a huge variety in what LinkedIn Learning offers. If you took a full curriculum and learned a new, demonstrable skill or greatly enhanced one you already had from it - I think that's ok to put on a resume. In most other cases, they are not useless for your own development but nobody is going to be impressed by you taking them or give you a job because of a few 30 minute online courses, so putting them on a resume doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I do think mentioning them in context in an interview would be fine though.
