I finished west with giraffes and it took me a minute to get into, but it was such a great story once I dug in. I’m 2/3 of the way through Candy House and I wish I had Someone to talk about it with because it is really intriguing, but probably too smart for me. I also started The Club yesterday which is a thriller I think. It’s engaging so far:

I enjoyed The Club. Could have been a bit shorter, though.
I just finished the audiobook of The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave which I loved. It was actually my first audiobook and I enjoyed the experience more than I expected.
Currently reading Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng.
I do have an ARC of Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan that I need to read soon. I read Nora Goes off Script, but was really put off by the single mom, man child storyline AND a 10 year old with a cell phone derailing the second half of the story. So I hope this one is better.
Currently reading How to Human by Carlos Whittaker (love it), and have started The Bromance Club (haven’t gotten into it). I also just finished Orphaned Believers by Sara Billups and mostly loved that, too.
I just started How the Word is Passed on audiobook. I’ve checked it out from the library several times with plans to read it, but never have…so I figured I’d try audiobook. So far, so good!
I read Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance (A Espach) which I really enjoyed. I’d say a solid 3.5-4 stars)
And
Memphis (T. Stringfellow) which I LOVED!! This book is a jewel. The writing was just so good and the characters really came to life. It’s one I want to be a movie so I can see it come to life even more.
I have House on the Cerulean Sea and My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry waiting to be picked up at the library

I just finished Memphis by Tara Stringfellow. The writing and the characters were very good, but I kept kind of waiting to get to the plot which never really happened. It was an enjoyable read, but not quite what I was expecting.
Next, I'm reading The Man Who Could Move Clouds by Ingrid Rojas Contreras.

I do want more of the characters, but what would the a movie be about? I would 100% read "Joanie: The London Years" or a book centered around Miss Dawn.

Currently reading Firekeeper’s Daughter. It took me a bit to get into it, but I’m about 25% and enjoying it so far.
I read Caraval before this. I don’t always enjoy fantasy and have to be in the mood for it, but it was good and I will continue the series.
Prior to that I read Age of Vice and really liked it. It’s long at over 500 pages, but the crime families and stories of those associated with them kept it interesting. I recently heard it will be part of a trilogy. Without giving anything away, that makes sense based on how it ended and I’m hoping it’s true.
I finished How High We Go In The Dark yesterday. I feel like I need to reread it, I don't know if I missed a transition but 3/4 of the way through the book it seemed to go into random stories, but they probably connect with the ending. I loved the beginning part and flew through it so then the individual stories kind of threw me. The ending was good though!
I have The Time Travelers Wife, Dark Room Etiquette, and Our Missing Hearts on hold to read next.
rupertpenny I think it was about the theme of the choices women make. To leave, to stay, to provide, to protect. And the grey that comes with each choice. The power of females and family. It was heartbreakingly beautiful.
I think the story itself could stand alone. Miriam and August with flashbacks.
I'm reading Lessons in Chemistry. I am enjoying it so far, it is quirky. I'm halfway or so through.
I am also listening It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover. I really liked the first one (It Ends with Us) and without giving too much away about the plot, there is one aspect of it that has a very "sliding doors" story about something that could have happened in my life and didn't, and so far based on this fictional book I feel very validated by the choice I made. That probably makes no sense typed out but anyway, I like the book so far and I think the way she writes does a good job of pulling me in - I couldn't put down the other couple of books I've read by her.
I finished Spare last week so technically January, but found it very interesting and I ended up with a ton of sympathy for Prince Harry. I know he wrote it so of course he sounds like the victim, but he sounds like a decent guy who has dealt with a LOT that he didn't ask for.

I'm in a "liked, didn't love" rut right now.
I'm currently finally getting around to The New Jim Crow, and have Ian McEwan's Lessons next.
I joined a Smutty Book Club a few months ago and they have the worst taste. I have to brave something called "Room Twenty-two" which is a reverse harem book by the 15th.
My sister and my niece (she's 27) wanted to start a little book club between the three of us. Cool. The book my niece picked, which I don't think she realized at the time, was SO sexually graphic, like in a really vulgar way. And the writing was so bad and cheesy, which made the horrible vulgar sex parts even worse. I was laughing so hard in bed reading some of these lines. I have never read something so terrible in my life. I can't believe Goodreads rated it so high, like over 4* with like 200,000 reviews.
Anyway, when we finished the book, it was an awkward "um.... so what did you guys think of the book...." lolol
I just finished Call of the Wrens by Jenni L. Walsh. It was so good! If you love historical fiction from WWI & II then you'll probably enjoy this book about the Women's Royal Navy Service.
I'm just finishing up One of the Girls by Lucy Clarke which has been a decent thriller so far, I'm about 25 pages from the end. A little heavy on bad behavior by men, but hey, fuck men.
Others I've enjoyed recently:
Sign Here by Claudia Lux The Last Party by Claire Mackintosh Shadows of Pecan Hollow by Caroline Frost The Enigma of Room 622 by Joel Dicker
I really struggled through Age of Vice. The beginning was good, but then it got slow, then really really slow, and then a weird jump and then kind of a jumbled mess.
Well the last thing I read was a training/instructional design book lol.
I have been in a huge reading rut for the past 3-4 months. I was reading probably a book a week all summer and spring of last year. I pretty much exclusively read thrillers/suspense novels. It's just what I like. And several times I have gone on Good Reads or Amazon to find a new one to read and nothing sounded good to me. Or I'd start one and not get into it.
So if anyone has good suspense/thrillers, I'd love recs. I have read a lot of them, but there's always a chance it's one I've not read yet. I don't care for paranormal thrillers.
I just finished an ARC of I Didnt Do It. It was a fun quick read. I enjoyed it. It’s about a murder at a thriller author convention. It comes out in May.
I just started an ARC of No One Needs To Know. One of the reviews said it’s Big Little Lies meets Gossip Girls. I think it will be a quick fun read too.
I am also listening to Spare. I don’t have a ton of time to listen so taking me a bit.
I’m reading the new Jane Harper. I wish I had reread the other two because I can’t remember if we know one of the characters from an earlier book or not.

Um obviously you have to say what this book is now...
I just finished The Sanatorium and really liked it. The next book in the series just came out and I’m starting that now.
I’m so upset though. I opened my library app the other day and all my holds are gone! I was next in line for the new Celeste Ng and now I’m back to an 8 week wait
I’m currently reading Lessons in Chemistry for book club. Everyone raves about it but I’m bored out of my mind. I’m next in line for The House in the Pines which I’m looking forward to.
