gottadobe I took your advice and kept with the Fiestaware. I bought 6 bowl plates and 6 gusto bowls for the kids. Will probably buy 6 more of the bowl plates and a couple more bowls. They are perfect for kids and DH and I are using them more than our dinner plates too. Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm seriously craving a dirty martini - I often have one after work on Fridays, that's my special "I made it through the week" drink and I try to avoid drinking them the rest of the time (because they are my favorite but they are strong and that's never a good combo). Except I'm out of vodka! I can run out and get some after work but that feels wrong to go out just for that. I may do it anyway. I do need cash tomorrow and there is a liquor store near an ATM that is 5 minutes-ish from my house.
I am so glad the weather has been warming up here because my furnace went out this morning. The repair guy is here bow though so it sounds like it will be back up soon.

I’m currently on my flight and broke down and paid for wifi because I’m bored.
Apparently there are a few TikTokkers that are supposed to also be in Jackson Hole this weekend and I’m totally fangirling that I might get to see them. I’m such a loser LOL

It was a birthday miracle! I wasn't sure if 2 of DD's 3 presents would arrive by her birthday (the 8th), but they actually arrived days early! One yesterday evening and one this afternoon. The one delivered this afternoon is a new bed, so DH and DD are in the process of taking down her loft bed and building the new one.

I wasn't sure I'd watch That 90's Show. I didn't watch That 70's Show religiously, but enough that I'm very familiar with the characters. Well I've been watching it at bedtime for the last week and it's so enjoyable! Last night was the one where she imagines herself in a 90210 episode and I was peeing myself laughing at Brian Austin Green popping in and asking people to come watch him DJ!
Reminded why I hate grocery delivery. In my order I had a Stouffer's lasagna (listed with a substitution for another variety of lasagna) and a 15 oz package of ricotta cheese because I like to add it. Well, they subbed in a 32 oz thing of ricotta and didn't even get the lasagna at all.
Luckily it seems like the car issue is just a loose battery connection so I'm hoping I'll be able to go pick it up today at some point and then I can go buy my own damn lasagna.
It's what our district calls the car line at school drop off.
Shouldn't it be "ride and kiss" or "kiss and drop" or something? lol
I KNOW. It's dumb, but we're in the DC suburbs so my guess is it's because the subway system uses kiss and ride for the drop off lanes at the suburban stations so it was easiest.
It should really be called tuck and roll, staff keeps things moving along fast!
So yesterday afternoon we got our autistic DS(6) diagnosed with asthma. Today I pick up his chewable med, inhalers (with spacers), fill out paperwork for the school and try to get DS to use said inhaler and take the med. It's always easy & smooth to get DS to take new meds. /s
You all have been dealing with a lot. I know that's not a dx you'd want, but maybe on the right treatment plan it might mean healthier days ahead.
It's the treatment plan I plan for the worst and hope for the best with (for every med we give DS). Textures and tastes are big struggles for him across the board including medicine. We've never done inhalers so hopefully it's not too bad. Reactions to anything new, different or a transition usually include hitting, kicking and throwing things. Oh and screaming and running away.

I hope you can get him into a routine sooner than later. That's rough on all of you.
I have two sickies in my house and I have a runny stuffy nose and am not feeling 100% but have tested negative 3 times (even though DS has it) and I am tired and and fed up with taking care of other people but I just sat down with a raspberry paczki and a second glass of wine and suddenly all feels right with the world.

I’m weirdly fucking annoyed at the GBBO professionals season coming to Netflix and being recommended all the fuck over my email and Home Screen. No. I don’t give a fuck about professionals. I want to cheer for precious home bakers absolutely drop-kicking challenges in earnest. Nothing about this is relaxing to watch. It’s just obnoxious.
I got back from the ortho specialist a little bit ago. I have a clean break in my 5th metatarsal at the back/top (closer to the ankle than the toes). The bones are still aligned, so no surgery! I need to go back for more X-rays in a week to make sure nothing has moved. In a walking boot for probably 6 weeks. I’m sure I’ll get tired of my boot pretty quickly, but for now I’m really happy to be mobile!

We used this line for the second time with DD today. I had posted jokingly about the first time we used it and how H didn’t understand it and hopped out to unbuckle her car seat. I had told him he’d be alllllll over the local Facebook pages.
So today I take her and she says jokingly “I don’t want to be on the news!” We drive up, she hops out (on the far side of the car) and then proceeds to walk to the school. BUT SHE DOESN’T CLOSE HER CAR DOOR! Luckily she heard me yelling and came back and shut it and since we were at the back of the 10 cars simultaneously dropping off we didn’t hold anyone up. But I was dying when I called H to twlll him about it after her insistence today we do everything right so she wouldn’t end up “on the news!”
My H and I went out to lunch/brunch and I had what the restaurant was calling a gummy bear mimosa. It was delicious, and fizzy and nearly as much as my meal (although I took half of my breakfast home and I'm going to eat it for dinner tonight). #NoRegrets
Then we stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few random ingredients for a new meal I want to try, only I'm a dumbass and I forgot to put a key ingredient on the list, and I don't really have anything on hand I can use as a sub for a fresh jalapeno, so I'm going to have to go back to the store. (But not until next week, because I have enough meals to get us through the weekend.)

Haha I was going to ask! The parents who get out and stop for hugs and kisses are the bane of the drop off line! Keep it moving, people!!!
I am tipsy. I haven't had a drink in months and I came to my mom's for dinner and she kept pouring. It's only 6:30! I feel like now is the perfect time for me to write my paper that's due for my grad class Sunday!

Ugh. This is a downer.
A friend’s mom died of pancreatic cancer earlier this week and I just found out tonight. . I’ve never met her mom and this is a friend I’ve known for a long time, but am not super close with - so this isn’t a death that is close to me, but it’s hit me really hard. My friend kept a CaringBridge for her and I’d been following along since her diagnosis. She was diagnosed almost three years ago and - given the kind of cancer - I’d sort of convinced myself she was going to beat it because she had been doing so well
Another friend, whom I am really close with, lost her dad to the same kind of cancer my sister has earlier this week. And my aunt died of pancreatic cancer last year shortly after my uncle (her husband) died of prostate cancer / pneumonia. And H’s stepmom has cancer, as do my sister and uncle. And my stepdad died of cancer in 2018 (and all of my dad’s siblings and his dad died of it previously), so pretty much all I can think about tonight is how much I fucking hate cancer.
