My list is long but the funniest one (to me) is the fact that I just realized my license plate tabs were due in August and it is now Februray and I have yet to renew them.
I put off things I dread (scheduling DS' dentist appt & my sleep study).
I dress out of a clean laundry basket 99% of the time. All the dirty laundry from everyone in the house goes directly in the washer which negates the need for dirty laundry basket(s).

It’s funny, when I was young I thought all adults had their shit together. Now that I am an adult I realize that many of us don’t and probably never will and I am okay with being in that group.

I am really successful professionally but underneath I am a mess.
My house is also clean and organized. But again, underneath a mess.
I have Covid and am locked in the guest room all weekend. Yesterday I didn't do shit (I feel fine by the way so I have no excuse). Today I am TRYING to get all the shit I avoid doing done. Future me really wishes I didn't avoid stupid tasks.
My list is long but the funniest one (to me) is the fact that I just realized my license plate tabs were due in August and it is now Februray and I have yet to renew them.
I once forgot to renew my truck's registration for an entire year. It's not my daily driver, just a beater for hauling stuff around, but I do loan it out to friends regularly. I was mortified to find out they were driving around with expired tags. The funny thing is the late fee was less than the year registration, so its actually cheaper to just forget for a year.
I once went 12 years between dentist appointments while still paying for dental insurance. I also hate making phone calls and will avoid them as long as possible.
My house is a mess, despite being a professional organizer, lol.
I can juggle a lot of other balls, but I just can’t handle this one. I’m successful at both jobs, I try to spend quality time with the kids, I meal plan most weeks, bills are paid on time, I’m great with keeping up with the calendar and everyone’s schedules. I think I’m a decent wife, friend, daughter, sister, etc. But I cannot for the life of me keep my house together.
I also needed to renew my tags in August, I really should. Oddly, the reason I forgot was I got COVID and now I have it again lol. I am working on figuring out how to live in a tidy house. I really don't look for magazine spreads, just no plush fluff, no visible fur, and no dirt. I am not very successful at that. At the moment EVERYTHING is clean, but that was because I had pink eye lol.
Add me to the list of people who hate making phone calls. And add that to a job where I get very few breaks and nowhere to take phone calls most of the day and the list just keeps getting longer of places and people to call.
I gave up on finding a counselor because nobody was accepting patients. I made the decision last year to look into getting evaluated for adhd but my GP was useless in directing me somewhere. So procrastinating on that as well.
I need to finish compiling a list of medical issues and onset but that involves asking my drs (I have no idea on dates for this stuff) and so now my options for purchasing life insurance are on hold as well.
I’m not resilient with/about phone calls and asking for things from medical people. .
I am part of the 95% club on pretty much all my projects. New patio is up and looks beautiful but I never got around to staining or sealing the posts and beams. Bathroom remodel is fully functional but it’s been weeks and I haven’t finished the touch up paint or caulked the baseboards. I purchased an unfinished dresser and nightstands, purchased the stain and sealer, have the brushes I need, but haven’t actually done the staining or sealing. Put in tiered retaining wall in the front yard, moved and added sprinklers, laid sod, laid ground cloth, planted shrubs and flowers, finished laying 95% of the crushed granite stone but ran out and haven’t ordered more. And so on, and so on.
This Sunday thread reminded me that sheets are in the dryer from our cleaning people on Thursday. They’ll probably stay there until the next load of laundry. Prior to getting a regular cleaning crew we went months between washing sheets.
I’m doing good to get a haircut once a year and other medical appointments when something is urgent.

We had a pipe fixed a year ago and still haven't done a patch of drywall in our basement. We keep forgetting to schedule it and now we are kind of used to the hole, LOL
Laundry and appointments are also my biggest downfalls.
We are all overdue for the dentist, I haven't had a haircut in over a year, my son has needed to get a pair of uniform pants hemmed since October. Bleh.
We also live out laundry baskets. I feel like I get points for always having clean clothes and uniforms ready when needed. A lot of times they are even folded! Having them put away is just a bridge too far.
I am realizing that I have a lot of symptoms of ADD that I was able to mask when I was younger, but with more responsibilities and age, things have deteriorated.

Oh man. This reminds me. We have pull down stairs to our attic and over a year ago my son didn't fold them up right before closing and made a whole in the wall of our upstairs hallway. It wouldn't be that hard to fix, but we'd have to repaint and it just seems like it will snowball. I could also very easily just hang a picture to cover it-- it's a perfect spot for it and I have plenty of pictures that I could use.
Instead it's just still there. I barely even notice it anymore.

Our oven, which is built into original 1965 cabinets in a spot that is too small for any standard modern ovens, died two years ago. “Call contractors for quotes to start kitchen remodel” has been on my to-do list for two years.
At this point I’ve just gotten used to cooking with only a toaster oven. 😂

H and I had to use beach towels after our shower this morning. I typically do a load of towels midweek. We try to reuse them when possible. This week was skipped. H and I thought we had enough. Apparently that’s not the case.
I think just both of us working full time plus a never ending to do list.
We spent the morning doing chores but it still won’t all be done no matter what we do or how much time we spend.
My baseboards are dirty. I have pans that need to be washed. Laundry is in process and is never ending. We went grocery shopping but have no menu, so no idea what we are making this week.
I try to hard to be organized and have everything together.
I have ADHD and I have 2 kids with ADHD and a spouse that manages himself and no one/nothing else.
Latest instance of feeling like a mess - Kids and dad are at a father/daughter dance. DD1 hated all dress options. Finally chose one, insisted on no hose (fine) and knew which shoes she was going to wear. Panicked minutes before leaving because shoes didn't fit, she NEEDED hose, had NO OTHER SHOES TO WEAR.
There is laundry drying all over my house.
I ordered a curling iron 3 months ago because my old one broke. It arrived, but I never opened the box because I didn't need it. Opened it today to find that I had, in fact, ordered TWO of the same curling iron. So now I have to return that. Also have 3 other bags of clothing that needs to be returned to 3 different stores, and they've been traveling with me in my car for weeks.
I have not had a physical since my dr retired. He retired 2 years ago, immediately after my last physical. I do not have a new dr yet.
My favorite is when I have guests and dust bunnies come tumbling out from under my couch. It's the best.

that's so funny and I get it, our master shower didn't work for almost six months and we all showered in our super small kid bath for all that time. We thought it would be too expensive to repair and it wasn't. You can learn to live with lots of things. It's good that we aren't so obsessed with remodels. You've found other ways to cook...LOL

I agree, just cover it with a picture or let it go. Not that big of a deal
I'm not sure I've ever cleaned my baseboards? We do have cleaners now so I guess they kind of take care of that. I do notice they get a little grimy in our bathroom anyway. We also have a thick layer of dust on the tops of the curtains in the bedrooms that I haven't touched in probably a year. For some reason the cleaners don't do anything about it either.
I too suck at phone calls. I've had "make a dermatologist appointment" on my to-do list for like 3 months. Finally I tried to refill a prescription so my old derm office called ME and I made an appt. I meant to switch to someone closer, but I guess I'll deal with that next year!
I procrastinate on everything. It's now 4:30 and the assignments I have been saying for almost a full week that I was going to finish grading by today haven't hardly been started. I did do some other related work today but what should have been maybe 3 hours of work has turned into an entire day because I keep stopping and doing other things. This also describes my day job. I do generally meet hard deadlines but if I'm not held accountable for things I keep putting them off.
My parents' anniversary was today and I never bought or mailed a card. I know it's old fashioned to do so but my mom always does (in fact OUR anniversary card arrived a week early...) so I should do better to reciprocate.
I could go on. There are a million house projects I've either started or given a lot of thought to starting that I haven't actually completed. Two of our closets have no rack currently because I got rid of the old stuff that was in there but haven't replaced it yet (the old stuff were Ikea cabinets that didn't work, but they were better than the nothing we have now...).
