My washing machine has a center agitator, I noticed the other day that the fabric softener that you put in the center dispenser of the agitator was not emptying even thought it should. I pulled the dispenser off to clean it and the enter agitator cylinder is full of fabric softener/water.
Has this happened to anyone? I am currently running cycle to clean the machine hoping that fixes the issues but any tips would be appreciated. I will insert a picture to shoe what I am referring to in case I don’t make sense.
I had this issue with my old GE washer. My current Maytag specifically advises you to limit fabric softener use and dilute it with at least half water. I only use half the amount Downy says after half filling the dispenser with water and only with clothing, so I run at least as many loads (towels, sheets, table linens) without softener which also prevents this.
If you use fabric softener, it's a good idea to run a cleaning cycle regularly as there's likely buildup you can't see behind the drum.
