I toss a few handfuls of nuts/seeds on the ground in the morning to attract small critters. I do it because the cats love to watch them from the back window. My orange cat will actually ask for me to do it (he runs up to me, runs to the window, runs back to me -- it's fun 😊).
This morning I took a few minutes to just sit with him and wait for the critters to come get their breakfast. So I got to see a giant red headed woodpecker show up on our tube feeder. I thought they only ate bugs! Never expected to attract one to my little yard. And it was huge! And so handsome.
There's a brown thrasher out there right now and orange cat is going nuts 😅
I love it so much. Only took me a few days to finish it but I still love it. DD1 got into it and she finally finished it. DD2 is working on it now. We play with it almost every day. Best present I've gotten in a long time.
The key is that this one is pretty easy, so it was really satisfying to finish it. I picked up another one on Buy Nothing and it is too hard. I'm stuck on step 35 out of 100 and I'm annoyed I can't get past it LOL.
Thought of another one (also cat related lol). I posted awhile ago about our black cat not being able to put weight on a front foot. The vet got him turned around and then we really started focusing on helping him lose weight so it wouldn't happen again.
I'm not sure how much he's lost, but he's definitely under 20 pounds now, and he's so much more active and energetic. A couple of weeks ago I started adding cosequin to his wet food, and we've been amazed at the difference. It's like he's a kitten again!
The other day when I was really upset about a lot of stuff going on, my 5 year old empathetic child picked up on it and carried my purse out to the car when we were headed out and then went around and opened my door for me. Just to be helpful. It was so sweet.
My 9yo son holds the screen door open for me every morning while I lock our door. It's not something that was ever verbally taught, but he is such a little gentleman and I love it so much.
My teen flips me off every morning when I’m dropping her off at the bus. Which sounds terrible, I know, but it’s her salty sarcastic way of saying bye and I love you.
Mine too! Also, when one of us says “Bye! See ya!” The other will reply “I’ll see you in hell.”
During dinner, MH and I and the kids try to name one thing that we are grateful for that day. We started it for a lot of reasons, but partially because my daughter tends to focus on the negaives. Yesterday she said that she was grateful about the fun book report assignment she got.

we do this, too. It is nice to refocus and then gets us talking.
DS1 got DS2 (almost 14yo) LED lights for around the TV in the playroom (where lots of PlayStation is played and Netflix is watched). I put them up this weekend while he was at baseball practice and when he got home and went in there to watch Netflix, he saw them and literally cried. He gave me the biggest hug. One silly little thing I did to bring him a little joy in an otherwise crappy season of life brought us both so much happiness.
I can finally see hints of sunrise when I leave for work in the morning! The last couple of months have been very hard, and the light returning is so helpful.

My favorite. I work 12 hour shifts and it’s so hard when it’s pitch dark when I drive to work in the morning, AND drive home in the evening.
My almost 3 month old is "talking." I swear when I say I love you to her she babbles back “I love you too." It’s cute!
i remember right when my daughter hit that 3 month mark and started babbling - my husband was almost late for work (he's a teacher!) because he didn't want to leave her - just wanted to listen to her chatter <3 It's so fun!

I just found out yesterday that my son's high school will be doing Mamma Mia! in April. It is one of my favorite musicals and we used to listen to the soundtrack in the car together when he was younger. They have asked him to try out and I'm soooooo excited.
My 11yo has been asking to lay in bed with me at night around her bedtime so we can read together. It makes me smile to see her willingly read, and that she wants to be around me even if we're not talking.
And echoing a few others- that it's not as dark as it has been. Not needing a flashlight for my morning walks and it's not dark at 5pm anymore.
My DD1 has a crush. On a girl she has a lot in common with, who seems like a super nice person who is in DD1's corner and good friend, AND who also likes girls. I don't know if it'll tip over from friendship into a relationship, but I suspect it might and suggested to DD1 that she maybe think about asking this girl out on a date and see how it's received.
DD1's last crush was on a straight girl who was only an acquaintance, so this is kind of a big deal if it turns into her first actual dating relationship.
But my little thing is that I love the tone in her voice when she talks about this girl. She's so smitten.
DS2 (19) had to shovel the roof this weekend and since DS1 (22) moved out last year he has no obligation to help. He came over on Sunday morning just to help his brother. I was up there as well and it made me so happy to hear them talking and giving each other crap like friends do. I love that they are close.

Yes! She’s been doing it since she’s 2 months and it’s so fun to see her personality and have conversations with her lol.
