After being on PTO for 2 weeks, I'm back at work. It sucks as much as it did before I left (ha!). The auditors have been up my butt since I got back. And it's ridiculous that they keep asking about transactions that are under $1k. WE ARE A MULTI-BILLION $$$ COMPANY. Who effing cares about $1k?
They are on site in the office today and I happen to be here as well. They're sitting next to the kitchen and I heated up my leftover garlic/broccoli/shrimp concoction a few min ago. No effs given at all. I'm the only one here besides the auditors.
Vacation was great! Had the best meal at SUR and met Peter (got a picture with him). Went over to Tom-Tom for a drink afterwards and saw Max there. Cruise was fantastic and we loved Puerto Vallarta most of all, where we did an offroad Jeep excursion and tequila tasting!

I think I would like to try contacts - I tried them almost 7 years ago with my eye doctor and I had trouble putting them in. I don't have another eye doctor appointment covered by my insurance until the end of this year. Would it make sense to go to Costco, or do I need an eye doctor for a contacts Rx? I could pay to see him instead, but wasn't sure if it made more sense to just try Costco.

Thank you all! I do sometimes put vinegar in the washing machine (and never fabric softener), but it's probably not enough. I think I'm going to try specifically soaking these in a more concentrated vinegar/water solution for a bit before I next wash.

can you get a small sign that you hold up periodically that says "MATERIALITY"

I'd also try laying them out in bright sunlight on a hot day.
countthestars I think you need a few more numbers for contacts than just your glasses prescription would have, so Costco would still have to do the contact fitting exam. I could be wrong.
dochas , I empathize with you on the dog situation. We have 3 year old German Shepherd too. He's literally destroyed crates because of his separation anxiety when we've left the house. (And he can't be trusted yet to roam the house when we're not there.) We had to get him a crate with thick metal bars so that he can't break out of it or destroy it.) We did find a boarding kennel where the owner has experience with GSDs, and our dog has actually done ok there, so at least we've been able to send him there when my parents or a family friend isn't able to dogsit him at our home when we are traveling.
Have you considered sending your dog to a stay-and-train facility? I wonder if that might be a feasible option for you, but I know they expensive. There is a place about an hour where I live that has different lengths of stay-and-trains, but I know they are in the thousands of dollars (which is why we haven't done that with our dog).
Ugh, I'm sorry you deal with it too. He hates the leaving, but settles down once we're gone so that's good. We don't have anyone to watch him or any place to send him so we can't travel. I won't leave him out of the crate either when we're gone because he goes nuts when someone passes the house, especially with a dog, and I'm afraid he'll hurt himself. Or break through the window. We have a vacation house and he's so miserable in the car that we got trazadone from the vet for the ride. It works great for him thank God. The non-stop crying and pacing for 2+ hours was terrible for all of us. It makes me sad though, because he's so relaxed on it - that's what I wish he was like all the time.
We were looking into more intense training and one got back to us where he'd have to stay. We just can't send him away. If it was a problem of viciousness, or a last resort I'd consider that. This one didn't sound d great anyway because they would do like 1 hour with us when we pick him up. He has to learn whatever he learns WITH us so it works with us. I am adamant that any further training be home in our environment where the triggers are all happening. Someone else was basically offering off leash training. Did you hear what my problems are?! My issue isn't how to take my 70 lb dog off leash. LOL We're looking into behaviorists. It helps that my husband is now willing to admit that there are issues.
Makes sense regarding wanting the training at your home. It sounds like a behaviorist is a good idea! If you end up doing that, I'd be interested to hear how it goes! Maybe I'll have to convince my H to spend the money for us to do that with our dog.

Contacts require their own prescription. I think it's because they sit closer to your eye so the prescription is different than for glasses, in addition to the measurements needed for the correct contact size.

I have been watching Succession and one of the funniest things I have seen in a while is the shareholder meeting in Season 3. I have laughed out loud more times that I can count.
midwestmama and dochas - we did reactive integration training here and it definitely gave us tools to help manage Donny's reactivity on walks. Luckily he's good in his crate and we have one person he is ok with staying at the house with the dogs when we travel. If she ever moves, we're SOL. Like, she got divorced last year and had alluded to moving out of the neighborhood due to costs and I told H, "We might have to buy her a house." LOL
Karen Deeds is who we used and she just moved to TN so I don't know where either of you are located, but if it's there, she's awesome.

I do hang them dry outside in sunlight that gets out stains, but laying them flat out to get sun all over every square inch is not a bad idea!
Oof, this has been a busy week/day. I've had almost no downtime at all today, which I am thankful is a rare occurrence. So many meetings, plus I had to go into the office for one of them so almost 2 hours was spent on commuting. I have class (virtually) to attend tonight, too, so I basically just can't wait until 8pm. I may sneak in a short nap between now and when class starts, too.
We are suppose to get tons of rain this weekend, so I’m hoping for a lazy weekend at home. Tomorrow morning I’ll probably do laundry, pick up the house so that’s out of the way. Then I can spend the rest of the day watching Bravo.

DD left the door open and the cat got out. DD is acting like it’s no big deal. I can’t go searching until I’m off this long call. I’m not happy with either of them at the moment

We just finished season 3 last night! The finale was amazing. I cannot wait for season 4!
She never left. She was in the garage sunbathing. I’m thankful she didn’t go far. She was an outdoor cat before we rescued her. She has a tendency to climb trees
I subbed at DS' elementary school today. All recesses were indoors because with windchill it was under 10 degrees all day (we're at 8 degrees currently even though it's supposedly 21).
Tonight we're going to McDonalds for dinner for a Valley Parents get together for families of kiddos with special needs. DS(6) is excited because he loves to eat there. I'm excited because my two mom friends and I get to introduce our significant others to each other.
H finally took his allergy test. He's allergic to 17 outdoor allergens! Seventeen! OMG.
DH and I are weekending in downtown San Fran and went to a casual Japanese sit down place for an early dinner. There was an 18% "service fee" on our bill and we don't remember seeing any mention of it on the menu. We assumed it was a pre-determined tip so we didn't tip. AWTAH (Are We The Assholes?)
If we messed up we'll do better next time, but please set me straight me because my go-to reaction is this is false advertising on menu pricing.

no - not assholes it’s an alternative to tipping to make wages more predictable
