My mom and I are throwing a baby shower for my sister next weekend. It will be at 11am on Saturday - we are doing brunch. There will be around 20-25 adults.
I said I would do the mimosa bar. I’m thinking orange juice, cranberry, peach, and raspberry lemonade.
How much of each juice and champagne or Prosecco should I do? And do you have a favorite type of champagne or Prosecco for mimosas?
Grapefruit juice!! I think one of each juice is more than enough. Champagne it depends on the crowd. I'd do maybe 5 bottles and expect to have some leftover.
If you live in a place where Costco sells alcohol, I love their prosecco and it's cheap - like $8-9 a bottle. It's perfect for mimosas.
The amount really depends on whether or not you have heavy drinkers. You could probably do 3 bottles of prosecco if people are unlikely to have more than 1 - champagne glasses aren't very big so you aren't really consuming a ton per drink. If you have heavier drinkers, I'd probably plan on 1/3-1/2 a bottle per person depending on the length of the event.
I agree - one bottle of each juice. Maybe a larger OJ. For the champagne - you know this group. I’d definitely have 5. If the group aren’t big drinkers and you think people may just have one or two, 5 should be fine.
Hmm... I would normally say there are 4 glasses of wine per bottle, but you can probably double that for mimosas. So 3 bottles would get you 1 mimosa for all the guests. I'd probably buy 10-12 bottles so there was enough for everyone to have 3-4 mimosas.
My favorite prosecco is La Marca or Ruffino for mimosas. Both are dry so it pairs well with the sweet juices. You might want to get a couple bottles of brut style which isn't as dry (but it's not super sweet either) for those who don't like a super dry wine.
For 25 people I would probably get at least 6 bottles, especially if this is the only alcohol option. It also depends on the crowd. If it's a group that you know drinks, maybe even 7/8 bottles. 1 bottle of each juice should be plenty since you have so many options.

I did a mimosa bar for my SIL's baby shower last year, and we had around 20 people. I think we used around 5-6 bottles of prosecco, 2 bottles of orange juice, and 1 bottle of all the other juices (four juices total). We also had some fresh fruit, I got 1 package each of raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries.

Thanks, all! I was less sure about the juice. I was thinking around 6 bottles of prosecco. It will be the only alcohol, in addition to water, coffee, people who just want juice.
Also. I meant to ask - do you have a recommended non-alcoholic sparkling wine for my sister, so I can make her a fake mimosa?
A lot will depend on the proclivities of the attendees.
The last shower (40ish people) I threw was catered but I was responsible for the punch. There was also lemonade, iced tea and coffee. I made a champagne punch and used a case in the first hour and had to run out and buy more. Based on that, I'd guess 6 or so bottles but would have at least 9 on hand especially if some might go rogue and drink the prosecco unmixed.
Obviously it depends on the crowd but I would get ten. My friends/‘family’ group would have 3 each probably and if we are mixing them ourselves it is just a light splash of juice so more prosecco.
I'm with deadwing and was going to say a case of Prosecco so I'll see myself out lol.
I was really starting to question my recommendation... I am not a heavy drinker, but mimosas are typically small and go down easily!
I'll sit with you both. I was sort of shocked to see a recommendations of less than 10-12 bottles. But 3 friends and I can go through nearly 3 bottles ourselves at brunch when we are chatting over the course of a couple hours
IME, plain orange juice goes the fastest, with the second being orange-mango. People like to drink them plain, too. Generally, three juices is plenty and keeps the station moving. I normally choose Orange, something tropical with mango, and something red. I also put out fruit for garnish. I use La Marca Prosecco typically. It's always a huge hit!
Personally, I like lychee juice for mimosa style drinks. Other than orange juice, I tend to go with less acidic options given the acidity of the bubbly. For your sister, I’d do martinellis, sparkling water. or sparkling white grape rather than a fake wine
I'm a big Prosecco drinker and I like La Marca. Also, the Costco Prosecco is actually really good and half the price of La Marca. I wouldn't bother with champagne.
I am also in the have a case camp! I am far more generous with the sparkling than the OJ (or other juice). Leftovers won't go bad at my house! Also love the above suggestion of a Kir Royale - yum!
I would look for what is on sale, if I am mixing something into my sparkling, I don't spend much over $10-12/bottle.

lol I was like "Well, most of my friends would drink almost a whole bottle of prosecco themselves soooooo...20 bottles?"
This is where I was heading. The more I read the more I was concerned my friends might have a problem. We had brunch for 12 adults and we went through sparkling wine like it was water. I know 3 didn’t drink any alcohol and others were using vodka. We emptied my 4 bottles and I don’t know how much was brought in by others. 🤷🏻♀️
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

Are you setting up all those juices so people can pick? Or mixing all those together? I’ve done this before, but just mixed one juice for the party and had the champagne on the side for spiking. I mixed a punch of one bottle cranberry juice, one bottle orange juice and one can pineapple with orange slices and cranberries for color. It was at Christmas time. Then put it in a pretty glass server. I feel like that would be easier on you and easier for guest to serve with less options
Also if you make one punch, you can make it themed with a certain color to match the party

We do have Costco and I need to go this weekend. Is it the Kirkland brand?

I bought 4 carafes, so I was planning to do them individually.
