We are both 43 and make about $450k a year and have a good amount saved. We don’t want to work into our 60s at least in our careers so we live modestly. Not FIRE modest but never upgraded our cars, don’t have cabins or vacation homes and have normal cars. Don’t travel a ton and just are satisfied with life.
So I hate multipliers because we could easily and expect to live off of $125k or less if needed in retirement. Just so we can retire and not have to worry about food, medical, and shelter with some modest travel. The idea that as your income increases so does your retirement is silly to me. Anything extra we have is going to the kids when we pass.
