I had a last minute dinner date with a friend last night, it was so nice! And I got a delicious shrimp scampi, one of my favorite meals.
I have organizing jobs today and tomorrow and have to pick L up from the airport early tomorrow morning. Looking forward to some downtime tonight and tomorrow night.
Anyone have recs for good dry shampoo? I’ve been using Not Your Mothers, and it’s fine, just wondering if I’m missing out on something better.
Living Propf Advanced Dry Shampoo It doesn’t smell like the original and works. I spray the night before and then wrap my hair in my heatless bouncy Scrunchie thing.
DH is on this kick of watching a movie/show as a family, but OMG the options are terrible. We do have Hulu, but nothing looks worth it. We ended up watching a very cheesy Legends of the Hidden Temple movie last night.
I really like Amika's dry shampoo. It's a little pricey, but the bottles seem to last a long time.
I have to provide dinner to 10 middle schoolers tomorrow night (DS's confirmation class) and 2 of the kids have gluten allergies. I'm not sure what to serve. What would you bring?

I also like the Amika dry shampoo.
How about tacos?
Tacos are a great idea. With salad that could be a side for everyone and a taco salad for our GF friends if they didn’t want a corn tortilla/shell. Merci!

Taco bar? Those with gluten allergies could do taco bowls with rice and fixings if you can't find gluten free shells maybe?

I woke up at 4:30 this morning with the worst stiff neck. I don't know what I was doing in my sleep (I seemed to be in a normal position) but my whole left shoulder is in pain today.
The boys and I saw Avatar last night and I ate way too much popcorn. It’s sitting in my stomach like lead. I’m taking the boys swimming today and should workout while they’re doing that but I’ll probably sit and read my book. I have zero motivation lately.
I signed up for an one day class (9-5) about an hour and half away and am debating if it makes sense to spend the night before or after? At all? The rush hour driving on both sides gives me pause.
They also don’t mention lunch but they have to let us eat, right?
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Is it on a weekday? I am kind of cheap when it comes to hotels so I probably would not. But if it is on a weekday in certain locations I might consider it, or at least leave super early in the morning if not.

It’s a Wednesday. It’s in PA between York and Harrisburg. I don’t know what the traffic is like then. I’ve always just avoided those hours when I’ve gone to either city during the week. It would just be a really long day.

Personally I wouldn't, tacokick, because I wouldn't find the money and the hassle of having to pack and be away from home worth it to avoid a bit of traffic. I'd plan to leave at like 7 am in the hope of getting there before traffic gets bad and having time for a coffee before the class and maybe have an early dinner there before driving home if you want to try to miss the worst of the evening traffic.
FI is gone for the weekend, and I spent last night eating junk food that he wouldn't have wanted to order and watching not one, not two but three episodes of SVU that happened to be on TV. So basically best night ever.

Went out with some workmates last night for dinner (we're trying to do something social every week - really like these women). H is out with friends at a comedy thing this afternoon and I'm enjoying being home alone with the dog. I've done some gardening work and did some weight lifting. Currently watching tv and trying to figure out what we'll have for dinner tonight (I'm thinking shakshuka as it'd be easy and not too heavy). Tomorrow I'm going to a memorial gathering/lunch with a bunch of my field hockey friends to celebrate the life of one of our friends that we lost a few years ago. Haven't seen them in a while so it'll be nice while also sad.
I slept until 11:30! I’m shocked! I have pink eye and my eyes were bugging me last night and I knew I was tired from the week, but man, I had no idea it was this late! Props to my family for leaving me alone and letting me sleep in. One of the first things I saw when I woke up was a FB review of a new Indian place and now I’m craving Indian food. I also have 0 plans to leave the house today, so I’m not sure that will happen.

That does seem like it would be the sensible choice. The actual venue is near literally nothing but maybe I could find something not too far off the route for before and after. Their website had some suggestions about food and lodging but they were all assuming you’d be coming from a different direction that I would be.

Oh, that's a bummer. I was thinking rush hour meant you were going into a city, now I see it's the traffic of cities without any of the convenience. Boo.
Had a really nice morning with DD while DS was at art- we squeezed in Trader Joe's, brunch, and a little shopping. Then Target and grocery pick ups, and my mom met us at Target and took DD home with her to do some crafting.
DS is on the phone playing Minecraft with a friend, I need to do some chores and a workout and then we'll probably play some board games.
It's so nice to have nothing else scheduled for the weekend.
Both kids still have Covid fevers, so our options are limited to the house. I'm really bummed, too. We had tickets to a chocolate and cheese festival at the natural history museum tomorrow, but there's no way either of them will be healthy enough, and H and I are still continuously exposed so we shouldn't be going/unmasking in public either.
My daughter got her haircut this morning and it went so smoothly! The woman I use has her own studio, so it was a lot less chaotic than the typical salon, so I think that helped. I'm really looking forward to not dealing with combing out knots every night!
I also took DD shopping for clothes and to brunch. It was such a nice time with the two of us!
We're going over the neighbors' house tonight for pizza, then coming home to do a movie night. I love our neighbors, but can't quite believe I need to leave the house again.

My husband finally got offered a real full time teaching position with a contract and everything! He’s only been a permanent sub teaching 4 classes (but getting paid the sub rate) for the last year. I’m so proud of him. He loves teaching. I know others are running away from public education but I’m hoping this is a good fit for him. I am also interested to see what the benefits are like. This is also my old high school which is wild to me (although it’s a new building-they tore down the old one).
He’s excited about decorating his classroom now that’s it’s going to actually be his classroom.
Don’t worry-he’s teaching social studies and not culinary. 😁😄
ETA-I don’t mean anything negative by saying people are running away from education-now that I have more personal experience with public education and hear what happens firsthand it’s no wonder why people get burned out and frustrated.
Today I slept in, worked out, and then my H and I went to a couple of stores. He rarely goes shopping but for whatever reason suggested joining me today. He had some not so great bloodwork recently so he's trying to eat better and exercise more, which is great - I've been worrying about his sugar intake and lack of movement since working from home so I'm glad he's getting on track. Anyway, it was nice to pick stuff out at the grocery together. We also grabbed lunch at a local sandwich place that is really good.
We went to a bird store, too, and bought a hummingbird feeder. It's a little early in the season for it but the girl working there said that by the end of March we could put it out. I'm excited! The squirrels have been eating all our birdseed lately so we bought a spicy seed to try to deter them, but right now a squirrel is still going after it!

I got a cut and color today. I love it when I have fresh hair!
My husband has the same appointment time with her, she does him in between letting my dye sit. She does a great job on his hair, but she and I can't have conversations like I used to be able to have before he started coming. 🙄
