I gotta get away from in ear earbud types. I actually love my current earbuds, but I have recently been wearing them more because I'm now really into podcasts, and as a result my ears are making more wax. I already have ear issues being hearing impaired since birth. The upshot is that a few weeks ago, I essentially suddenly lost most hearing in one ear. I just had my ENT appointment, and very luckily for me it was just due to a major wax blockage (had one in both ears actually).
I'm reading that anything in the ears is going to increase wax and I've already recently started wearing hearing aids again since the first time in over 30 years. Anyway I won't go on and on about that, but I see there is a type of headphones that goes around the ear and the speaker thingy is right next to it.
Does anyone have this type and can you recommend yours? All I need it to have is a built in microphone for phone calls and volume/pause buttons. I have a preference for wired but I think most are hands free. The price range is crazy - $30-$200! I just want to listen to my podcasts and sometimes music and asmr videos!
I can’t wear any that go in my ear because it is incredibly painful for some reason. I just got Shockz in December and they are great. I don’t use them for calls, just for listening to things, but they are so comfortable. They are Bluetooth, not wired, but they may sell wired also, I’m not sure on that.
i have started running again, and just bought a pair of Shokz - I love them so much more than my air pods. There are two sizes - if you have a best buy nearby, they have them out so you can try them on. I ended up getting the mini's. I haven't tried using them for any calls.
My hearing aids have a Bluetooth option so I can listen to podcasts through my hearing aids. Would that be an option? The downside is that ppl will come in and start talking to me when I’m listening to something because they can’t see anything over my ears! Edit: reading fail. I didn’t read thoroughly to realize you were needing them with a microphone. 🤦🏻♀️
Ha ha, maybe someday the basic retail hearing aids will be upgraded to bluetooth capability. Someone does need to invent an easier way to connect HAs to devices so wearers don't have to keep taking them out and putting them back in. But for getting back in the hearing aid saddle, you cannot beat $300 for a pair that are SO LIGHT and comfortable (for real, if you know anyone who has some loss of hearing, tell them about mdhearing.com! It took these to make me willing to wear them daily again for the first time in 37 years)
Everyone seems to have Shockz, but there are lots of models?? what do you all have??

I have Shokz OpenRun and love them, they are very comfortable and lightweight! I was right on the edge of sizes and went down to mini- that was the right choice. The battery lasts a really long time too.
