DH left at 4 am to go to the airport and will be gone until late on Wednesday for a work conference, so I'm solo parenting for a few days. My parents will be coming over on Wednesday like they usually do, so at least they will be able to pick up DS after track practice. It's the mornings that are rough, though. I give so much credit to parents who do this solo every day!
I am battling a bit of a cold and the time change didn't help (plus not really falling back to sleep after DH left this morning), so I foresee an early bedtime in my future today.

My kid’s doctor was running 40 minutes behind today. With all the technology we have, I don’t understand why they can’t contact us and let us know.
Troll prayers apparently go unanswered because our offer was accepted!!!
Huzzah!! So exciting! When we got our camper I was sort of wishing we had gotten a cabin instead and now that we've sold our camper I'm putting a cabin back on the wish list!!

Luckily DS1 doesn't need to go to the ENT anymore, but when he did they were notoriously late like 2 hours was the norm, but we had to show up on time or if we were late to wait we'd lose our spot. One time I got their earliest appointment. That should have worked right? Nope,an hour later I asked what the hold up was as we were the first there. Oh, he's running late...at the surgery center. He wasn't even in the building. They totally could have sent us a text. We left and never went back.
I’m off this week with DS for March Break and we have no plans. I’m committed to using this week to do spring cleaning, though - I want to tackle a thing or two each day. Today I did cleaned the baseboards (umm, LONG overdue), vacuumed, and I bribed DS to take a Mr. Clean to all the marks on the walls. Looks better already!
I had to have my paraguard swapped out today (that 10 years FLEW by!) and it was a little painful but overall not too bad but now the cramps are kicking my butt a little bit. Dr said to expect them but either they weren't this bad last time or I just forgot. I'm in the office today but dang I'm wishing I was at home in my comfy chair with a heating pad or something.
I have a pretty long to do list but like so many others the time change has me messed up and I just want to take a nap. Normally it doesn't bother me that much but I had to get up early yesterday so I think the combo of the 2 has made it a little worse this time around.
I am an elder millennial attempting a middle part today. Since I've done a side part for so long, I can't tell if this just doesn't look good on me, or if my eyes need time to get used to the new look.

I got a random text message today from an unknown number asking me if I was bringing the paper work to the meeting or if I needed (random number) to stop by the office and grab it. Since it seemed semi-legit, I responded saying they had the wrong number.
BIG REGRET. Now this person is trying to chat with me. What? No. That wasn't an invitation to talk to me, lol.

My kid got some sort of Japanese hard candy from a kid for valentines day and I jut ate. It's so tasty!! I might need to go to the Asian grocery store to try to find it. All I know is that it's Honeydew flavored and has the work "Milfrutts" on it.
Ugh I did not sleep well at all last night, maybe 2-3 hours. My kids were super hard to wake up this morning, too. I anticipate crankiness for kids and adults this evening!
My H is considering taking a job with a 30K pay cut. There’s no way I’m going to say no—he’s really excited about this job—but I will miss that money! We had *one year* where we didn’t have to economize so much, which was so relaxing, not having to balance priorities all the time. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

We're getting a nor'easter tomorrow and we're in the area that is going to start as rain and then flip to snow at some point, but since they don't know when that will be they can't really say how much we'll get. I have to take my dad into Boston for an 8:15am appointment tomorrow and driving with him is stressful enough on a sunny day. I swear I may put him in the third row and crank the music.
Just had my 2nd interview this afternoon. I think I did really well. One of the six didn't look like he was thrilled about being there, but I'm wasn't focused on why because it was not about me. I figure he was having a bad Monday or something deeply personal happened.
I think it would be a great fit! I HOPE I impressed them, they asked me what I liked and could improve on with their website and I said the content and navigation were solid, but I would do an overall audit because I found a few wrong links and one person's name was cut off when it was looked at on my iPad. They reacted to that, and even one wrote it down.
They have no vacation policy, unlimited and they trust their employees to manage their work week if they need to take off for appointments, etc. The office is beautiful, so modern, and welcoming. The min pay they shared is 14% more than what I made before. It would be a game-changer.
Cashing in all my Karma points for this one. I told my husband, if this worked out, I will be floored because. 1. It would be the shortest time I was unemployed in my life. 2. I landed this ALL while navigating moving my mom into her assisted living, moving her finances, healthcare, etc. 3. Its work ethic and values are completely opposite of where I was before. Super-focused, open to ideas but acknowledge they can't do it all, noted that they don't micromanage staff, collaborate and recognize that they have to be mindful of marketing deadlines with the mindset that it's not always do or die if not met that day.
Off to write thank yous.....do you think handwriting notes, typed letters, or an email is best? Granted, some of them are Type A men.
I decided to say fuck it and started sleep training last night. I knew the time change would be a pain anyway, so we just went all in and no one got any sleep 😅 At least hopefully I'm exhausted because we are on track for better sleep for everyone rather than just being tired because of the dumb time change. Did NOT like how dark it was when we got up though, that's the worst.
We're forecast to get 12-18 inches tomorrow. Winter really waited until March to show up! H is out with DD1 getting takeout and hopefully some crafts or activities to occupy tomorrow if we have to keep her home.

I had to take a new job with a 27K pay cut. I guess I didn't have to, but my job was being eliminated at the end of March and I applied at a bazillion different places and this was my first offer. And I have around 25 coworkers from the last job that went to this new place prior to me and couldn't stop raving about the work environment and how the pay cut was worth. I'm about 6 weeks in now and I love it. Great environment and coworkers, I'm learning new skills that I enjoy and I only get a little teary eyed on payday lol. If you guys can afford the cut i think it's worth it to find a job you are excited about.

Send emails. Handwritten notes can sometimes not arrive in time, or not be opened at all. Even if some of them don’t read your email, they’ll at least notice your name in their email box and know that you were sending a thank you. I hardly ever receive receive anything via post for work anymore.

DS is on day 6 of being sick. We let him ride to the store last night. I ran in to grab what we needed while he and H stayed in the car. He was coughing on the way home. I asked if he was okay. In his true old man antics responded he didn’t think he would make it through the night. I swear he’s 7 trapped in a 90 year old body. He is so dramatic and grumpy like an old man. He told DD he was looking for places to retire the other day. 😂 I am still amazed at how different my kids are. They have no similarities in looks either.

Oh that’s weird, my son spiked a fever today too. After going to get DD at her bus. (He was off school today). He was fine before, that’s so weird!

I woke up this morning with a sore throat, running nose, slight fever and body aches. Not covid or the flu. I guess I'm going to have to wait it out. Ugh

Today is his first low grade/no fever day since this started

My 7YO boy is exactly like this—wildly dramatic and thinking about two decades ahead. He has mentioned Florida for retirement and when he was 4, he asked me if I could tell his college professors that his name is Jack, not Zack, when he goes to college because sometimes people thought he said Zack. What 4YO is thinking about college or professors?! I didn’t even know those things existed.
