How the F is it only Tuesday?!?! Longest. Week. Ever.
Kid had a spring type thing pop off her braces so now we get to take a trip to the Ortho because she doesn't trust me or H to cut the wire for her. Which honestly I'm ok with because I didn't want to do myself anyway!

Agree on the Tuesday point. We recently transitioned from 3 days in the office to 4. I actually like working in the office but commuting Mon-Thurs is bringing me down.
The weather is gross. I have a client meeting in downtown NYC this morning which I usually love b/c it’s closer to my apartment than my office but changing up my commute to have to schlep uptown to my office after the meeting in rain and snow is not fun.
I had the most intense hot flash this morning while I was getting ready for work - I go into the office on Tuesdays. Out of nowhere it hit and the sweat was pouring off. So gross, I feel like I haven't showered. I threw open all of the bedroom windows because I needed cold air NOW.

This is such a minor thing, but sometimes those irk the most. A show we bought tickets for was canceled and of course they refund, minus those processing fees.
Taking DD and 2 friends rock wall climbing and to dinner then off to swim practice. It snowed a small amount over night and we have the fireplace on this morning. I don't think any of us are feeling effects from DST, but we are on spring break right now.
We have our washer being delivered today and the guy just called to update on the delivery time. When I answered the phone he started off with “Good morning sir, I’m calling…” 😳 I guess I need another coffee…
I am looking for rechargeable light bulbs and am paralyzed with decision. I'm remodeling our kitchen, and will have a peninsula that I want to put pendant lights over. For a variety of reasons, hard wiring them is not an option, so I found a blog that said you can turn almost any pendant fixture into a battery powered one as long as you use rechargeable bulbs. They provided a source link for the ones they used, but the pendants I want take a different style connection. I searched for some other options with my connection and the reviews are so mixed on them that I'm worried they won't fit what I need. Ugh, I hate making decisions like this.
Anyone have an rechargeable light bulbs you love? Bonus points if it's an E26 connection.

Interesting. I have never heard of rechargeable bulbs. But just looking quickly at one brand of bulb on Amazon, the bulb only lasts 4 hours and take 8 hours to recharge. Is that typical for the bulbs you are looking at and if so, is that a viable solution for kitchen lighting? Is the plan to buy 2 or 3 extra for each fixture, keep them charging and then rotate when the run out?
Ooooh I have a half day today and it’s crappy weather. I should make a pie…I have apples and blueberries.
I have a bit of a rant. Sometimes I’ll ask H to put the food away after I cook-he always does it but sometimes he just takes the pan and covers it and puts it right in the fridge! This is so wrong to me for some reason. He says it’s preventing extra dishes but that sounds like weaponized incompetence talk (😂). Now that my mom is retired she’s not as up to date on the latest ServSafe guidelines. It’s wrong, right?!

Lol - I do this all the time! Pots, serving dishes, they all go into the fridge (after they’ve cooled down a bit).

Processing fees not being refunded drives me bananas. I understand it but if the venue cancels it you’d think they’d absorb the costs. I had a venue charge me a processing fee to return my money from tickets I had bought in person (to avoid the processing fee) before! Again to an event they canceled.
I am still annoyed we bought tickets to an event at a botanical garden over the summer but there were violent thunderstorms so we didn’t go. At the time we would have had to leave to get there in time the event was still happening but then they did cancel it.
We knew the tickets were not refundable when we bought them but they canceled the event and still didn’t refund anything. Which I guess was their policy but the wording read to me that if you chose not to attend they were not refundable not that if the venue shut down they wouldn’t refund you.
When I asked about a refund they said that we could have used the tickets to come earlier in the day when they were open but the event we were going to (and paying over admission price for) was at 7 pm and while we might have gone early had it been nice weather, it wasn’t so we waited and hoped it would stop in time for the event.
It’s really made us think twice about going there again which I can’t imagine is the outcome they’d want! ETA I was reminded of this because their processing fee was over 1/4 of the not cheap ticket price.
I applied to be a sub in the local school district in January. I have heard back that I was hired pending clearances and other documentation. I had to do my fingerprinting twice, as the first round images couldn't be processed. A month ago I went in for onboarding. We were missing one clearance (I had paid for it, but it was never done, so I worked that out) and was able to submit it the next day. I hadn't heard from them, so contacted them a week later, crickets. Last week I tried again and they need two additional things (that were not brought up at onboarding). One was a training completion certificate, sent right away. One is my undergrad transcript. I forwarded the email that their office had received and downloaded it. Three business days have passed and nothing. I have never worked so hard to get a job a barely want! I am trying to slowly get back into the working world and this is not the way to do it!
I have been doing intensive therapy for what feels like forever. As opposed to getting easier, the last couple of weeks have been exhausting. I almost feel hungover today. I know this is necessary, and will be good, and I am not stopping, but there are moments, like wanting to crawl into bed at 7:00 that make me question my choices. Healing is a long and complicated process.
Has anyone used Merit Beauty? I basically stopped wearing makeup during the pandemic (and never wore a ton to begin with) but now that we're going out more and we have a wedding we're going to in April and I'd like to find some simple, easy makeup that will just help me look polished, you know? I mostly want to brighten my undereye and add a bit of color to my cheeks so their Skin Set looks like it would fit the bill.

I don’t think it’s necessarily unsafe but it’s inconvenient when I need the pan to cook the next day, plus I think it takes up too much room in the fridge. Team you.

These pendant lights (just 2) will rarely be used, more when I have food out for entertaining. They are just going to be over the peninsula, not my main light source. These are the ones I'm eyeing, that say they charge while being used, but the thing giving me pause is their size.
I was supposed to go to the Eastern Shore for an errand today but there is a wind advisory for the Bay Bridge and they are apparently getting periods of “heavy snow”?! Eek! The bridge is horrifying on non windy day. It’s not snowing here so I’m glad I checked, I feel like that could have turned into a real nightmare scenario. I’ve been trapped on that bridge once and never again.

I wish I had pie, yet not enough to make one!
Sub onboarding has been a pain in every district I have ever worked in. And every district has been desperate for subs, and I am a certified teacher. I didn't work in one district during the year that they were mostly virtual due to covid, and I contacted their HR department the following year to find out if I was still on their list to sub the next year and she was like, oh, no, we removed you, and I was like, can you put me back on the list? And she was like, you need to go back through the application process and submit references and all that again, and I was like really, don't you have my file and you can't just reactivate me? And she said no, and I said ok, I'll just sub at my other districts then. I'm friendly with the principal in that district and I mentioned it to him the next time I saw him, and guess what, the next week the HR person emailed me and was like, oh, we decided to reativate you, can you just update this one clearance that expires every year and you'll be good to go and I was like lol sure.
But since then I've been sure to work at least 1 day in any district I want to stay active in to avoid that hassle ever again. Hopefully for you it will all be over soon, and I can say that at least for me, once all the paperwork is initially out of the way, taking jobs is easy, the actual work is easy and enjoyable, and the only hassle is keeping your clearances up to date however often is required.
Oldest kid had a track meet yesterday and needed to be picked up at midnight. The late pick up plus the mess of from DST, made for a really shitty night sleep. This morning I feel sick/hungover and I didn't drink. My body can't handle a night of disrupted sleep any longer. ugh
And despite it being Spring Break, I have a busy day. boo

We added some kids to our troop last night and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. We’re in a “try out phase” with them, because my co and I were afraid maybe we were taking on more than we’re capable of handling.

DS is back to giving me a hard time in the mornings and crying at drop off. He's saying his stomach hurts (and it might) but I think he has it in his head that he stayed home with me when he sick.

Any advice? This is killing me.
How old?
My DD exhibits anxiety through stomach aches and other tummy troubles. We just worked with the school nurse on a plan to give her 10-20 minutes of quiet/lay down time, a visit to the nurse’s private bathroom, and then back to her classroom.
If you don’t have a teacher or a nurse who can cut you a deal like that, I think the best way to separate is a big hug, an, “I’m sorry your tummy is bugging you, but I bet when you get started on your day, you’ll start to feel better. I love you so much! See you this afternoon!” and walking away is the only way to go.

I do! I just got it a couple of weeks ago but I’m really liking it. The complexion stick is really nice. I wanted something to cover some redness and under eye without being a full on foundation, and it seems to do the job. I also really like the blush. It lasts all day. Also, don’t sleep on their brush. It’s really good to blend out the complexion stick.

Good to know! The Skin Set does come with the brush. I just need to wait for the lightest shade of the highlighter to be back in stock.
Snow day today, which is funny considering it is all rain so far. But it is supposed to switch to snow soon and once it does, it will get bad fast. But it is interesting to hear all the people complaining about the call. I feel bad for the superintendent, they can't win!
I wish I had the day off. Both kids are home and so happy, I want to enjoy the day off with them.
