Snow day today, which is funny considering it is all rain so far. But it is supposed to switch to snow soon and once it does, it will get bad fast. But it is interesting to hear all the people complaining about the call. I feel bad for the superintendent, they can't win!
I wish I had the day off. Both kids are home and so happy, I want to enjoy the day off with them.
They really can't win. We had school today but afterschool is cancelled. Not looking forward to heading out right when its supposed to ramp up with the snow and wind to grab them! We have a big cargo bike community here and I was surprised (and impressed) to see so many parents biking their kids to school this morning in the POURING rain. I wimped out and drove (we usually walk or bike).
It's DH's birthday and we're supposed to go to a steakhouse for dinner with mom and DS. DS had his phone on a pay-as-you-go plan with Boost Mobile which had been great until Dish bought them. They've been experiencing an "internal technical issue" which means he couldn't top up and hasn't had service since 2/23ish. He's ordered a new phone from Mint which was supposed to arrive Friday and is now coming today. I'm not sure if he'll need to sign for it, so dinner may need to be postponed. DH is cool with it, but I don't want to cook.
Plus DS is in a foul mood because his Vyvanse needs a preauthorization and the pharmacy's fax isn't getting to the doctor's office. An unmedicated DS without a phone is not a person I want in my house.
This morning when I did my makeup my eyebrow pencil ran out after I'd done one side. I usually have other pencils on hand, but this time I was out of Benefit's 2.3 and only had a 3 on hand. I had to remove and start over.
I do! I just got it a couple of weeks ago but I’m really liking it. The complexion stick is really nice. I wanted something to cover some redness and under eye without being a full on foundation, and it seems to do the job. I also really like the blush. It lasts all day. Also, don’t sleep on their brush. It’s really good to blend out the complexion stick.
Good to know! The Skin Set does come with the brush. I just need to wait for the lightest shade of the highlighter to be back in stock.
I should have added - I make sure my face is super hydrated before using the complexion stick. Since it’s cream, it can dry down a bit and be a little patchy if you aren’t hydrated. If you are, it’s no problem and lasts well throughout the day.

That's impressive!
They made the right call for us. It switched to snow 20 mins ago and the snow is heavy! The roads and grass are already covered.
These pendant lights (just 2) will rarely be used, more when I have food out for entertaining. They are just going to be over the peninsula, not my main light source. These are the ones I'm eyeing, that say they charge while being used, but the thing giving me pause is their size.
But I think they will only charge while in use if they are hardwired to some electricity. Otherwise they will just be drawing from the battery.
Oh, true. Argh. They make battery powered pendant lights too, just nothing that's caught my eye. Thanks for pointing that out (which now is super obvious to me, I blame DST, lol).

If I were you I would try to get hardwired lights... you could surface mount the wire and cover them in a raceway conduit.
Oldest kid had a track meet yesterday and needed to be picked up at midnight. The late pick up plus the mess of from DST, made for a really shitty night sleep. This morning I feel sick/hungover and I didn't drink. My body can't handle a night of disrupted sleep any longer. ugh
And despite it being Spring Break, I have a busy day. boo
Right there with you today. One of DH's friends works for NASA and offered us a chance to see some behind the scenes stuff on how astronauts train and to meet a current astronaut. It was a really cool experience but we had to wake up super early yesterday and be there at a ridiculous hour. DD has bounced back fine. I still feel sick from the lack of sleep. This was yesterday.
Has anyone used Merit Beauty? I basically stopped wearing makeup during the pandemic (and never wore a ton to begin with) but now that we're going out more and we have a wedding we're going to in April and I'd like to find some simple, easy makeup that will just help me look polished, you know? I mostly want to brighten my undereye and add a bit of color to my cheeks so their Skin Set looks like it would fit the bill.
Yes. I love the flush balm blush and the bronze balm. I haven’t tried the complexion stick but I think I might pick it up during the Sephora sale.

Ooooh I have a half day today and it’s crappy weather. I should make a pie…I have apples and blueberries.
I have a bit of a rant. Sometimes I’ll ask H to put the food away after I cook-he always does it but sometimes he just takes the pan and covers it and puts it right in the fridge! This is so wrong to me for some reason. He says it’s preventing extra dishes but that sounds like weaponized incompetence talk (😂). Now that my mom is retired she’s not as up to date on the latest ServSafe guidelines. It’s wrong, right?!
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus
I was supposed to go to the Eastern Shore for an errand today but there is a wind advisory for the Bay Bridge and they are apparently getting periods of “heavy snow”?! Eek! The bridge is horrifying on non windy day. It’s not snowing here so I’m glad I checked, I feel like that could have turned into a real nightmare scenario. I’ve been trapped on that bridge once and never again.
We live on Kent Island and the wind is INSANE. No way I'd be going over the bridge today unless I absolutely had to (and I'm not even scared of crossing it!). The bay is angry today!
I went to a baby shower this weekend. My mom says to ‘barabara’ oh are you ‘Betty’s’ mom? Barbara and Betty are not related at all, and only 5yrs apart 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ and my mom is in the same age range. I was like, ok, we’re out!
She felt horrible and Betty does look much older, but like why would you even say that? I didn’t give her too hard of a time bc she already felt so bad, but damn 😂.
There was no alcohol and she doesn’t drink!
I have two big cabbages, some carrots and a few potatoes from st paddy’s parades this weekend:) not sure what I’m making yet.

Good to know I made the right choice and stayed close to home!!
It's raining! For the first time in months. We need it badly as there have been a lot of fires recently. Everywhere smells of smoke. Let's hope it keeps going for a while.

The time change this year is KILLING me. I just woke up from an impromptu nap - for the third day in a row! I HATE naps because I'm not one of those people who wakes up from one feeling refreshed. LOL guess my body is telling me to thill TF out.
I'm also super tired today! I generally sleep about 11-7 and don't find myself to be super tired ever, but I am struggling today. Totally phoned in my workout (though I do feel a little more energetic after moving). I don't usually do more than 1 coffee but I may need a pick-me-up this afternoon.
I’m so over winter. We haven’t even had a bad one here. It’s been just cold enough that I don’t want to do anything ever, and being unemployed and going through a divorce has turned me in to a total sloth. I just want the weather to warm up enough so that I can get outside and do something. I’m such a summer baby, I need the sun!

We're hosting DD's lacrosse team dinner tonight. Originally her coach said it would only be varsity, then we come to find out JV was also invited, then we find out the coach won't be here - she wants it to be the team only for bonding.
I thought we would only be providing the food and location - so we would cook for 16ish girls and then would step out of the picture and allow the coach to oversee everything. But now it is 30+ girls with no coach so I feel like we have to be "on" for the entire night.
DS is back to giving me a hard time in the mornings and crying at drop off. He's saying his stomach hurts (and it might) but I think he has it in his head that he stayed home with me when he sick.
Any advice? This is killing me.
How old?
My DD exhibits anxiety through stomach aches and other tummy troubles. We just worked with the school nurse on a plan to give her 10-20 minutes of quiet/lay down time, a visit to the nurse’s private bathroom, and then back to her classroom.
If you don’t have a teacher or a nurse who can cut you a deal like that, I think the best way to separate is a big hug, an, “I’m sorry your tummy is bugging you, but I bet when you get started on your day, you’ll start to feel better. I love you so much! See you this afternoon!” and walking away is the only way to go.
5, though with a developmental delay.
His teacher is amazing at distracting him and giving one on one time so I can leave. I like the verbiage you used. I'll try that tomorrow!

I felt like shite yesterday - exhausted and headaches. Downstairs this morning and discovered I hadn't had my cup of coffee in the morning - it was sitting next to the couch where I usually have my coffee but I must have gotten caught up in something and not drank it. The lack of one cup of double espresso had such an impact on me. (Probably not slept well too, but I usually can power through).
Today was much better - remembered to drink my coffee. And the day went well.
We have our clock change two weeks after all of you, so not looking forward to that.
I crashed hard with a nap yesterday when I got home from work, and slept for 1.5 hours! My Fitbit shows I slept pretty well, too. Not sure if that truly caught me up, but I feel a lot less tired today. Thank goodness - I have a lot of work to do tonight.
It is cold here today but no snow locally. I didn't even know that was a possibility so I'm glad I didn't get a nasty surprise on my way in today. One of the people in my new hire orientation class this week said she got an inch of snow where she lives!
