I’m looking for suggestions for body positive, healthy at any size, and anti-diet-culture content creators on social media. My counselor suggested that seeing more of this content (while ruthlessly removing harmful content) might make me feel more supported and surrounded by positive messages.
In another thread, underwaterrhymes posted about Running Fat Chef on Facebook. Does anyone else have any good suggestions on where to find this kind of content? I’m hoping that if I seek out a handful of these content creators, the algorithms will take over and fill my feed with more.
Please only suggest body positive, healthy at any size, and anti-diet-culture content. I don’t need to see what skinny people eat in a day to stay skinny, or workouts to “blast my belly fat.”
I am actually in a pretty good loop because I started following mid-size fashion accounts. They are all roughly a size 14, with some 12 and 16 thrown in. They are all focused on just loving the body you are in. Now I just keep getting recommended more like them.
I recommend her a lot and I swear I'm not affiliated, but I love @taryntruly on Instagram.
I also follow: @life_with_rachel (some of her content is also about leaving the Mormon church, but it's mostly normalizing regular bodies)
@caralynmirand @shopchicsoul (this is a store, but it's all larger size clothes and models) @catieli
Oh and @adflorea is a gem. She is one of the backup dancers on the Fitness Marshall on YouTube.
ETA: I might have misunderstood the assignment. None of these are really explicitly about weight/anti-diet. They are just people creating positive content at the size they are, which happens to be the same size I am. I have a tendency to want to hide in baggy clothes or not even try to look fashionable because then I can't be bad at it. I like seeing people looking amazing at the same size that I am.

I love the following on Insta:
TheJuicyBodyGoddess (she focuses on plus-sized fashion and just makes people feel so good about their bodies)
Plus_sized_oudoors (self explanatory)
Erikcavanaugh (in addition to being fat, he’s a gay ballet dancer)
I follow a number of body positive content creators because I feel like I need to do a lot of work breaking down all of the shit my parents and grandparents baked into me about my body and other people’s bodies. It’s so much to unpack.
I finally started listening to the Maintenance Phase a couple of weeks ago and I'm addicted. They are really great - entertaining and funny, likeable, and SO interesting when talking about so many aspects of our lives that have been screwed up due to diet culture. So many things I forgot about or didn't think too hard about that are so, so messed up.
This one sounds obvious but on Instagram I follow Lizzo because she's amazing in general but she also is just like a ray of sunshine and positivity, including body positivity.

Do you use TikTok? If so, I have suggestions for that, and once you’re on TikTok the algorithm will give you lots of good suggestions. However, I also know there’s lots of issues with this platform, so I don’t know if you want them.

I don’t use Tik Tok….too many security briefings have warned me not to!! But I do watch reels on my FB feed like an old person.
She isn’t necessarily posting all about body positivity, but she regularly posts about being 3x, posts clothing, life as plus size and is generally upbeat. I like her 🤷🏻♀️ Kristen.cook.kac
Bonniewyrick is a plus size fashion influencer too who embraces her curves
Maintenance phase listeners- should I start at the beginning or is this one I came jump in at any point?
I started at the beginning but they are not related to each other (much) so you can pick what topics interest you if you want. They do sometimes pull in jokes or references to past topics but I don't think it would hurt anything if you didn't know the reference.

I like dieticiananna on insta.
I think your therapist is on to something. I used to get pushed a lot of diet exercise stuff. Once I started actively opted out of those creators, I started getting more puppies and national parks and my mood seems better.

Jump in. My first episodes were the Rachel Hollis ones, which I actually listened to a second time recently.
Maintenance Phase is awesome! I'm always texting my friends the day a new episode comes out. One of them even has her husband asking "Have you listened yet?"
Another IG follow: authemmie. I first learned about Emily Ho from a Pantsuit Politics episode. She is lovely.
I also follow caralynmirand that someone else mentioned. (ETA: yes @ she is pregnant)

There is so much really bad content out there. Not just harmful but outright untrue. Even though I’ve been trying to remove it, sometimes it creeps back in and I find myself engaging with it before I realize that I do NOT want to see this!!! Puppies and kittens and national parks are awesome. Positive body talk is awesome.
