My mom had a pacemaker put in 10 years ago. She is getting the battery replaced today and I just got word from my dad that the procedure is done and it all went well. The procedure is pretty straight forward but she's 82 so I was a little worried about the anesthesia.

When DS was little he had a rash on his chest. Daycare said he needed a note to come back so we went to the pediatrician's and she thought it was viral but tested him for strep out of "an abundance of caution" and low and behold it was positive.
Add me to the list of this is the longest week ever and being exhausted. We're going out tomorrow night to a trivia fundraiser and I know we will have fun, but man I wish I was just vegging on the couch. That will be my Saturday night....lol.
I am soo annoyed with my older sister right now. I handle all things health-related for both of my parents and my older brother (he had a stroke about 5 years ago) because neither of my sisters can be bothered to lift a finger to help.
Well, my older sister decided now that it really isn't a good idea for her not to have access to all of the passwords and files "in case something should happen to me". (I keep everything in electronic files because ya know, it is the year 2023.) so her grand idea is for me to make 3 ring binders filled with paper copies of all of their information.
But she never mentioned a word about helping me out with anything, just that I should make all these books for her.
Sorry, but our father has an appointment today I am taking him too, so I am busy. I'll be sure to put that on my to-do list though. uugghh!
Every day this week I've woken up thinking it was Thursday. This morning I woke up thinking it was Friday.
This week really just needs to end 😪
OMG same. This has been the LONGEST WEEK EVER. It is awful.
Over the next week, I have more plans than I've had in the last 6 months. 6 nights out of the next 9 days. Most of them are fun, aside from 2 kids bday parties in the evenings (why are you scheduling an 8 yo's party from 4-6 PM on Saturday? No thank you!). So it should be fun stuff, but I'm a homebody and I'm feeling exhausted just looking at the calendar.
spindle92, that's so annoying. I'd tell her to let you know when she wants to come over and make her binders and you will be happy to provide the info she needs. Put it back on her and I'm sure it will never happen.
My walking and standing aren't the greatest at the moment due to my MS. But I want to go to a concert over the carnival season with my friends. No seating is provided. I could walk with a small camping stool that I use but I hate being low when everyone else is standing up. I like it when I have a bar height stool to sit on as then I can talk to people standing etc.
Is there any such thing as a portable standing height stool that I could use?

I had a MRI yesterday to check for progression in my MS. No new lesions, but I’m having a flair up. The neurologist report showed me hundreds of photos from the scan. It looks so cool!
I quit as PTO president on Tuesday. I feel amazing. I’m sick of being taken advantage of, so I’m completely walking away. The other board members are going nuts because they didn’t realize how much I was responsible for behind the scenes. One kept calling me dozens of times until I turned off my phone. I finally agreed to talk and it was nothing but a kiss up conversation. Nope! I’m not coming in to save your asses after being treated like crap for so long.

Thanks. I was hoping for something a bit smaller to carry but I guess that they need to be pretty substantial to be steady when they are taller.
And good news on the no new lesions! I haven't had any for 2 years now, despite having a couple of flares in that period. Hope your flare dies down soon
I have another interview this afternoon for a different position and then another place I applied to just asked for an interview next week. This is crazy! I REALLY want the other place where I had my 2nd interview to update me because that's the one I really want right now. They said one week, and I wonder if they plan to update tomorrow so whoever they ask will have the weekend to think it over, but who knows! They may ask for references....a final interview. no idea.
One of my girls used to vomit with strep and with ear infections, too. #anecdotes
Also, add me to the list of exhausted! And I went to bed with the kids, around 8:30. I woke up a few times, thinking it was time to get up, only to find out it was still the middle of the night, but I didn't otherwise have a bad night. Makes no sense.
My cleaners are coming. Yay!
Question: I know cargo shorts are the butt of the joke when it comes to middle-age men. But are cargo pants a big no-no for women? I mean, I'm not exactly a fashionista and can't say I typically worry too much about "trends," but are these hideous? I think they're cute, but maybe I'm nuts.
Amazon link for paper bag waist pants - khaki cargo I bought the gray, which don't have cargo pockets, and the length is a little off. I don't know why every color in this listing is technically a different style, but I want to see if the length varies, too.
I want some casual summer pants for, well, summer and also an April vacation in Florida. I have heavy legs and really am not comfortable in shorts. I used to wear jeans all summer, so I'm making strides!
Cargo pants for women are all the rage this season. So I say buy them!
Covid people: anyone have her sense of smell and taste diminished, but not gone entirely?
I swear I can still smell and taste a little, but it may be phantom senses and context clues.
Me! I had Covid for the first time a few weeks ago. My taste was fine, but I was making dinner one night and was cooking with tons of garlic. Suddenly realized I couldn't really smell it. I mean it was very faint. I walked around trying to smell other things and I could faintly smell coffee, oranges, and lilies. And for some things I could get an initial whiff of it but then it would be gone.
My smell is already mostly back though so it didn't seem to last long.
Last night we saw the ISS fly overhead. It was fairly easy to figure out where to look with this website: spotthestation.nasa.gov/. The ISS just looked like a star that was moving REALLY fast across the sky. It's hard to believe there were people in it!
You can download an app, ISS spotter, and set notifications for when it flies over. Never get tired of seeing it.

Joining the tired crew. I woke up two nights ago at 3am and never fell back asleep and last night was up twice during the night and struggled to fall back asleep. And I don't have the change of time as an excuse (we spring forward next weekend). Hoping to sleep better tonight so I don't end up getting ill (feeling like I have a slight sore throat right now which could become something).

Somehow, someone got ahold of my credit card number and charged a moissonite ring that was mailed to me. No identifying address. So frustrating. When I get my bill, I'll dispute it. I think the law is that if I didn't order it, but I got it anyway, I keep it. I don't even like it!

Wait, they stole your card to order something but had it sent to you? That seems like a waste of effort on their part.

One solution that may be helpful that we found and pushed hard to utilize (with both sets of parents) is LastPass or a similar secure “vault” for sites/passwords. It’s the best way we found to share sites and passwords - as related to health or any online account/bill/record. I can login on my phone or any computer, anywhere (my laptop, my H’s laptop, my parent’s computer). All updated passwords get saved automatically, too. A binder is great until a password changes, or you add a new doctor - then it’s obsolete. So, that would be immediately.
I only recommend this because it may be helpful for YOU and then as a bonus, it passively gives others access to accounts/passwords, too. You also get to decide what you share and what you keep private - all within LastPass. Sorry no one is helping!
Actually, they are legal as pets in many states. So maybe you can.
I just checked, illegal in California. I must content myself with Hedgehog Instagram.
Honestly, they kind of suck as pets anyway. I had one for a while and ended up rehoming it. He was mostly just wanted to sit still or in a ball when he was out, and when he wasn't doing that he was pooping everywhere. His cage stunk and I had to give him regular baths AND clip his nails which was about as easy as it sounds. He was really cute, I will give him that. But definitely not worth the hassle.

This happened to XH once when we were dating. Someone used his CC to buy a laptop, monitor, accessories from Dell.com.... and shipped it to XH. Not a very smart criminal.

Yesssz, bc those binders/papers go missing, aren’t in the place you’d think, etc etc.

My cousin had a pet hedgehog when I was a teenager. He lived 3.5 hours away from me. Once when I was visiting it peed on me and all my other clothes were dirty so I had to wear dirty clothes home.

It's called a "package mule" scam where they try to intercept the package after it's been ordered. Sometimes it doesn't work and the package gets all the way to the correct address. Other times, they hope to steal the package after delivery.
