Work in the office until 2, then picking up E early from school and heading to the beach. Supposed to be a yucky weekend of rain, but our major plans are painting the bedroom from construction in the fall.
I'm about to buy a pair of rose gold birkenstocks for the spring/summer. I didn't think this day would come, but I can't find a pair of leather flip flops that I like anymore.
FI has been OOT on a work trip since Tuesday, and I am so ready for him to come home tonight. I like being home alone for a bit, but eventually I get really bored and need someone to entertain me. Plus I do actually miss him. . Also, the dishwasher needs to be unloaded and I really don’t want to do it. I know he’ll do it tomorrow morning if I can manage to hold off on it for one more day, lol.
We have no plans this weekend which is awesome because it has been an exhausting week for work and I am drained.

You won’t regret it! I have a pair of rose gold gizehs and I legitimately get compliments on them any time I wear them. Plus they’re insanely comfortable. I became a Birkenstock convert a couple years ago (I used to loathe them and swore I would NEVER own a pair! Well, guess who now owns like 5 pairs…), and there hasn’t been a moment of regret.

Birkenstocks are the best! I live in them for 6-8 months of the year. I'm jealous that you can buy the pretty ones - they never make the more feminine colors available in wide width.

Pretty standard day at work. Looking forward to trying to relax this weekend and attempt to harness my anxiety. DH works mandatory 12 overnight tonight and Saturday night because St. Patrick's Day around here is crazy. It sucks for him but I am kinda looking forward to having most of the evening to myself.
We are in that weird two weeks where the US changed time but Europe and Australia haven't yet. I got ready for an 8 am meeting only to realize the organizer is in the UK. Then I had to scramble to figure out if I'd missed it or if it hadn't happened yet bc my brain can't fully comprehend how time changes work.
jinkies - same issue here! I don't know why time has to be so hard. It's already difficult to schedule meetings for global team members in far away time zones. I hate the 2-3 weeks when time changes just make it worse 😪
In other random news, the brisket is in the oven 🥳 thank you to everyone who helped me get the timing sorted out the other day. I found an aluminum roasting pan that was just big enough so I didn't have to cut it. It hit the heat about 7am. I'm proud of myself lol.
I stacked my hours this week so I can take most of the afternoon off to chef it up in the kitchen 😋

It's "meeting free Friday" and we are leaving for Spring Break to Disneyland tomorrow afternoon. So, I will basically be checking on work and cleaning my house and preparing for our trip.
This is our son's last spring break of high school, so we are excited to go back to Disneyland for the first time since COVID.
There was only ONE day this week when both my kids were at school. Every other day has been either a snow day or someone was home sick. I just want to be alone for five minutes!
It's one of my close friend's 40th in a few weeks and I'm planning on getting her a travel themed gift. So far, I'm planning on getting her the below for her first trip overseas in years. Any additional ideas to add to the gift?
-packing cubes -collapsable tote (the kind you can slip into a side pocket of your suitcase and use as a carry on if you buy too many souveniers) -luggage tags -eye mask -ear plugs -a luggage strap so you can put your backpack on the handle of a suitcase (this: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QBXXGQY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A3CUOD6MZLDL57&psc=1)

Individually wrapped wet ones A walzmart photo zip small (6"?) tote with pictures of you two Smallest, best rated travel umbrella Travel microfiber washcloth if she uses them USB data blocker so she can charge a device using a USB port without worry of undesired data transfer Cell phone power bank Collapsable water bottle? I love my zippered two sided cord case Inflatable plane pillow if she hasn't said she's bringing one

It is the weirdest, most random thing, but every time you post lately I think it's emilyinchile and get confused because her DS is a baby lol I don't know where this association came from because the names aren't similar, neither are the profile pictures. But it's happened multiple times.

I've been WFH for a while while dealing with some medical stuff. Yesterday I legit had nothing to do for work after about 9am. It was both nice and annoying, i prefer being busy.
I finished another knitting project this week - my second ever adult sized sweater. I'm so happy with how it turned out!
I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight. We usually would order lent fish fry but not sure.
Happy Friday everyone! This week has felt long so TGIF finally.
Tomorrow I have to go to a PD event for my adjunct teaching position. Well, I don't HAVE TO but I signed up for it so now I have to. Hopefully it will be helpful/interesting - I do think it will be good to actually set foot on campus (I teach fully remote) and meet some other adjuncts/faculty. I am not sure what I should wear - I am guessing jeans are fine but since it's a PD event, I don't really know? At the moment I'm a little sad that I won't get to sleep in tomorrow.
My neighbors usually host church services in their home on Thursday nights but their house was silent and dark last night so I am hoping they moved on to somewhere else? I hope that whole situation is over, it's so uncomfortable to me. I do not like complaining about neighbors. I don't know why some people have such a hard time being aware of the fact that they live close to other people, though. We've dealt with a lot of noise issues with past rentals and now that we own our place I really had hoped we were done with that. Our walls are thick so we can't hear voices/TV/etc so people really have to almost go out of their way to be loud here.
It's been a week! I was sick (negative for covid), then DS(6) got sick so I haven't left the house except to get the mail all week. I'm going stir crazy. I'm going to pickup some books from the library today though. Thankfully we'll all be well enough for H and I to leave DS with my parents overnight tomorrow and head to Seattle to see our friends. We'll get 24 hours of kid free time!
I volunteered at a PTO event at 7 am and served 36 dozen doughnuts. I thought I’d feel tired, but I feel the most awake and energized I have in awhile. I should take this as a sign to wake up early every day and work out or something, but…I probably won’t.
We turned the toilet and milk green this morning and the kids got a kick out of it but we’re sad we didn’t make leprechaun traps this year. Those things are the bane of my existence.
I should probably think of something creative for dinner but ordering pizza sounds like the better option.
DH finally got home last night, I’m so glad! But I didn’t sleep well. For some reason I woke up every hour and looked at the clock. That was really annoying. I had nothing to get up for, I didn’t eat right before bed, I didn’t drink last night. I just wanted a good night of sleep! I don’t feel like I’ve slept well all week for some reason and it’s really annoying.
We got to school drop off this morning and DS' kindergarten classmates were excitedly sharing what antics the Leprechaun did at their house. DS turned to me and crumpled, devastated that the Leprechaun didn't visit our house. There is a magic leprechaun now? WTF? I can't keep up with this shit. I got them shamrock cookies and green carnations and thought I nailed it.
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

IT IS RIDICULOUS!
I shut it down and was like "they are not real, I am not doing anything."

Last night DS1 was giving me trouble at bedtime because he was scared about the leprechaun. I was PISSED that this narrative is being spread to them at school. I told him we're Ukrainian and the leprechaun doesn't come to us and we have an alarm system and a dog.
DS2 was building traps all around the house last night.
I am already Santa, the Easter Bunny, and magic maker on a million other days. Let me be!!
I put shamrock marshmallows in their lunch and remembered to lay out green clothes. Isn't that enough?

Ugh, I hate this shit. I don’t know when this started, but only my youngest has heard of it (he’s ten, my oldest is 15). I’m mostly of Irish descent and have never heard of this bullshit. The only way St. Patrick’s Day was honored at home growing up was that my mom made corned beef and cabbage. I make bangers and mash if I remember to pick the stuff up and call it a day. I have no idea who came up with this leprechaun nonsense or when, but it’s not an Irish thing at all.
ssmjlm , I was tempted to say it wasn't real but than I'm that parent in front of the other kids. You can't win. I just said the Leprechaun must have known I was taking care of St. Patrick's Day treat at our house.
icedcoffee , unfortunately we are very Irish and he has Irish immigrant grandparents so that angle doesn't work in our house lol. But yes, the goddamn elf on a shelf, tooth fairy, easter bunny, etc, WHEN DOES IT END.
ETA: penguingrrl, oh I know its not an Irish thing. My dad grew up in Ireland and he got us green carnations every St. Patrick's Day and we ate corn beef and cabbage. The end. This is insanity.

I'm working today. DH took the day off. Kids don't have school - the superintendent cancelled classes today so students and teachers could travel to support the girls varsity basketball in the state semifinals. DH is going to take DS and a couple friends to the game, so they'll be gone for most of the day.
Tomorrow is the state Odyssey of the Mind competition for DD and her team. I'm excited they made it on to the state competition, I just hope they do their best and don't have any last-minute problems with their vehicle. I know they will be so disappointed if they don't get to go on to the World Finals (since they made it to that level last year in their first year as a team).
