The indictment could happen tonight. I don’t know that it would be that quick. They heard the final witness today and they could theoretically issue it tonight, but sources are saying more likely Wednesday.

After that, he can either submit voluntarily for fingerprints / mug shots, or he will be taken into custody against his will. Then, he would go before a judge to plead guilty or not guilty and his trial would be set.

I saw a video on Twitter from CNN saying they were apparently leaving the door open for one witness, and that they're on hold for tomorrow possibly. I'm tired of waiting, but also want everything to be done right!

I don't know the specific reason, but when I was on an investigative grand jury in Manhattan we often had last minute cancellations for various reasons, usually administrative/ procedural. Maybe a witness couldn't make it, or the legal team wasn't finished preparing what they had planned for that day, other stuff.  It's likely just a mundane reason.

I’m wondering something - and this is absolutely pure speculation on my part that likely has zero basis in reality (just wishful thinking):

Could the fact that things seem to be ramping up with other possible charges, that they are sitting on this pending other, more serious, indictments? (I have no idea if things work this way.)

ETA - I’ve googled and it seems that more likely it either means a shift in prosecutor strategy based on testimony earlier this week OR that they want an indictment closer to his arraignment.

Heather Cox Richardson had a good write-up last night about how this case is an important campaign finance issue and not some silly thing that Rs are trying to make it out to be. Cheating in elections should be a big deal to everyone.

As much as I want an indictment(s), I'm glad it didn't happen on Tuesday. Any time that his followers see him be totally wrong about something is good, in my opinion. And, I think he's less likely to get a big mob to turn out on a second date when the first one didn't happen.

I agree. And again, just to reiterate, there was no credible reason to expect it on Tuesday.  It all comes from Trump himself who has a pretty significant history of lying, trying to control the narrative, and creating chaos.  It really annoys me how much the media falls for his machinations.

They need to take the time to do it right. I’d rather it be iron-clad when they finally act because this is a case where if they swing and miss it will be far worse.
