I’m making ranch roasted potatoes, a quick recipe I have never made, with cut up red potatoes, olive oil, and ranch dressing mix. I wasn’t paying attention to the recipe, and I put in the entire packet of ranch dressing mix. Apparently I was only supposed to use 2 teaspoons! Some people did suggest doubling that. The packet is 9 teaspoons. do you think it’s fine as is? Or should I like rinse off half the potatoes, put in a little new olive oil, and shake them in a new bag to redistribute the dressing?
I rinsed and also added a little more potato. Honestly, didn’t seem like all that much, which is why I was hesitating, but I suppose it might be incredibly salty, or something like that. I’ll let you all know how it turns out!
This is what I would do. We love roasted potatoes and rarely have leftovers, so making more is my recommendation too
Yep - even if it ends up being a mix of red and regular potatoes, I’d totally eat these as leftovers!
Truth! I actually made roasted potatoes for dinner tonight with white, yellow, red, and purple potatoes because I had a bunch of half bags. We still ate them all LOL

I wish my H and DS liked roasted potatoes! I love roasted potatoes but hardly ever make them because I'm the only one who actually likes them.
Result: they were really good, and we all enjoyed them, but they actually tasted… Underseasoned! Lol. I know I used more potatoes than the recipe had said, but I would definitely use way more than 2 teaspoons of ranch seasoning next time on purpose. Maybe go with the 4 teaspoons like someone suggested. I think I overdid the rinsing, because I chose all the potatoes that looked like they had the most seasoning on them to rinse off, and I probably ended up removing too much. 🤷🏼♀️
I use this mix of seasonings on halved mini red potatoes and my kids, who hate potatoes in any form other than french fries, love them and ask for them all the time.
I would also like to share my roasted potatoes short cut. I take my potatoes (using the bite sized variety)and poke them with a fork a few times and then spread them on a plate in a single layer. Microwave until tender (3-5 minutes). Then slice in half and toss with oil and seasonings. Roast in a single layer for 20 minutes. Microwaving them first cuts the cooking time in half.
I was going to say that I often make these with a whole seasoning packet (also great in the air fryer). I feel like the olive oil washes a lot of it off
