Has anyone else watched it? I did not know about or remember much about what happened between the bombing and the eventual capture of one of the suspects in the boat in someone's backyard. It's 3 parts and has tons of interviews and video.
I'm not sure I could watch it, a little too close to home. But my friend lived in the neighborhood where he was eventually caught and was on lockdown for several hours. I was texting with her the whole time, she was so freaked out. I'll never forget it. I actually skipped a bridal shower because of it (which I still feel guilty about, it was H's friend not mine), but I didn't want to leave my friend alone.
I haven't watched it yet, but it is on my list to watch. I assume the first part is the actual bombing? I might skip that portion.
Yes first episode covers that. That show is really more about the manhunt than the bombing itself so while they interview one victim that survived the bombing they pretty quickly move to the steps they took combing video and pictures to find the suspects and then how the pictures of the suspects ended up being released (there was a leak which forced their hand). You could probably start halfway through the first episode and miss most of the bombing stuff.
Second episode and third episode are about the manhunt itself and a bit about the bombers and how they were radicalized. And a lot of moments where I'm sitting here agape that nobody else was killed or injured in some of these shootouts and car jackings.
I very vividly remember the day of the bombing and the night they finally captured the suspects but all the in between I remembered almost nothing. I like the perspective of the journalists they have in the documentary.

I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning but I remember our conversations on this board around that time regarding the legalities of the lockdown in the area. I will probably watch this.

Same. It actually came up in my FB memories today about being forced by my (then) boss to come into the office during the manhunt, despite the shelter in place order. I did and it was one of the scariest days of my life being downtown with swarms of armed swat teams everywhere and helicopters buzzing by my office window.

At the time, we lived fairly close (4 miles away) to where he was caught, so my memories of that week are pretty vivid. I probably will watch this, but I’m sure it will be raw.

Same to all of this. My bffs building was surrounded by swat the entire day/night. Her neighbor ran out of formula and the police needed to bring it in for her.
My H left boston on marathon Monday and flew home on that Friday, what a week to travel in and out of Boston.
I remember Andy Williams' coverage so visibly. He was my favorite newsman and I watched his coverage non-stop.

Yes, I watched. It was really well done I thought. I’m a local so I knew and remembered a lot, but there were a lot of new details and footage. It was such an emotional watch for me, I cried a lot, but it was worth it.

That day hit close to home for me too because my mom was volunteering at the marathon. I was in the middle of TAing a class when the news broke and I remember stepping out into the hallway to try to collect myself, and that it was awhile before I could get through to her because cell towers in the area were overloaded.

God, your old job was the worst! I’m glad you got out of there. I also can’t watch this because it’s too close to home. We were about a mile away from the neighborhood where he was found and spent a very scary, surreal day in lockdown. I still get a pit in my stomach thinking about that day (and week). Co-workers/friends lived in that neighborhood and had police searching their houses, and one lived on the block where the firefight broke out. They actually found him on a street I’d lived on a few years before. I’m glad the story is being told, and hopefully well, but I can’t imagine myself sitting down and watching this.

We had just moved from Watertown 9 months earlier, so watching the coverage that day and night was so surreal. Like “you’re across the street from my Target!” I was trying to imagine what ir would have been like if we were still there. So much happened overnight after the bombing that I stayed up all night to watch. The next day was pretty quiet though until they finally found him in the boat Friday evening. The documentary is on my list to watch.
I watched it - DH worked a block from the finish line and I still remember him texting me that he just heard/felt two explosions and me at home waiting for the TV news to catch up to figure out what was going on (pre Twitter days…). I had just come back in from watching/cheering on the runners at mile 23.
The documentary was fairly good. There were a few things I didn’t know like the debate over releasing their photos. It was hard to watch though.
I'm going to put this on the watch list. I'm not local, but the thing I remember from the manhunt was how unreliable the news was. It seemed like all the big cable networks were repeating rumors that they would rescind after a few minutes. MH and I ended up turning off the TV and just listening to NPR which was covering the situation live and reporting responsibly.
I know I will watch this eventually, but it will be hard. I work in Boston and live in the suburbs. Marathon Monday we were sitting at work and a co-worker’s phone rang and it was her college aged daughter calling probably 30 seconds after it happened. She was at the finish line, but not directly near the bombs. I just remember her grabbing her purse, running towards the elevator and telling her daughter on the phone to run as fast as she could away from the explosions. It took minutes for us to know what was going on. We all left work because we honestly felt like Boston was under a terror attack. Trains were delayed and there was a fire at a train station (randomly unrelated, but we didn’t know at the time) and I almost got off and started walking, but my train ride is like 25 miles.
I haven’t been to the marathon again since, and I went multiple times to cheer on friends.I am hoping to get back soon.

I hadn't known that either. I inevitably cried watching it, as I do watching anything about that day. One of the craziest things to me, which they touched on at the end of this final episode, is that the Tsarnaevs (or at least the older one) had committed that triple homicide in Waltham 2 years earlier and weren't caught. If the police hadn't just kind of shrugged that off as a drug deal gone bad, maybe 4/15/13 wouldn't have happened.
Yes, of course I remember! I remember someone posting the police scanner link and us all listening in! I do remember watching some other show about it so now my memory is all jumbled between what I remember reading, and sort of witnessing live through different channels, and then also what I’ve watched after the fact. Pretty cool to see this as well. Interesting to hear people talk about it who are now much more grown-up, and can look back.

FBI true season 2 started with 2 episodes on this. I'm sure that has created my memory and timeline now.
