Am I supposed to recognize a lot of these people? I'm terrible with celebrity recognition generally, but there were tons of names I didn't know. And when I did know, I had a hard time recognizing even familiar faces
I think a guy known for a lot of black and white and tweed plaid makes it challenging to have seriously eye-catching looks. There were definitely standouts, but it's not like it lends itself to Billy Porter in an Egyptian god costume.

This year was so dull. Everything is black, white, or neutrals. Barely a headpiece. When the most interesting thing is a cockroach on the carpet you have failed.
Also wtf is Billy Nighy doing dating Anna Wintour?!
Karl Lagerfeld being the theme really illustrates that “progress” in this industry is an illusion. He was an awful, racist, fatphobic, and misogynistic man and we all know it. None this this happened in the distant past. He died back in 2019 so even the timing seems off. Why now?
I did see speculation that the reason so many people wore pink was that he famously said it was a color people shouldn’t wear but not attending seems like a better way to protest the theme.

Agree that Karl Lagerfeld was a terrible theme, partly because of the drab colors but primarily because he was an asshole. Maintenance Phase did a great episode on his fatphobia.

in such a fatphobic industry to what degree is he worse?
what a boring pile of clothing. I mean...some of it is interesting in that very fashiony way that suits the theme, but boring in aggregate.
A random assortment of the looks I had stuff to say about:
I wanted Lizzo to wear something more fuck you. oh well. she looks nice.
I like kristen stewart's eyebrows-
The collar on this is a cool interpretation of the theme while still being very drama, glam, femme.
@@@@@@
Serena Williams cute @ stuff, and she's working this dress for all it's worth....but I think her stylist did her dirty. this look is a no for me. the pearls and the sparklies and the neckline are all competing and the puffy black sleeves with puffy white bottom skirt...eh. makes me sad.

Thank you. Truly vile. I really only knew him for the androgyny which I really appreciated. But this is beyond the pale. And, I'm guessing, not uncommon. But uncommon enough that others speak out, so, he must be considered extreme in even an extreme world.

I didn't know that, especially about the pink (I admittedly know very little about Lagerfeld), but I LOVE the bright pink Viola Davis wore. She often opts for bright colors and looks amazing in all of them.

I’m not sure how true it is but it’s fun to speculate! I agree Viola Davis had a great outfit! Very dramatic and fun.
