This makes me so sad. Everwood is one of my favorite all-time shows and he just seemed like a great guy in general.

HOW DID I KNOW KNOW THAT WAS HIM?! I've watched this countless times. I also had the cd of the broadway and movie casts

He just kept showing up in affable roles that were often secondary, but oh so enjoyable.

ETA Seriously on any given day, something from Hair is my earworm. I just have to make sure not to sing some aloud without context!

Treat Williams was amazing.

I have not listened to the sound track in a while.  I have it on today.  Hair songs used to be my earworm too.  Good Morning Starshine, Manchester, Flesh Failures,  I Got Life, Somebody to Love, Air.  I could list them all.  So many great ones.  And yes, cannot sing Sodomy while bopping around the grocery store.

I think that might be a difference between the Broadway and movie versions. Elevator going down is another one.

The song about black pride that is basically just a lists of slurs, definitely not one to sing aloud! I'd rather sing about sodomy and fellatio!

Oh,sorry, I missed it was a recent local, not the cds. Also, it's prisoners, not Christmas. 3-5-0-0 is such a powerful song I'd hate to think they removed it.

And in googling lyrics to check my memory b/c I knew what song you meant but remembered it apparently correctly (this is in contrast to many lyrics i got wrong for years, and rewatching last night with subtitles corrected, so I assumed it was me), many of the lyrics, including that line, come right from ginsberg.

basilosaurus , yeah, I had to put in the CD to make sure I was remembering the right town. And then I heard that slur song you mentioned and I cringed. Then I skipped to Manchester England England, across the Atlantic sea.

And yes, powerful song. And hearing it again, it may be possible to just sub in another ____town, though. But, I also realize I’m just a white girl thinking about this.

I think this gets to why our discomfort would try to change the words of a black poet. I think what he said was really relevant and should not be cleaned up. It was not with malice. It was worth pupper. We should all be shocked and want to censor because it was a very uncomfortable truth.

Again, something for another thread. But I'm here and had this to say.
