BtB listeners (and if you aren't you should be) they covered these omg middle aged white women are being trafficked from target TikTok stories. It goes into the history of chain letters going back to ancient Egypt. Fascinating.
I'm sure it will work up to this story, but only the first ep has dropped. It covered a few things mentioned in this thread so far
The police are being really careful with what they've released so far. Just basic facts: No video evidence to support/disprove what happened. No other eyewitness accounts. No other calls about the child. The one thing they've released that gave me pause is that the food she bought from Target was missing from the car, but everything else was left.

I'm listening to it right now and it's excellent.
For those that aren't already listeners, BtB is the podcast Behind the Bastards. 😉

I'm in the middle of listening to this episode too! The case that sparked this is still enraging to me.

sigh... It's pretty clear that she faked the whole thing. The police got the Feds involved and her search history is pretty damning. She also took items from her work the day she disappeared that indicate that she was planning to be out of her house for a while. Those items and the food from Target were gone from the car. She also drove for a while when making the 911 call (tracked by her life360 ap - from the start of the call she drove about 600 yards).
ETA: Again, the police are being pretty careful to just disclose the facts as they know it.

I hadn't been following this case (outside of this thread) until I watched the press conference this afternoon. It seems pretty evident. Finally, the case of a missing Black woman was being taken seriously and this is where it leads. Ugh.
