White dudes bold as brass assaulting the guy just trying to do his job in front of two full boats of witnesses. I'm glad they all got their asses handed to them.
whelp. As somebody who sometimes ties a boat up in places...I really want to know how the heck they ended up tied up there in the first place. Like...they've got their canvas cover on and everything. that takes a minute. they didn't come up, tie and jaunt off before somebody could say something to them. I think the kid(? young and ineffective looking adult?) standing there all namby pamby in the life vest is probaly the dock minder and I have to wonder what his role in all this is. Did he tell them not to dock there? were they supposed to just be there for a minute and didn't come back in time?? Not that there's any universe in which these punch throwing asswagons (JUST MOVE YOUR FUCKING BOAT!!!) are in the right, but I'm nosy and want to know the details of how we got here in the first place. Like, even if you think you were allowed to dock there and are embarassed to be told otherwise - just leave the rest of your party on land, hop in, cast off, and putt putt out into the river out of the way and then figure out where to tie up again afterward, THERE'S AN ENTIRE RIVERBOAT STARING AT YOU. MOVE.
It looks like this dock allows for private boats to tie up, but not in the river boat's space. I can't read the signs here, but I'd bet 100000000 internet dollars that they say something along the lines of "RESERVED - no dockage between these signs"
wawa - sorry to use TikTok as a source, but I just watched a video on the minutes BEFORE the fight happened (it stops before anyone gets hit) and you can't hear what they're saying, but you can tell the guard is telling them over and over, multiple people, to move. It's the latest video (for now) by @hyperbruva
This one has the very beginning - boat was tied up, boat worker untied it to move it, drunk white people arrive and he has to tell them several times to move the damn boat, one guy decides to hit the worker and it's on. newsone.com/4665686/videos-montgomery-riverfront-park-brawl-all-angles/
I have spent waaay to much time on tiktok on this topic this AM.
I am nervous what the fallout is going to be for the black folks. I have no doubt these assholes are going to be on Fox news soon spinning their white tears story.
now that I think i've seen every single video (why though???)
I always have a few thoughts when watching brawls like that. 1 - I have historically been more of a fight than flight girl when tested. however...no fucking way. I'm out. 2 - there's always surprisingly few actual punches. lots more stiff arms, scratchy flailing, eye gouging, throat grabbing, messy wrestling. I know that's how it goes, but it still is always a surprise. 3 Kicking is terrifying. For both sides of this, everytime a group started kicking somebody on the ground I had to look away. That's serious shit.

I was stunned at the use of chairs as weapons--really vintage WWF movies.
The fact that the pontoon boys were drunk as fuck adds to the absurdity of the whole thing. Like, WTF were they doing out on the water so drunk. I just cannot get over their stupidity over the whole thing--parking where they weren't supposed to be, attacking that guy, being drunk, being racist, escalating everything.

I think the chair guy was out of fucking line honestly, even in all that chaos, he crossed what little line there was. Like...I could see a "don't start none..." for the young guys who came over from the riverboat and started things back up after the boat docked. But that dude got confused and thought he was playing whackamole or something and smashed a folding chair into the head of a woman who was ALREADY DOWN from behind.
In the middle of all that very much a lot happening, it stood out as extra violent and fucked. The people taking the video agreed since the commentary tone went from gleeful "beat their ass" to "oh! oh my god! he going to jail" when that happened.
YOU OWN A STORE IN SELMA BUT THINK YOU CAN BE RACIST ON VIDEO? AND STILL KEEP YOUR BUSINESS, SIR?? LOFL FOR EVER.
The idiot was also lying about his involvement in the fight - saying he left because it was wrong, yet video showed that he was smack dab in the middle fighting!

there is video evidence you dumbass!
And not just a little video evidence, multiple angles were caught.
I think my favorite moment is when the whole boat that's trying to dock starts singing, "MOVE bitch, get out the way; get out the way, bitch; get out the way!"
I don’t know what this says about me, but I’m ok with the chair Use and I don’t condone violence usually and it makes me nauseous.
Their group took on a man 4:1. The injuries he could have sustained are not ones I want to think about. If you are hanging out there in the midst of the chaos, and maybe took part in it, you might end up on the receiving end of a chair.
I also have zero sympathy for drunk dumbasses. Especially racist ones.
And I do have to chuckle at the comment upthread asking how these guys thought it was ok to get drunk on a boat and do this. It’s pretty standard frat boy I own a boat boat behavior.

When I saw the video of the beginning I could not believe how long the dock worker had to talk to these people about their boat parking. It would have taken me 10 seconds to turn beet red, and just start apologizing on a loop and feel like a huge idiot for doing something dumb in front of an entire boat of people.
Dude just move your boat! WTF is there to argue about?!

I think that they definitely had a lot of shit coming to them. I'm not gonna judge drawing the line in a different place than I did.
And also ditto the lololol that people aren't out and about drunk on boats every sunny weekend day of the summer. I have a lot of stories.

I’m here. That women willingly entered the fight (by attacking others, not trying to stop things) and was violent herself. If she got up, who’s to say what she would have done next. Every single white woman on that boat joined in the fighting and their gender shouldn’t protect them. I have no doubt they will try and weaponize their tears though in the coming days.

Yeah, for me the line, had more to do with her being on her ass after being kicked repeatedly and the fact that he came at her from behind. But I know most people will be more bothered by the fact that she's female so...they can suck it. And it's not like any of this was fucking by the book boxing match so...I dunno. My grip on my pearls isn't too tight. It just stood out and made me go from chaotic cackling to "oh my god!"
In other news...my late night TikTok scrolling was hilarious thanks to this. The what chair are you filter. The "top 5 moments" lists. The reenactments. The REENACTMENTS.

I cackled. It reminds me of the people that set up lawn chairs at the boat ramp and drink all afternoon while heckling some of the antics of the drunk returning boaters. I needed that levity in what's otherwise nasty
