My DD and I go to the same dentist. I have never been given sunglasses, whereas DD has always been given them. I always assumed the difference was a kid thing, but I guess it could be because I wear glasses and wouldn’t be able to see anything wearing their non-prescription sunglasses (not that I need to really see anything while getting my teeth cleaned, but it would still be weird for me to not have my own glasses on).

This is so interesting! I was like WTF, why are you wearing sunglasses and it turns out my experience is the weird one. ETA - I do wear prescription glasses, though. I’m going to ask my husband if he and the boys get sunglasses.
Yes! This is a relatively new thing for me, though, I don't think I was offered them regularly until my latest practice (started going there 7 years ago when we moved). I remember watching my kids getting sunglasses as little kids and thinking wow, great idea.
I mean, seriously. Why didn't somebody make this a common practice a long time ago, it's so simple but it makes a big difference in how comfortable the experience is! Like, thank you for not searing my eyeballs.

Never for a cleaning in my 38 years. I think MAYBE when I had oral surgery (gum graft) I had the glasses but I was on some kind of pill so I'm sure I'm not remembering accurately lol.

My family dentist has us all wear sunglasses.
I have offered to keep my glasses on but they prefer the sunglasses. I feel bad for D3 because she can not see without her glasses but she doesn’t mind.
My dentist does do plain sunglasses but tinted safety glasses. It’s a fairly new thing for them. Maybe it started with covid but I think it’s even more recent than that.
We’ve gone to the same dentist for 10+ years and at some point in the last few years they started offering sunglasses. I wear prescription glasses and wouldn’t go without them, but I’ve started to switch to my own prescription sunglasses. It’s far more pleasant blocking the bright light overhead.

My dentist does not, kids’ dentist does. I do wear glasses and contacts and have always been asked to remove my glasses for cleanings so it’s interesting to me that some of you get to keep yours on!
