Question: Have your kids ever gotten a project the first part of school and it not be due until June? Last night DD's math/science teacher stated that she had no nightly homework but she did larger projects as homework. They would get the biggest project next week but don't worry it isn't due until June.
My brain can't handle projects like that. I asked DD what she thought of that and she said I will do the whole thing before the end of the first month of school so I don't have to worry about. I'm thinking most of our kiddos would have problems with this too.
We do one in 8th grade. It’s structured and scaffolded along the way — with any luck, yours is too.
You couldn’t do ours all at once — it wouldn’t be possible.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
186momx, my kids have not gotten full year projects, but they have gotten semester-long projects with outlines and deadlines along the way.
Even with those guideposts, I had to create daily schedules for my kids to follow so that they weren't doing the entire project the night before. DD2 loves that guidance. DD1 wants very much for me to pound sand and to do the entire project the night before, screaming and crying and carrying on the whole time while I struggle to muster up any sort of sympathy.
