Fox News' Peter Dooley asked Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden's plan to restrict Americans' drinking to two drinks per week. Where do they even come up with this garbage?
I love that they can’t even stop to think through the basics - how would he enforce that? Are the liquor stores going to sell an max of 2 drinks per person per week? How will they know if someone has visited multiple stores? What about restaurants? Also, alcohol is a huge portion of the economy! Why would he want to regulate a sector so heavily that it would put thousands of people out of work? Just use a couple brain cells and anyone can see that this is not going to happen.
If they truly wanted to do something to discourage people from drinking as much, use the Canadian model of increasing taxes on liquor. (Although I wouldn’t say it’s actually made many people cut back, I think most just whine about the price increase and keep drinking.)

Never mind how deeply unpopular this would be. Prohibition didn't exactly work in the government's favor the first time they tried it.
This might backfire on them since many evangelicals* do not drink and are very vocal about it being unholy and devil things.
*speaking from my experience with my IL’s who are super evangelical and send us (H & I) commentary on every greeting card about alcohol
Yeah, I strongly suspect the vast majority of any people who believe there should be policies controlling alcohol consumption for adults are...not Democrats.

I remember the comments when our state was considering allowing alcohol sales on Sunday!!!!!!!! You could always get drinks at a bar/restaurant that served food but couldn’t carry liquor out or buy any at a grocery store/liquor store. You’d think the whole state was going to be drunk all Sunday long for allowing Sunday alcohol sales.
Spoiler- it’s fine and we can buy it only from noon - 8 pm on Sundays.
Thanks for posting this. Now I know that Kid Rock was just photographed drinking a Bud Light. It’s been ~4 months since he shot up a case of Bud Light with an AR-15.

To the “where do they come up with it?” It sounds like a deliberate misinterpretation of potential new GUIDELINES from the USDA on recommended alcohol intake.

Agreed. I saw something about this while scrolling through FB or something and just assumed it was a medical recommendation or a guideline for signs of potential alcoholism. I already don’t “pass” the binge drinking guideline so don’t really care about this one either!

Hello sir, my dog Fido is buying this liquor, not me…oh ..you don’t want to take my money because I came in 4 days ago?

Yep, exactly; apparently he cited the guidelines in Canada as the blueprint. But he’s obviously being deliberately obtuse in how he asked the question.
It’s a shame he’s obfuscating the issue because updated public health guidelines around alcohol are probably way overdue.

Pennsylvania has bizarre and regressive liquor taxes, and that has never stopped Philadelphians!
Fox doing everything to fire up the outrage machine to swing the focus right round from the not so masterful criminals in the GOP. This shit is truly laughable but “the base” laps it up.
