mustardseed2007 , I don't think you're being terrible. He made a commitment, and you're encouraging him to follow through with it. Tech week is a big deal in theater - there's usually no choice about attending. We often have conflicts with scheduling, and we talk about expectations as we're getting going each season. Academics come first, as to school teams since they're required. Then club, then rec. If there's something special at school that conflicts with a practice or game, we discuss it at the time.
DD2 had to take drama this term as her art. She was DREADING it - she had no interest in it AT ALL. Well, she LOVES it. The class is doing a play at the end of November - everyone gets parts, and they don't have to memorize lines. It's just to get them used to being up in front of people and speaking. DD2 mentioned it, didn't make a big deal about it at all. We just had a conference with her drama teacher, and she told me that DD2 has the lead part. And not only did she have the lead, that she FOUGHT for it and really nailed it.
LOL wut?
I am shocked. She's very shy around most adults and even takes time to warm up to kids she doesn't know. This was a huge surprise! I'm so excited for her!

mae0111, that's awesome. Theater is so character building! Both because of the pay off when you try hard and also character building in knowing sometimes you try hard and it doesn't pay off but it's outside your control. But it's more fun when they have success!!
DD2 finished up her MS gymnastics season with their conference meet. New PRS in vault and floor. Bars was NOT her friend last night. It was a great season and a great experience. SOOO much better than club. Like, times a million.
DD1 and DD3 have another swim meet tomorrow. DD1 is going to "suit up", hopefully it's a fast one for her.
DS's team FINALLY won a game. I really don't understand the game schedule - we've played one team 3 times now, but there are others we haven't even played once. The first time we played this team, we lost by infinity. The second time we played, we tied (our first time not losing). The third time, we won 3-0... but it was also a fall break game, and we had 3 subs, and their team only had 1. Most teams generally have 6ish subs at a time depending on attendance.
DD's coach texted and said they're going to start working on her axle. She's got the legs for jumps, but also the grace of a bull, which is very... interesting to watch.
