I cannot believe I am even considering this; I'm not a concert fan but I am a HUGE broadway musical fan. My choice in pandora stations is Showstoppers Radio and I have always loved musicals and listening to that type of music. Turns out I've passed this along to my dd. We're pretty much obsessed. We recently found out our #1 Broadway "crush" Derek Klena is performing at Carnegie Hall this Friday night with 3 other broadway stars. This is probably a once in a lifetime chance, to see him (and other broadway stars) sing our fav genre of music in Carnegie Hall. But I'm not sure if this will be an amazing experience?? Is Carnegie Hall jawdropping? idkkkk This would be a big/whirlwind trip. It would be her birthday and Christmas gift and she's begging me to go. We live a 4 hour (!!!!) flight away; not close but tix are super cheap and the flights are nonstop. I have points to cover our hotel. We would be in the city less than 24 hours bc my younger dd has a championship game that we have to be back for Saturday afternoon. We'd land at 11am and be on an 8am fight the next day. :/ Can't miss this game. :/ This is something we would love to do. This weekend is not ideal but we could go. How do I find out about other concerts like this? I'm following all the broadway related instas which is how I found out about this one. I'm 90% sure we won't go.... it's crazy. But we could and I would really love to.

I’ve done plenty of spontaneous things. This sounds like fun assuming your daughter is up for the adventure and won’t whine/be tired. Have a great time.
The only things would be the chance of delayed flights but that’s less likely to happen so I wouldn’t let that stop me.
ETA: are you able to come tomorrow to give a bit more time?

Not really. We could but it would be a challenge. We come to the city 1-2x year (we are very lucky!!!) NYC is her fav place in the world; she's almost 15 and can hang longer than me

I have never been to a concert at Carnegie Hall, which I know was the original question, but...
I did once buy tickets on a whim to see Leslie Odom in concert with my sister on a Sunday in August. It was absurdly hot that day, and during our walk to the theater, my sister passed out and fell on a busy street, thankfully coming to only a few moments later. (This was downtown Philly, so it wasn't the BEST place to pass out). After some water and sitting on the sidewalk together, we kept walking and eventually made it to the theater.
Did I mention we were both really pregnant? Because we were. One pregnant lady catching the other on the street. It was a sight.
We talk about that concert all the time, even though it was nearly five years ago; it was beyond special for us to share that concert together. I'd catch her ass in the street all over again, sweating my tits off, to hear him sing with her.

Ok Great, well then I say go for it. The weather looks lovely for this weekend and finally won’t be raining.

This doesn’t really feel like it’s about Carnegie hall? It sounds like an amazing experience and you said once in a lifetime. If it’s something you can afford and both really want then why not? Carnegie hall is pretty and historic but the venue doesn’t seem to matter in this case.
I did a spontaneous trip like that to Chicago with my DS1 when he was 6 to see Hamilton. He is 12 and still talks about how amazing the trip was. He still remembers and talks about our Uber driver and all sorts of random things about that trip. Core memory for sure. You won’t regret it.

Do it! We spent a couple days in NYC this summer because it was cheaper to buy separate tickets from west coast to NYC + NYC to Europe than direct and I didn’t want a tight layover with separate flight bookings. Our favorite baseball team happened to be playing the Mets so our only scheduled activity was the game. It was a whirlwind but we had an amazing time wandering around manhattan and Central Park, and ate great food. I’d absolutely fly there for a concert or show for a couple days.
I was born a jaded, perpetually underwhelmed New Yorker. And Carnegie Hall is amazing. The last 2 gifts we've bought for our son were tickets to see shows he was dying to see. We didn't have to fly, but the last one involved a hotel stay. We were all so happy we did it. Go for it!!

I’ll add, there’s always risk of a flight delay but I’d just make sure you are on a decent airline with lots of flight options back home, not a budget airline like Spirit known for canceled flights.

Definitely go. Some of the upper tier seats can be a little tight but the acoustics are so freaking amazing. If you love this performer, you will love them more at Carnegie Hall.

Definitely do it, it sounds amazing! Carnegie Hall is truly special, you won’t regret it. Last time I was there H was performing there with his college choir and it was truly amazing.

Thanks all. Not making this decision any easier. I have two daughters and my older dd and I are super similar; our interests are the exact same and we share a love of cities and Broadway. We actually went on a girls' trip to NYC over Labor Day weekend. So while this would be so amazing; we do travel together often. My younger dd (sweetest child on the planet) is not as fond of traveling and just wants to be surrounded by her friends. So she often *chooses* to stay back and wouldn't actually want to go on this trip; and she has said she doesn't mind if we go (she already has some fun plans Friday night so she's totally taken care of) but she doesn't want us to miss her championship game. We are scheduled to land (on a major carrier) 30 minutes prior to the start. We'd get there right as it starts and it's actually the quarterfinals; they should make the finals so there should be a second game later in the afternoon (I'd be shocked if there wasn't) So I'm so incredibly torn. This sounds like an amazing experience and you guys have sold me on Carnegie Hall (ha!) but I want to respect my younger daughter as well. Ahhhhhh!! I'm going to sleep on this.
BTW- is the Carnegie Hall website the only place to get tickets? I'm not a seasoned concert goer/ticket buyer but if we decide to go and I can find better seats I'd be willing to try. It's in 2 days
Walking in "just as the game begins" sounds more like "walking in just after it ends." It can take half an hour after landing just to get out of the airport so often (taxi to the gate, deplane, walk to curb, etc.) and then parking on the other end is likely to be crowded with the championship game. And that's If everything runs on time.

I was a “yes, go!” until this. I don’t see any way that you’ll get from a plane to a game in 30 minutes. Unless the game is being held at the airport, lol, but honestly maybe not even then. Your flight can’t be even one minute late, and that’s so unrealistic these days.
Definitely go. Some of the upper tier seats can be a little tight but the acoustics are so freaking amazing. If you love this performer, you will love them more at Carnegie Hall.
I'm looking at balcony row B.
I'm not at all familiar with using stub hub but those are the "recommended" tickets. Says 8.5 BEST. They're only $55 ea. The other tix are $150+ ea. If we're going to go, I want to do it right. But always happy to save a couple hundred bucks. Hmmm.
Little sis gave us the go ahead. As long as the flight is on time, we'll just miss maybe 10-20 minutes of the first game. Eeek!
