If I made peanut butter cookie dough last sunday, and it was sealed and in the fridge, can I use the dough today to make cookies? Or do I have to toss it and make new dough?
Absolutely use it. The only thing in cookie dough that would eventually go bad in the fridge is egg and I’m quite sure your eggs are fine less than a week later.
I am watching Christmas movies and putting together our annual photo album. Ugh, I love when the photo book is finished but it’s so hard to get through a year’s worth of family pics. Bah Humbug.

sproctopus what did you think about Lille, outside of the Christmas markets. Is it a good place to potentially stay as a home base to take trains to other places? What about to visit for a day?
We are taking the kids to Europe this spring and trying to figure out where to stay and what to see. DS is autistic and can get overwhelmed so our goal is to stay somewhere smaller/walkable to the train and take trains which will be relaxing for him. We just want to see cute medium/small towns as bigger cities will be overwhelming.

Lille is really beautiful. We did just a day trip there and like so many places in Europe, it's very walkable and transport is easy. Gare Lille Flandres is well-sized, but I don't think I would use Lille as a home-base, but thats mostly because there aren't as many places near here that I would like to go, lol. I will also say it's been harder for me here bc I have just 2 years of high school French, lol. But smaller towns in general (with less tourists) tend to lean heavier on the local languages. But still very easy to navigate even with no sense of the language. I will say an adorable artist was trying to explain in English to me how to use her DIY macrame kits I was buying and she was saying "chop chop" for cut and "fuzzy" for fluff and I wanted to bottle her right up. The people are so kind!
I would HIGHLY recommend Colmar and Basel. The Alsace region is gorgeous, small and charming.
PastrywithJenn (on IG) is doing a trip right now through Gertwiller, Strasbourg, Colmar, etc. if you want to see that region!

Not who you asked but we were in Lille almost a week. It was fun but very spread out. There was not much near the train station itself and a lot of landmarks/museums were in outer Lille (they’d be listed as Lille but be basically in the suburbs outside the city) and required us taking the subway. It was easy to get around but even with all that time in the city we didn’t get to see everything on our not very long list between the travel and most things being closed Sunday and Monday.
Most people did not speak English or at least not very well but we speak French so it wasn’t a huge deal. It was an artsy, friendly city!
I think you could do an easy day there and just see the downtown/city area if that’s what you’d want. If we were going to do it again, I’d stay in Brussels and travel to Lille and other cities from there. I would not use Lille as a home base
I got a refund for an extended warranty on a car I traded in and it’s three times more than I was hoping for. Merry Christmas to me! It couldn’t have come at a better time.
Santa comes through my neighborhood on the fire truck tonight. My sisters and neighbors are coming over with their kids and everyone is wearing pj’s. It’s one of my favorite Christmas traditions. ❤️
We did this Thursday with my neighbor! It was fun!
I know I’ll end up on some lists for this, but I am baffled by all of the love for the Pogues’ Fairytale of New York as a sweet Christmas song.
I mean, it is a great song, but it is not heartwarming, or sweet, or most of the other adjectives that I’ve read to describe it. The lyrics describe love turning sour and people who were once full of dreams eventually being horrible to each other and broken down themselves. I find it very sad.
Christmas markets are really not very fun. That's been a huge bummer.
My sister somehow let herself get talked into buying 4 pounds of halva. She thought it would make a great present for a gift exchange that has a $30 limit and she spent over 100€. She definitely pulled a wildrice 😂
Paris is the only place we have left and I hope I love it because Bruge and Lille were not the vibe.
Using different currencies is hard! Especially on the spot 😆

Ever since I had my c/s, the spot where they injected the shot to prevent thrombosis on my thigh hurts so much. I have no idea why. I see no physical reason for it so it must have bruised or something where she did it? It’s been almost 3 months. I got shots in the thigh on both legs and it’s only the left one that hurts. It almost feels like nerve pain? I keep thinking it’ll go away. It also hurts when my kids hit it and they hit it all. The. Time.

That’s so disappointing! The ones I’ve gone to have all been like your expectation but I’ve only done German and Dutch ones. I usually buy all my little presents for the teachers from there and we have a little village we are building from buying cute old hand painted houses in Germany. But yes I do agree thwt they can get wayyyy overcrowded.

I took my daughter to music class cause my partner was out of town. There was a mom there with a child a little older than my 13 month old. During the 45 min class she breast fed 3 times. I’m not judging the breastfeeding at all as I openly feed in public but it made me so thankful that my daughter isn’t like that constantly wanting to be at my boob. Poor mom! (Well I Hope she enjoys it). That is serious dedication at that age. Currently my daughter breastfeeds 4-5 times a day on the weekends when we’re home and most of the time she’s not begging for it. I’m going to continue to breastfeed and pump through the winter then will prob stop in the spring so I’m thinking weaning might not be too bad.

Also not who you asked but I've been to Lille as well. We were there about 9 days over Christmas break a few years ago because my friend who lives there let us use her apartment while she was travelling. I second what others have said - it's nice enough but honestly the perk for us was the free accommodation.
I used to live in Strasbourg and 💯 recommend that city. It's very walkable and well connected to Paris plus nearby cities in Germany and Switzerland. They have an easy to navigate tram system that will take you throughout the city if you get tired and also to the gare. Alsace is full of lovely villages too.
Is there a "what do you want for the holidays" thread? Search is failing me and I'm feeling Scroogey and Grinchy this year and I need to browse other people's ideas.

I went to a holiday party last night and it reinforced my hatred of people and my grinchiness this year…so there’s that.
What is the protocol when people don’t pick up stuff you sell on marketplace? I have a set of clothes I sold that I had a ton of messages on. On Thursday late afternoon the person messaged me when can I pick it up and I responded that I’d put it out and it was covered so come get anytime convenient. I had other stuff I was selling/giving away so I sent another note Friday that it had their name on it. No pick up Friday or Saturday. Do I send a note that if it isn’t picked up today I would move on to the next. I want it out of my house, but I feel weird since they have my address.
I skipped my work holiday party last night. It was snowing and the host lives out in the boondocks. Also, my two coworkers who also don't drink weren't going and I had no desire to be the only sober person at a party that everyone else is drunk at. I've been at those parties before and I don't find them enjoyable. (I was told by my non drinking coworkers that that's how these parties go.)
DD is refusing to eat breakfast and having a complete emotional breakdown. For the love of God, she needs to figure out that these things are connected.

When my kids (and myself) get like this, a smoothie tends to be a good peace offering. It helps get calories in them but doesn’t feel the same as having to sit down and eat something.
Sorry. DS2 did this yesterday and I was so frustrated. He was super crabby because he was hungry and then refused to eat.

ugh I hate this part of marketplace. If I've given out my address I message one last time and tell them if it's not picked up today you're moving on to the next person. And now I don't give my address until they say they're on their way (I give a local business in initial conversation so they know general area they're heading to), and also set a hard deadline either in initial post or conversation. I've had so many people not respond and then I move on, and then they respond and I always feel so guilty even though that's not really on me.

Yes that's what I do, say hey, noticed this wasn't picked up, if it's not picked up today I'm moving on to next, thanks. I've never had an issue beyond that, either they message back and say sorry they will pick up (and then either do or don't), or ignore it and you move on and never hear from them again.
Friday night: get DD to and from region band practice. Saturday: get DD to region band practice and catch up on house stuff. Saturday night: Watch region band performance. (This was amazing. I was so impressed by them!) Sunday: Birthday brunch.
Only have all this to go… Monday: get DD to and from beginner band practice (she was asked to help out and is very proud as she was the only 7th grader asked). Tuesday: holiday band concert Wednesday: get DD to school early for band sectionals. Pick her up late for robotics.
I will be comatose by Friday but then it’s breakkk. Cannot wait!

I’m just not a big drinker and I went to a party last night where the drinks were flowing. I remembered why I’m not a big drinker Definitely makes you see people differently.
This weekend has been pretty nice. Last night we drove through Christmas lights through a well known neighborhood in our area. Then we lit the fire pit and made s’mores.
Today we are going to my ILs to celebrate SD and MIL’s bdays.
We cut down our tree yesterday and it's the best one we ve found in a few years! Then we lit a fire and watched Charlie Brown, Rudolph and Christmas Vacation. It was a perfect day. We're at our vacation place and always like to have a puzzle going. Last year after Christmas I got a Charlie Brown Christmas one on clearance someplace. I'm glad my husband remembered it. It's so cute!

One of my best friend's husband had a major medical event Friday and so DH and I drove to sit with her at the hospital yesterday. He should recover, but it will take time and I think my friend might experience PTSD from the trauma of it all. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and 3 kids, plus a stressful job in education. Trying to think of something to send her to make her smile.

Ugh that’s so tough Do you have Tiff’s Treats in your area? Cookie delivery is usually a nice treat.

Thank you for the idea, we do not unfortunately. She lives 2.5 hours away and in a very small town. We've known each other since 6th grade and I've never seen her cry so much and so hard as the past 2 days. I'm just so glad a couple of her older siblings have stepped it up to help her. Her oldest brother, very nonemotional person, told her he loved her and that made her feel so good and also made her cry.
