MAGA acolytes — from Vivek Ramaswamy and Trump lawyer Alina Habba, to multiple Fox News hosts — are publicly fuming over the singer, asserting she needs to stay out of politics, Axios' Natalie Daher writes.
Among the most extreme conspiracy theories surrounding Swift and her boyfriend — Super Bowl-bound Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — is that their relationship is a deep-state plot orchestrated by the NFL and Democrats to work in President Biden's favor.
Swift hasn't endorsed anyone in the 2024 presidential race. The N.Y. Times reports that the Biden campaign is courting her.
Ultimately, what we’re seeing as the Right complains, boycotts, and works themselves into inconsolable hysterics watching two people they’ve never met experiencing joy and love, and doing nothing but spectacularly succeeding in the capitalist world they so claim to adore—is what happens when misery finds its company.
I saw some "alpha male" post that Kelce is supposed to get a $70,000 bonus for the Super Bowl or something, and that's why Taylor Swift is with him. Um. Dude. She's worth exponentially more than Kelce. Her being after his meager bonus is laughable.

“The Conservative response to Taylor Swift’s relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce reminds us what grievance culture does to those who find their home in it: they eventually become violently allergic to joy.”
I’ve heard similar be said about liberals. Like, liberals will extinguish their own party because they will become so extreme with cancel culture that everyone will cancel everyone else and there will be no large enough unified group remaining. I like the idea of infighting in the R party full of conspiracy theory extremists a lot better!

$70K?
That's correct. That's the allegation. Whether the amount is correct I don't know, but any amount of a bonus for Kelce is laughable compared to Taylor Swift's net worth.
She seems like a smart woman. If she was truly going after money, I'd think she'd find a QB.
What do we know about Kelce’s politics? Are they afraid this outspoken woman is going to turn this good ol’ boy into a liberal?
Someone on ML said he “knelt for the anthem, he supports BLM, and he currently stars in Pfizer Covid vaccine commercials”. I’d have to google to find a source other than this board lol

Based on his Pfizer COVID vaccine commercial, I would guess he is liberal. Taylor is in her political era, so while anything is possible I find it unlikely she would want to be with a conservative at this point in her life. While she may not have directly endorsed Biden, she has been outspoken about supporting Democrats in her home state. She is also a big supporter of women's and LQBTQ issues.
I don't know what the problem is. People have loved to hate her since she started performing at 16 years old. I'm glad the general population has come around in recent years and it's now "cool" to like her, but getting backlash for doing absolutely nothing other than being female and successful is not new to her. Republicans notoriously hate female stars who speak out about liberal politics (remember the Dixie Chicks?) so I guess this is same old, same old. I know Taylor was concerned about exactly this and it's why she waited until years into her career to say anything political at all.
In general it seems Kelce is well liked, but I wonder if people are also getting sick of the Chiefs. Not only have they been dominating the last few years, but you can't turn on the TV without seeing multiple commercials starring him or Mahomes. Since Taylor was all over the news all year last year, I wonder if some of it is just overexposure for both of them. Which is not their fault.

In a new report, sources close to Donald Trump told Rolling Stone that the 2024 presidential candidate, whose fragile ego is the stuff of legend, is insisting to confidantes that he’s “more popular” than pop mega-star Taylor Swift, and that he has more fans than she does. Trump, the report states, was also affronted that he was not named Time Person of the Year in 2023—an honor that went to Swift—and has said to intimates that it “obviously” makes no sense that the magazine did not pick him.
A version of that theory aired on Fox News in mid-January, when the host Jesse Watters floated the idea that Ms. Swift was a government asset engaged in psychological warfare. He suggested that the runaway success of her Eras concert tour was aided by the Defense Department. “Have you ever wondered why or how she blew up like this?” Mr. Watters asked viewers. (He allowed that he had no solid evidence: “If we did, we’d share it.”)

It's not surprising, but yet... he is so unhinged. And people refuse to see him for who he is.
I knew about this from visiting my parents (who consume all manner of right-wing media) in December. When I casually mentioned Taylor's music, my mom reacted very strongly and started going on and on about how she was "evil". It was wild.
"A recent article from Fox News dinging Swift for flying on her personal plane from New Jersey to Maryland on Sunday to watch Kelce (and the Chiefs) play in the AFC championship game against the Baltimore Ravens. According to a Reddit account that tracks Swift’s jet and was cited in the Fox News article, that trip “cost $1,328 for the fuel and produced three tons of CO2 emissions.”
Every so often, Fox News comes dangerously close to making a solid point before swerving at the last second to avoid it."

Stay mad, assholes
She's literally written songs about this. "Mean," "Shake It Off," "You Need to Calm Down..."
And it's telling that they've decided to hate what, on the surface, looks like the most GOP poster-friendly couple ever: cis, white, midwest-farmer's-daughter-turned-pop-star and football star. The GOP stands for hate, nothing more..

I'm not even really a fan, but I'm LMAO that the same people that obsess over a game/sport (form of entertainment) have e such hatred for others indulging in the same thing with an artist (form of entertainment).
Like, football GOOD music BAD. Boys watch big man SPORT girls watch dumb MUSIC.
It irritates me that football fandom (regardless of team) is considered "respectable" and music fandom is considered weak, or frivolous, or something.
I am not expressing myself well, but maybe you get what I mean.

I'm far from a swiftie. Normally I'm pretty neutral when it comes to any pop star fans (going all the way back to not caring about knotb), and she's got her share of issues. She's also extremely talented regardless what I think of her and some pretty shit views especially when it comes to men.
But of course I'm going to be strongly in her favor here. The geezer ol pampers really miscalculated here.
They're trying to win the young vote with asshole Jo on voigt? Do they know what century we're in?

This is so funny to me. She played the long game - dating him since summer, flying back and forth (in her private jet) between shows on the chance that his team made it to the Super Bowl so she could get her hands on his $70k. She gave her road crew bonuses bigger than that. She is a literal billionaire and he thinks she is putting that much effort for a $70k bonus? lol.
I just don’t understand the strategy. Like I want to understand it but I don’t get the positive for the GOP on this. How could they think they could take her on? Did anyone see Colin Cowherd whole response to this? I don’t know anything about the dude but he nailed the response on it.

I'm pretty sure that account's satire.
If he is, then he's done a remarkable job as his wiki shows that he's been a lifelong conservative asshole.

Same - it was over Thanksgiving and my mom was going on about how she was after this football player for his money and we were all...I'm sorry, what? I thought it was just her usual misogynistic behavior but it tracks that it's coming from some wackadoodle conservative pundit she's been watching.
Watching her acceptance of what these people say as gospel is heartbreaking - even dumb stories like this.
I was really not much of a Swiftie, but I do love "You Need to Calm Down" and how much this bitch is rattling their cages. It will not end well for them. They continue to need the people they thrive on alienating. Bless their hearts.
I mean, I've never been a fan of Taylor Swift. Her music isn't my style, but by most accounts, she appears to be smart, dedicated, driven, and generous. Everything I'd want my DD to emulate.
Of course the GOP hates her. She's a strong woman who has made a metric shit ton of money based on her own talent. She has a massive following among the young people and she's very pro everything the GOP hates. Let them hate her. I hope they try to drag her through the mud. The Swifties appear to be a formidable group and won't stand for the GOP messing with their girl.
