Oh this is SUPER annoying! Especially because the majority of parents have their kids there because they work! So it makes zero sense to schedule things during "normal" working hours! I get it's a pain to do things in the evening but come on!
I get your point, but my big issue is doctors' offices assuming every parent is breezy about pulling kids out of school midday for appointments. I get that they have "bankers hours" too, but so do I (so I don't have unlimited time in the day to chauffeur vs work), and I'm not sure the expectation should be that my kid miss two hours of school for a routine check up.
Oh I get it and I agree!! My kid has missed so much school for orthodontist appointments these last 2 years!!
My Italy trip has been a real trip so far, lol. I had been nervous about the roommate situation and it was even worse than I feared - on the first night, I ended up in a small room with a woman who set her alarm for 12:30am to work on something for her class, then proceeded to have the alarm go off several times (including a flashing light) and never actually got up. Then she was up at 4am using her very bright computer, and did a freaking FACETIME CALL with no headphones with someone at around 4:30. Mind you, she was probably 4 feet from my sleeping body. As someone who is a people pleaser and would sooner die than inconvenience someone, I just cannot believe that someone would be like that! Especially after we took a redeye flight the night before so I basically got like 4 hours of sleep in 2 nights. Thankfully a couple of people decided to stay at a different hotel the rest of the trip so I'm now rooming with a lovely quiet person instead since there was space in their room.
Then the next morning I was immediately pickpocketed at the train station. Because of the roommate situation, I was disorganized and wanted to just GTF out of the room, so I still had all my cards and the $150 euros that I pulled out of the ATM the night before in my wallet. I am still baffled that this happened at all because it was just a couple of minutes between using my wallet and seeing that was gone, and I was with other people and nobody saw anything. But now I have no money, which sucks because I NEVER carry all my credit cards or cash at the same time and the one time I did, this happened. Thankfully I'm traveling with other people so one of them has been been paying for everything for me and I've been sending him Venmo payments. It's become a running joke about me having no money because what else can you really do but laugh about it?
Today has been fine so far and everyone other than that roommate is really nice and we've been having fun. It's been very busy so far and this is the first time I've really sat down by myself for more than 5 minutes since Friday. It's been a real adventure. I am not sure I've learned much yet but I'm getting 3 credits for being here so I can't complain!
My one and only pair of work-appropriate jeans have a hole in the crotch thanks to my thick thighs rubbing. Now I have to go jeans shopping and I'd literally rather do anything else but that. Where does everyone shop for flattering plus-sized jeans?
I liked Old Navy because they were very stretchy. And at a price point that I could afford, lol.
A couple years ago I ordered a pair of new balance that I could easily throw on to walk the dog during WFH. I liked them so much, I ended up ordering a second pair to have 2 pairs to rotate when we went to Universal.
It is really hard for me to find shoes that work for my high arches.
I just ordered another pair and they changed the design. They work ok, but not as well as the old design.
I hate how hard it is for me to find sneakers.
I've been running in Saucony Guides for a good 13 years and my latest pair is fucking up my foot. WTH? I appreciate some color changes, but otherwise just keep them the same!
wildrice, I am sorry your trip did not get off to a good start, and that you were mugged!! But also, WTF to the roommate. How old is she? That is ABSURD. I am like you and would not want to say anything but how on god's green earth do you think that is acceptable behavior, lady?!

I had a work meeting from 9-12 off site this morning. Site is about a 10 minute drive from my office, so I went in to the office to get settled and planned on leaving around 8:45ish to get to meeting. There was basically no one at the office when I got here and no one told me that we were supposed to just go to the meeting site instead. I still got there in plenty of time, but I don't like not knowing these things. I felt like I showed up late even though I was still technically at work on time. Apparently there was an announcement made on Friday afternoon about it, but I left at 4:30 to drop off something at a clients house on my way home so I guess I missed it. Also, I had to present a slide and I hate public speaking. They did have coffee and breakfast sandwiches though, so there's that.

wildrice that roommate is an Asshat! An inconsiderate Asshat! So sorry you got pickpocketed, but yea for a new roommate and the guy paying for stuff, that's so kind.
wildrice I'm so sorry! What a rough start, but you have a good attitude about it. So glad you were able to switch rooms. That first roommate was ridiculous!

Oh, thanks for suggesting ON. I was going to ask about that store because I'm taking DD Prom dress shopping tonight and there is an ON in the same shopping center.
wildrice, that sucks so bad but at least you can laugh about it.
I hope all those with interviews get the jobs they want!
This might be hard to explain but we had neighbors who we were/still are good friends with even though they moved to another town. That neighbor came over about 2 months ago to have H help him work on changing out a part on his truck. All pre-planned, etc and was somewhat of a complex job. I’ll call him Bob. Bob is friends with another neighbor, who lives about 8-9 houses down from us on our street. We’ll call him Rick. We know Rick but aren’t super friendly, mostly just the waive hi if we see them. Rick just happened to be walking up the street and saw Bob and my H working on Bob’s truck several months ago. While they were all chatting, Rick’s wife called to ask where he was and he said “I’m up the street at….they are working on Bob’s truck.” He couldn’t even remember Hs name so that gives you an idea of our relationship with Rick. Yesterday afternoon, there was a knock at the door and it’s Rick. His vehicle won’t start and he wants to know if H will take a look at it. I said to H “that’s ballsy, he doesn’t even know who you are.” Then as they are looking at the vehicle he tells H that the dealership wanted $1000 to fix it. Who does that???
(also, trying to be funny by using made up names for people you all don’t know based upon last weeks post)

Thinking all the good thoughts for you ProfessorArtNerd! I hope everyone replies quickly and kindly so you can stop stressing about this piece of it.
jinkies you poor thing! I hope it's not too painful and that you only need a sling.
wildrice omg and ugh and I'm so sorry to the pickpocketing, and I'm glad you've found a workaround. And WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK to the first roommate?! I would have been screaming at her. Like the first alarm is already unacceptable, but to wake up at 4 am?! No. I'm honestly getting angry just reading about it.

No idea how she thought that was normal, lol. She'll be 50 later this year so maybe she's just past the point of giving any fucks. I have no idea but it truly was absurd.
I did mention something as I was moving my stuff out of the room to go into the other room, and my impression is that she thought it was justified because it wasn't 4:30am where the person she was talking to was. LOL that's not how time zones work but ok. Some people are just so weird.

Our downstairs toilet overflowed this morning while DH was in the shower. We think DD used the toilet before she left for school and clogged it but either didn't know or didn't say anything (both are possible). DH noticed it was clogged and tried plunging to no avail, so he left it alone while he took his shower. Then when he got back downstairs there was water everywhere, so... plumber it is. It's probably a good thing, though, since I have been thinking something was going to happen sooner or later with that toilet. If they suggest replacing it, I'm all for it.

Not random so much as nerves — I’m getting my first colonoscopy tomorrow and my anxiety is on overdrive.
are you nervous about the procedure itself? The results? I am sorry you are nervous!
Both. I'm very anxious about the timing of the prep (it's a lot to remember and I am worried about not sleeping and not making it to the bathroom (sorry, TMI). And yes also results. Less so the actual procedure.

It really is so sweet. Right away several people were like "don't worry, we've got you, you can pay me later!" so it's a great group. This guy is a 24 year old kid who is so sweet to be looking out for me and making sure I have what I need when we go places. I didn't know most of these people before Friday so it's a nice affirmation that there are so many good people in the world (even if there are also pickpockets)

Ugh, I'm having this with some newer Brooks too!
I'm liking in commiseration with everyone. We have another trip to Universal this June and I have to rotate shoes or my feet get mad.

Maybe you can find some in the old design on eBay? I’ve had luck finding 2-3 yr old new in box shoes in specific styles from stores clearing out inventory on there.

I ordered new jeans from Old Navy on March 4th. It took forever for them to ship, but they were supposed to be delivered yesterday. UPS handed the package off to USPS and I got a message saying delivered, but there was no package. I looked again and it said that the package hand been picked up at the post office by an individual which is odd because the PO is closed on Sundays. A friend who works for the USPS is looking into it for me. I am hoping that it shows up today with my postman because I really need new jeans.

wildrice, the roommate is awful! I'm so glad you were able to find somewhere else to stay. It's awesome you seem to be rolling with things. Hopefully the rest of your trip is very uneventful.

DD had a stomach bug + fever over the weekend so she's home today/tomorrow at the very least and is in a super shitty mood. I feel like every weekend either the weather is terrible, or someone in our house is sick.
Last week I had a falling out with a friend over something incredibly stupid. This rift is causing very annoying repercussions in our social group but honestly I don't feel like it's worth the effort to "fix" if this incident is all it took for it to fall apart.

Universal Standard Seine skinny jeans are incredible and have held up to years of chub rub over here
Our local post office is the worst; our neighborhood has had tons of issues over the past 10 years with mail not getting delivered. Today I opened our mailbox and it's stuffed full of letters postmarked the first week of February, including bills which now have late fees because we never got them. This is costing us over $200 because they just...didn't deliver these for some reason. MH's been on the hold with the post office for 45 minutes and had to give up.

I impulsively bought a pair at Walmart that I really like. Time and Tru brand.

Everything thankfully works on the newly set up home office in the new place. I work a hybrid one week in the office, one week out. This is my first week home sine the move.
Ellie dawg is loving having 'mom' back during the day. With the move her separation anxiety got really bad and someone on a Beagle group suggested CBD treats. With R at her uncle's and me w/ my standing Sunday date night w J ... I gave them a try. OMG .. no issues! I'll be using them for when I have to go into the office (SF) and I'm gone for 11-12hrs (she has a doggie door too).
We're headed to AZ next week, and I went to look at our flight itinerary and just discovered that we didn't pick our seats. I SWEAR when I booked on Travelocity, I did it then, but I guess not. So, because we didn't want our DD to sit with strangers, I had to pay another $300 for our seats so that we could be together. ugh. I hate all these extra fees. I'm halfway ready to require all three of us to pack just for our carry-on. I don't want to give the airlines more money.
silva, also depending on your airline, check the costs of checking a bag online vs at the airport. We got a big pop up booking our June tickets that it's $35 online for a bag, and $40!!!! at the airport.
