campermom I don’t know why it struck me so sharply that your exH “resumed Adderall” after all. I know the point was to say that the doctor said that not administering it on visiting weekends should not have had this effect . But your exH’s relentless control in all the wrong ways is exhausting.
I don’t know what do either. But if it helps, even a little, to post please know that we care about you and want to see your posts.
Thanks livinitup it is so hard. Another unnecessary stressor. DNQ
It is absolutely disruptive and takes my focus away from the kids I am raising.
The anticonvulsant that’s used for mood stabilization showed responsiveness. Last summer ExH said he’s friends w doctors and demanded blood work from the psych and pediatrician who both said no. He was claiming that his dr friends told him it’s making our son sick, bc he had strep twice and one stomach bug all within one year. They both said first of all that’s not abnormal and why would we do blood work at this age for that. He just doesn’t want him on whatever the Tx plan calls for. And to create more unnecessary appointments for me to come to. But he doesn’t always make it to the real appointments.
He did so well on it we decreased it bc my son was doing so well in the fall, he began to struggle. We went back up. We (Dr and I) acknowledged it works.
Exh missed the last virtual psych appt last bc he was traveling. When we added an antipsychotic about a week and a half ago which is…uncomfortable at this age….his only response was to ask what my long term plan is for taking him off the anticonvulsant.
Now that he’s back from his trip, guess who missed the IOP psychiatrist appt today? And the med he doesn’t want him on was increased.
All so he can play Monday morning quarterback and argue what was decided.
campermom,I know the pandas treatment, etc is controversial and my pediatrician rolled her eyes at it but I did convince her to at least run the lab cultures for me. Will your general pediatrician at least run the culture for you and if the results are high and you need to treat then you can go out of network for treatment? we ended up not being high for the "right" strep which was super weird because no one had ever seen numbers that high for this other strain so the pediatrician did give us a few weeks of antibiotics just in case but it didnt do anything as we suspected
No, the pediatricians office was not aligned w any pandas treatments or evaluations. When I took him a few weeks ago they referred me to a hospital center neurology and I could t get an appt until mid July. I’ve been on the High Priority cancellation list for weeks, and nothing.
One of their neurologists is in the pandas world and has a private practice where he sees a few patients a week. I’ve been corresponding w him and we have an appointment next week. If I sneak out of work just an hour early I can use a half day instead of a full day, and my supervisor will let me make up the time later. That will leave me w one full day left.
I am paying $800 for the first appt and expect to pay 1-2000 for booodwork. ExH says he wants to come and honestly that’s for the best. I’d rather not be the one to persuade him after the fact.
