My kids were in such a good mood this morning! DS found DD hilarious rather than annoying, and when I did his hair (H usually does it), he told me it was "perfect!" DD was ecstatic because it was pajama day, and since I had to do laundry last night to make sure her favorite ones were clean, I turned on the dryer this morning so her jammies were warm. Now hopefully I'll have a productive day at work so I can feel good going into the weekend.

We ended up getting tickets to Jagged Little Pill the musical this weekend and I'm so excited! We didn't plan/don't have enough time due to DH's work for a meal out too, but yeah fun adult plans! I went down a rabbit hole last night and it looks amazing. I didn't know Alanis was so involved in the process. She's so much cooler now too. Hoping to listen to the whole album if time allows too. Oh 8th grade me is so happy!
I booked our family vacation for my week off in August! We’re going to Portland, Maine for one night to see a Sea Dogs game and the next day we check in to our beach hotel in Wells for 3 nights. We can’t check in until 2 and it’s only about 45 minutes away so we can spend the morning in Portland downtown and do some shopping and get food.
We might do a whale watch or a lighthouse boat tour-we’ll be near Ogunquit too. I’m open to any suggestions for food and activities in the area. I’m already planning on checking out the Wells nature preserve.
I had a weird situation happen yesterday (personal not work) and because it happened at the end of the day, I was anxious all night about it. It's not resolved yet (and won't be for awhile) but I did get a response to a couple emails I sent, and I'm feeling much better about things. Today is definitely looking up.
There is so much going on this weekend in the areas around me that I really don't want to leave. Between the NCAA Women's Final 4, the eclipse and being in the path of totality, and some other local events, there will be so many people and so much traffic to try and get anywhere.
ooof. It's been a LONG week for some reason so I'm welcoming Friday wholeheartedly.
My kid just called to get picked up at school because she didn't feel good. She's new to the whole period and cramps thing so I gave her some tips but also told her that while I'm sorry she'll need to settle into and learn to manage this because she's got 40 more years of it LOL Thankfully she's old enough that I could pick her up and drop her at home and come back to the office because I have to be in office today.
H went out after his evening meeting last night and was quite late getting home and while it's important for the higher ups to see his face especially since his hospital was just sold but I was still unimpressed with how late he got home...

The professor for my current class is lacking. The class is on financial markets and all he's giving is videos from a different professor that are 14 years old. I have no freaking clue what the midterm and final will contain, because there's zero homework.

Good, easy Friday days to all of you!
This is awesome - I have always loved the Jagged Little Pill album, but the play was even better than I expected. It's really neat what they did with creating a whole story out of an album that presumably wasn't originally written for that. The talent in the cast I saw was also just spectacular. I am excited for you!
Our puppy got a hold of our tv remote and destroyed it. She was doing so well since we got back from vacation, puppy proofing the house continues. She's destroyed so many items in our house, it's super frustrating.
Also, she apparently jumped into one of my tall raised garden beds and dug holes in a few garden places....she's going to ruin my garden this year, isn't she?
We got home around midnight from 5 days at Disney, and my goal today is to get all of the annoying post-vacation chores done before lunch so I can be lazy for the rest of the day.
Related: I've been having knee problems from a strained ligament for months now. I should have gone to the doctor, didn't, and panic-bought new Merrell sneakers rated well for walking a couple of weeks before our trip. I wore them to work a few times, and was surprised at how much they helped. I wasn't expecting them to help as much as they did at Disney, though, where we were doing 25,000+ steps every day. I had no pain (except for stairs) the entire trip. This sadly probably means I need to at least temporarily retire my cute work shoes and just live in these and maybe a backup pair until my knee gets better in a more permanent way, but I am so thankful that I was able to really enjoy the trip without worrying about hurting myself.

Enjoy! I saw it last year and it was very good, but much heavier than I had been anticipating. I did no research in advance though. If you've gone down a rabbit hole than you likely already realized. It is super well done though.

ugh.
My 15 month old puppy ate our remote last week. She'd never touched the remote before, so we hadn't worried about it. Thankfully a replacement was cheap and easy to find on Amazon. Dish sponges are her favorite though... The 3 year old dog chewed up FI's wallet yesterday, I thought he was well past being bad like that.

Since December when we got her she's destroyed....
5 iPhone charger cables 1 heating blanket 4 pairs of shoelaces 1 pair of slippers 1 sound bar remote 1 tv remote 5 Target Holiday Birds 3 dog beds
We can't put anything on shelves she can access. And our house is littered with knuckle bones and stuffed kongs and toys. It's so frustrating.
I made the colossal mistake yesterday of wearing a thong PLUS a too-short thong bodysuit for a 13 hour day at the office/out to dinner. I still have not regained full feeling in my nether regions.

Does she have a lot of unsupervised time? Is she crated when you're gone? You may need to try tethering her to you for a bit while she goes through this phase.

OMG, I attempted to try one of these on from Target because they have an affordable one that is a fitted t shirt on top and I couldn't even get the snaps to button! I do not have a long torso at all, so I have no idea what the deal was. Sounds so uncomfortable!
I had my last real meeting with my supervisor today and I almost cried, which caught me off guard because I am not a crier! I do tend to get choked up with goodbyes though. I will actually see her next week, but it will be for her going away stuff so it won't be 1:1. I feel very much at some kind of crossroads with my job right now and I'm not sure if I want to start looking for something else or just ride it out. I love where I work, but I am not fired up about my job at all these days.
I had a dream last night that I got bangs, and I'm kind of considering it. My hair stylist cut a layer way too short on one side where I almost have what I think are curtain bangs already anyway, and sometimes when I wake up in the morning it's over my forehead and it makes me think hmmm. I've had basically the same haircut for YEARS now so it might be fun to mix it up, but also it could look awful so idk.

Yeah, I remember a few folks on here (you, wildrice) and a radio host warning me it's QUITE heavy. I haven't seen the real Rent (just the live TV performance a few years ago), but it seems like it's semi along those lines, at least bring a LOT of tissues. I liked one person saying how much more JLP music means to them as an adult as well, now that they have some life experience. Holds up even better.
Sadly my husband isn't a theatre or musical person (boo!) so this will probably be my only and last fun pick for the rest of the year, lol, but I'm just so glad they still had tickets. It's a rather small theatre mid-state (I think you're in my state?) so I'm happy to have a good view from the balcony too.
TGIF! It was a strange week for DS. Off for spring break Monday/Tuesday, virtual day Wednesday due to flooding, 3 hour delay yesterday due to flooding, regular day today. And then half day for the eclipse Monday. Rough life, lol. I'm sure the kids are all nuts at school since they are off their routine. It was mostly a regular week for me and I was pretty productive so I'm happy about that going into the weekend.
This is kind of our last weekend of no plans for the foreseeable future. Next weekend is opening day for Little League, so we'll have Saturday games most weekends, then we have a couple evening events the last two weekends in April, and all the May end of school year craziness. Plus using our boat on weekends once that comes out of storage. I am going to relish not doing much or driving anywhere. Tomorrow we'll stop by our local brewery for their 4 year anniversary and Sunday we have a birthday party, but that's it. I'm not sure about tonight. It's rainy and cold so maybe just pizza and a movie.
Picking DD up a bit early today for our final dance competition weekend of the season. Usually the girls start dancing on Friday afternoon, but this one doesn't have Friday dancing. The girls are going to swim at the hotel pool, order pizza, and just spend time hanging out. The older girls are so awesome with our younger girls, it's a really nice dynamic and most of the parents get along really well. I'm looking forward to having some grown up conversation along with a drink or two. Two of of girls are seniors and very involved at the studio, they will be so missed, I think it will be a very emotional weekend.

Yes, she's kenneled while we are gone, but I WFH 3 days a week and try to keep her in my office. This week I expanded her space because anytime I checked she was sleeping with our other dog, all was going well until this morning. Back to staying in my office again.

I got home yesterday from a 3 night business trip. Am I the only one that can't sleep when I am away? The hotel bed was super comfortable, but I just can't sleep in hotels. I end up tossing and turning and waking up at all hours of the night. I was exhausted and in bed by 10:30 last night and slept like a rock until 9:30 this morning.
DS(8 later this month) slept until 8:30am so I got to finish my book since I woke up at 6:45am. That's my kind of morning. In an hour I'm taking DS to behavior therapy and then he has a play date this afternoon.

If you’re open to suggestions and still want to wear cute shoes, try using KT tape for your knee (if wearing pants or a long dress/skirt). You can find videos on YouTube for how to apply and each application lasts 2-3 days.
Our local theater just announced their 24/25 Broadway series.
My kids love live theatre but there are 2 shows I’m debating if they’re kid appropriate. One I’ve seen but it’s been 20 years so my memory is hazy. If anyone has seen them I would love feedback.
The shows are Mamma Mia and & Juliet. Kids are 10 and 14.
E and I are out running errands and grabbing groceries.
We’re waiting to see if my car is ready from the body shop and DH’s truck is at the dealer for some recalls and state inspection.
DH and my dad are working on the screen for the pool pump. I hope they get done today. DH has been overthinking this whole thing with his engineer brain.
I sadly had to return a pair of boots this morning. They were like a 1/2 size too small and on clearance so I couldn’t exchange. Everywhere that’s selling them still has them for the full $450 which is more than I’d want to spend.
I have had the worst shoe and boot luck lately! I think I’ve bought and returned 8 different pairs? Maybe even 10. More than half were damaged or defective in some way. I think quality control is a thing of the past. These were all major brands!
At least these were perfect, just too small and I could return them in person. The last time I was sent defective boots I had to mail them back they wanted me to spend $12 to do so.

I'm taking my 13 year old to & Juliet next year - she'll be 14 by then.
I've asked similar questions about other shows in the past; the advice I get from here is usually "Broadway is for all ages". I find that to be pretty universally true. I've taken DD to several shows; sometimes she gets it, sometimes it' goes over her head, but I find the way musical theatre is presented, it's generally very PG/PG-13.
(I took her to Beetlejuice this past fall, and it had some racier moments, but no worse than the movie. She laughed and loved it.)
