My school is closed today to observe Eid-al-Fitr. I definitely don't mind a day off in the middle of the week. I'm having a slow morning so far. Eventually I will work out, go for a walk, and get some things done. I have a hair appointment at 4PM so H has to pick DS up from aftercare and take him to baseball, so I get out of basically all responsibilities today until 6pm lol, yay. I didn't plan it that way on purpose but I'm not mad about it.
Unfortunately, what was to be a nice relaxing day now has a cloud over it because I just heard from DS's teacher that he "engaged in a pushing and shoving altercation" with another kid at recess yesterday. The principal reviewed the cameras and determined both kids were at fault and he is missing recess today. H wants me to call the principal to find out more about what happened (usually he takes care of this because he works in the district too, but he's busy all day) and now I am full of dread. Cool. I'm just so frustrated with him. It's like every few weeks there is some kind of minor thing that I hear about. Why can't you just keep yourself in line OMG.

The show at my alma mater was so fun. DS2 and DD laughed so much. It was pouring when we left, but they had free busses lined up to take us to parking garages, so nice.
DD has enjoyed her skip day so far. Slept in, pjs all day, Starbucks hot chocolate I brought home after dropping off the boys at school, and I'm getting Chipotle take out for lunch.
I went to see āCompanyā last night . It was a really good production, but after the first song there was a technical issue so everything had to pause for around a half hour. Itās already a long show so I didnāt get home until almost midnight, then I had a really early dr appointment this morning so Iām dragging.
Iām so ready for school break next week. Iām taking DS2 to Florida and Iām ready to get some sun.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.ā
Kids are off for Eid here too, I'm in the office though, boooooo. At least I was able to head in a little early and miss some of the usual traffic?
Speaking of traffic, I need Google Maps to stop being dumb. Going home from work, it always wants me to take an early exit off of a particular highway and wind my way back onto it with access roads to save two minutes, which it doesn't because traffic lights through there back up. But it never sends me my usual way home when I exit the next highway, which is always a minimum of five minutes faster. WTF?

I am having so much fun with the kittens. They are so stinking cute I can't stand it. Getting to know their personalities is the best part. We went to the Vet last week and they are in great health and she doesn't think that they'll have any issues adapting to life with only 3 legs. They said that we should free feed them until they are at least 6 months, but man are they little poop machines. What do you do with the "stuff" that you scoop out of the litter box? I've been cleaning it out every day, but I'm quickly running out of grocery bags. I'll eventually get a litter robot when they are bigger, but for now, I'm just scooping away.
WWYD? Ugh. On Good Friday my company closed at 3pm. I have to enter my hours in an online system where you can punch or enter the hours later. It is annoying, because I'm full time and it's the same unless I take PTO which is entered and approved beforehand. So I worked until much later than 3 that Friday and was rushing to get to packing for my vacation and when I went in to put my end time as 3pm I put AM instead. I ended up getting 10.5 hours of overtime in my check. My manager couldn't fix it so I contacted HR and the person had to figure out what to do. I just got an email saying she was able to deduct 10.5 hours from this week. Do I need to point out that overtime is paid more? They should figure out that it has to be deducted at the OT rate, right? I already feel like a pain in the ass.

I wish there was a way to shake sense into people. This family member is constantly sick, always complaining about some ailment, lack of sleep, no energy, you name it. At the same time, they live a sedentary lifestyle, not great nutrition, poor sleep hygiene, drinks too much...
They are way too young (mid 30's) for this. And yes, I understand other factors that can be at play, I'm just not getting into everything right now, but am so frustrated and want better for them.

Litter genie! It makes it so easy to scoop boxes. Honestly I don't see the point of a litter robot with one, it takes me 2 minutes max to scoop the box and throw the litter into the litter genie. I empty that every couple of weeks (I just have 1 cat). Super simple and never smells bad!

The forecast is still showing chilly with a chance of rain for Saturday, although the rain is only likely to be a little sprinkle in the morning and then overnight. We've already added some patio heaters, but this afternoon we have to make the call on whether or not to tent. The reason we chose our venue is that it's a gorgeous garden, the entire point is to be outside in pretty nature, not some generic plastic box! Plus of course it's an extra cost. But equally, we obviously don't want people being wet and miserable! Uggghhhhh obviously this is such a FWP, but seriously why?!

I finally convinced my H to check out therapy for himself. He's really struggling about a bunch of things and just needs someone to talk to and get help around sleep. Happy he's finally agreed. It's felt like having to walk on eggshells for a while.
I had to fire someone earlier this week and now I am doing two full time jobs until we hire a new person. Plus I am coming off a week long vacation that was immediately followed by a week long conference out of state. My to do list is so long it's laughable. So here I sit scrolling.

It's a pain. We were meant to have an outdoor wedding on a porch of a facility and then it decided it needed to snow and go down below 30F in April in PA. We had to move it indoors. I really wanted the view of the river and outdoors. I'll cross my fingers for you! (if you do the tent and it turns out to be nice, perhaps you can have the sides rolled up, so they can see things and still be protected from light rain)

I got makeup on my contact and I can't get it off. It's driving me insane.
In happier news, DS's OT said she foresees him testing out by the end of the school year. He's had some type of therapy (or several at 1 time) since he was about 6 months old. He's worked so hard. Not to say he doesn't still have some challenges, but he needs a break.
Thank you for all the commiseration yesterday about DD's 5th grade drama, I am happy to report that she was ok when I picked her up and the principal read their class the riot act.
Checking in on all the CPA's here....you ok? My H has been holed up with his laptop for days, I just got back home and saw him going to the mailbox in his boxers. Wut.
I'm in a travel group for Puerto Rico, and recently someone asked if they should grocery shop at home and bring their own meat (frozen) in their luggage. I can't stop laughing at the visual of a suitcase full of frozen steaks, and it reminded me of the poster here years ago who asked about bringing their own butter on vacation (I think I remember the name but don't want to tag in case I'm misremembering LOL).

I love it when I call my mom to vent and it turns into a session where she reminds me what a good mother she was and makes it all about her š now Iām just pissed at everyone. Iād like to go to bed and restart the day.

When my cats were kittens and we had a litter box, I used dog poop bags. They were the perfect size and you can get a ton for really cheap. Now the cats are old enough to go through the dog door and take care of their business outside.
All of my issues are work related and they're because no one is doing my old job or being held accountable and I'm kind of just waiting for the implosion and for my marshmallows to figuratively roast when it happens.
I'm about to be out of popcorn from all the drama I've been watching from the sidelines.
emilyinchile, I really don't think it's a FWP to complain about potential rain on a wedding. So hope it all works out with the weather. You vent away! We had an outdoor ceremony and it did rain a little while everyone took their seats and then it stopped. OMG. The next day was a torrential rain pour the whole day. So one day different and our venue would have been moved inside. I get it. I picked my wedding for the outdoor space and there wasn't much we could do.
Today was a good morning. I went to yoga and walked the dog and I'm trying to have some quiet space before a long day of clients. We were at the beach last week so it's been okay getting back to routine.
DS (first year in college) didn't have a lot of plans this weekend and so it brings up my anxiety about his social anxiety. I need to remember we are different people, he didn't sound bummed about not having plans and he did go to the gym, play his intramural sports and worked his job as a sports referee. Last weekend he talked about plans with friends. He was home a few weeks ago and was fine. DH and DS are such introverts it's hard for me to understand as an extrovert. He got mad at me when I asked him why he didn't plan more. He's still taking his lexapro and he's almost at the end of his first year living on his own. He's made a few friends but he doesn't have plans as much as I would like. Anyway, he had a bad spell of anxiety his junior year of high school and so this triggers my mom PTSD and my generalized anxiety.

Did I miss kitten pics?! I second the Litter Genie for scooping. Make sure to use the higher yield roll for the liner refills, with 2 cats I was changing the refill out constantly.

Ugh, tough call! Given what you said about the forecast, I'd probably risk it and go without the tent but scrounge up a bunch of umbrellas. And put someone in charge of toweling off chairs an hour before ceremony start time.
We finally got our "bargain" pool table down to our basement, with the assistance of a professional billiards company, lol. It still only cost $450 all told and no one got injured, plus DS and DH are delighted with it and it has a cover for ping pong/came with a ton of accessories so š¤·āāļø. Now we have a piano on the second floor and this in the basement so we are basically never moving.
For some reason my throat really hurts today. It started last night but is worse today. I'm thinking it's just my allergies but they don't usually present this way but the other things I've got going on (like stuffed ears) let me know it's definitely allergy time of the year for me. But thankfully I have a very light calendar today so that's good.
H has this annoying trait where I will ask him if he can do something and he will respond "probably" and it's so annoying because that's not a solid yes or no in my thinking. Typically for him that does mean yes but damn dude - just say yes or no! He doesn't understand how or why that is annoying

My mom called me FURIOUS yesterday bc she thinks all my sister and i do is talk about her. As if we have nothing else to talk about. THEN she bitched about my sister til she came in and called her out about it. It's the same thing! Except my sister and I also ask about each others' days and lives, too. All my mom does is call me, complain about my sister and nephew, and hang up.
I am simultaneously THRILLED to be done lecturing this semester and TERRIFIED of my surgery monday. I want to keep myself hopped up on Xanax til then, but I can't.

lavenderblue, I definitely recommend a litter genie, they are so nice!
I have a mid-term tonight. I'm dreading it, it's a bunch of financial formulas that I'll never use in real life, or if I need them, I'll use a handy dandy online calculator. I've taken the practice test 3 times, so I'm hopeful I do well.
Does anyone have recs for an earring brand that is good for sensitive or newly pierced ears? I got a second hole in November and I think it's basically healed - no pain or anything for a while now. But I don't want to just shove some crappy earrings in the holes and irritate them. I am specifically looking for small silver hoops.
I'm also looking for dog food recs - my dog is currently on small breed Blue Buffalo but his poop isn't solid enough so I am thinking about trying another brand.

Off for follow up breast MRI. 6 months ago I needed a biopsy which was negative, but here I go again. My nerves are shot. I feel like I just did all this and recovered form the anxiety and here i am again.
