I was feeling confident last night and did a lot more riding on my peloton than I have as of yet. Did some weights, stretch, a long ride, etc.
I stood up this morning and whispered, “That was a mistake.”
I’m really enjoying it so far now that I’m not afraid of the bike. And!! I clipped out on my own yesterday and did not have to ask a family member to pull my foot, lol.
Same girl. Same. I've been sticking to 15-20 minute rides and for some reason decided to do a 30 minute ride. I stick to the Low Impact classes for now and it still kicked my butt.
I'm really sorry about your dad! I hope everything is ok. If it turns out he has to be admitted, you could hire a dog sitter/walker from Rover.com to come over a few times/day to walk the dog, feed it, etc. It would be worth the expense not to have to worry about it.
That’s a good idea! I was looking to see if his vet boards but they don’t. I’m hoping it is something simple and he’ll be back home soon. He seemed a lot less concerned than I am!
He’s had some out patient procedures done but nothing unexpected or that might keep him away from home before and it threw me for a loop.

tacokick , I hope your dad is ok! DH and I, as well as my brother have used Rover for our cats with a lot of luck. I second that idea if you need help with dog walking just to take one thing off of your plate.
I completely forgot it was (going to be) Wednesday until I was trying to fall asleep last night. My dad was supposed to have a specialist apt today that DH was taking him too. Kept me up far too late with worry if DH can't take him now. Call this morning to confirm and the person can't find his apt. Thankfully the doc somehow just had an apt 20 minutes earlier so I grabbed that, but now I still haven't rc'vd a confirmation, and I forgot to ask their location as they had moved and the address doesn't match online. I called three times and finally left a message. Honestly this is supposed to be the least stressful apt he has.
Guess the good news is that Wed work day is almost half over.
I took DD to register for her classes for freshman year tonight. They did get rid of honors precalc and only offer AP precalc now, and I'm amused that she will get a +1 GPA boost (instead of our .5 honors boost) for that class. But I guess it's fair, as all the DE kids taking "College Algebra" (AKA: Algebra, lol) get the same bump.
She signed up for studio art, which was my favorite elective, but she also signed up for theater (so not me). I am glad we still have both electives, they are being cut in other schools right now as we adjust back to our meager no-more-ESSER- funds budget.
I've been trying various internet tips to get the charred beyond recognition muffin smell out of my microwave, and it's really getting better! It's only a year or two old, but I was ready to replace it- such a horrid smell! Boiling citrus peels in water (for the steam) helped a lot- and hopefully leaving baking soda in it overnight will kill the last remnants.

That was the part that was really not ready: my butt may never recover.
Rescheduled dental appointment was a nightmare. Hygenist was 25mins late, then they didn't tell the dentist I was done. This is why I have my hygenist and an 8am appt.

LOL I just told my daughter this morning that my butt callous seems to finally be forming because the longer class didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would
Are red bath towels weird? My BFF's son is graduating from HS, and going to a college whose colors are red, white, and gold. His situation is unique, but he will be in a dorm. I told BFF I wanted to get him towels (and will monogram them bc I do that - I'll also include a check for $20.24). She loved the towel idea, but said dark colors bc boy.
I'm leaning toward school colors - red or burgundy - unless those are weird, in which case I'll probably do dark gray. But I can't decide.

I'd be afraid to do red because, if he messes up laundry, he could end up with everything pink. Red towels tend to bleed easily. Could you do the gold and white?
cereal K, I agree that red towels have strong potential to ruin other laundry (source: i am terrible at laundry, and would almost definitely ruin something with them LOL).
Could you do the dark gray with burgundy/gold monogramming?
I have been struggling a lot lately with typing the wrong words for things. I've always been pretty meticulous in my writing and it's kind of alarming for me to read back emails (or posts here) and see weird mistakes.
Like in my post above, I wrote "goal" instead of "gold". I've sent emails this week using "recent" instead of "reason" and "realize" instead of "respond". The sentences make no sense as written, but my brain isn't catching the mistakes anymore. I also sent an email to the wrong person because their names are similar.
I am not normally someone who worries about my health, but I've been having trouble with word-finding in general for a while. Now that I'm also substituting wrong words, I'm wondering if I should be concerned or if this is just another shitty part of aging? I'm only 45.

tacokick, I hope your dad is ok. If it were me, I would have also said to call 911.
jinkies, I feel like I forget words too frequently now, and I'll be only 42 in a couple of months. I was thinking of raising it at my next annual well check with my doctor.
The tornado sirens were going off last night when I was taking the dog out for his pre-bedtime potty, and it didn't even register that they were going off. I hear them so rarely, and the storm cell had already passed our area, that it wasn't on my mind that they should be going off. Turns out they were going off in the whole county, for tornado-like conditions in the very southern part of the county (and we are in the very northern part of the county, like 30 miles away).

I just had the most rage inducing meeting. My boss, my same level colleague, and my direct report were there. My boss said he wants the 3 of to do a project. Great, happy to (or as happy as I ever am to take on more work). My same level colleague was like "Ok, I'll get lilypad's direct report and we'll do this!" and my boss was like, right, all 3 of you need to work on this b/c lilypad has some unique experience and I want her perspective in it. And same level colleague again was "ok well I set a meeting for me and Lily's direct report and then we'll report back". WTF. Then my boss was like, if you choose to go that route, then I want you to run the whole thing by lilypad and she'll decide when it's ready to be moved forward. That went over just as well as you think it would, lol.
Anyway, my boss is on it and has already scheduled a meeting with my colleague to address it. He's already called me to to tell me he's on it and to just take the lead for now. We are a fully remote team, but we're all going to be in person next week, and I can already see how annoying it's going to be to be in the same room with same-level colleague. Which is too bad, b/c before my promotion, she and I were pretty close and got along well. But, I still have a job to do and I'm not interested in her drama.

I was having such a rotten day yesterday that I decided to take myself out for dinner. What was for dinner you ask? A plate of French fries and a chocolate lava cake. lol So good though. I did run into some one that I went to high school with that I haven't spoken to in over 20 years so that was a kinda nice/awkward reunion. I guess that's what I get for never getting out of my home own.

After all of the school picture drama, it was just a class picture yesterday.
I'm dying over a pic of his family DS drew. It has my moms 4 cats plus the 2 at his dads house. Then of course the human family members. His teacher must think we're crazy lol.

A true random, is there a physical difference between diet and zero sugar soda? I'm afraid to try zero sugar as I don't like diet, but I wonder what they do different? To be fair I don't drink a lot of sugar soda, pretty much just sugar free selzter.
That remember food thread also has me missing a seltzer brand I now forgot the name of that had a flavor Mountain Loganberry. I drank so much of that they should have sent thank you letters, lol. I know this wasn't Clearly Canadian, but something in the upper NY region. For some reason I just didn't like CC (sorry!)

Diet and zero sugar sodas taste very different to me. Diet has aspertame and zero sugar is made with splenda. I usually can't tell the difference between zero sugar and regular. I'm not suggesting that either are a healthier option, but as a T2 diabetic, I chose the zero sugar when I have a soda.
15-20 minute rides. I'll raise you a 3 hour gravel ride with VO2max intervals in the middle of it............then again a Peloton class is not easy! If you ever take with Christine D'Ercole...I used to race on the velodrome Olympic style bike track racing with her in the mid 2010s==2015-2018 or so. She's a many many time USA Cycling Track National Masters Champion.

To me, the zero sugar versions taste almost identical to the full sugar "regular" sodas.

I agree. I prefer the zero sugar over diet as well.

followyourarrow,Thanks prettypitties, donutsmakemegonuts, for the feedback. I'll have to try zero sugar next time I have a soda. My brother was drinking a lot of zero sugar Ginger Ale and that's what got me curious.
Also followyourarrow, I think it was you who had a lot of issues with your class including tests? I hope your class is getting better and is almost over.
My life turned upside down a week ago when my mare gave birth to surprise twins. It has been utterly exhausting ensuring they are cared for 24/7 while still working full-time. It's a miracle mom and babies survived and both babies are thriving despite the 2nd one being teeny tiny.

That was me! The final is on Sunday, so I'm almost done. The problem is the 5-6 hours of lectures per week don't tie to the study guide for the final at all, so my classmates and I are all freaking out. We've emailed the professor, but of course he's not responding.

Surprise farm births are my favorite part of TikTok. I watched a video about a woman unexpectedly finding out one of her goats had a baby while she was at work, and now every once in a while, the algorithm will drop a small Scottish calf or unexpected foal into my feed, and I love it. Having it happen in real life would probably end me from happiness.
My DS is invited to bday parties for various members of his preschool class on each of May 11, 18, 19, and June 1. June 1 happens to be DS's actual 5th bday.
IDK how other parents feel, but it seems like a lot to me, whew! Part of me doesn't want to pile on. Who wants a second, 2-party weekend, and a 5th preschool party within a month! OTOH, I don't want DS to be disappointed if he doesn't have his turn.
I don't want to do it June 1, in conflict with the friend's. June 2? Wait a week? WWYD? I think there's another child with another birthday pretty close after DS, too.
We were planning to steer him toward a low key backyard party. Last year we did make your own s'mores in the fire pit, and it went over pretty well. We live about 5 mins from their school, so the idea is that it would be a quick commute for most people (compared to, e.g., a few parties that have been 1/2 hour away). Maybe add real food and beer for parents to make up for yet another one?
I have started dreading seeing evites in my inbox, between my two kids!
