I've wanted a lovesac sactional for my family room since I bought the last couch I hate. We got a super cheap sectional from Bob's (ugh) when we were house-poor that I think is microfiber and it's the bane of my existence because every drop of water leaves a stain and the pillows are always scrunched down when the kids jump on them or my H puts his arm on top of it. The couch looks ridiculously disgusting at this point and it's 10 years old so I can finally justify getting rid of it.
The room is right off the deck with a doggy door which means the dogs run in and out of the house, get excited and jump all over the couch with wet and sometimes muddy paws. There's no way around this. They are who they are and this is the life we have chosen. Also--they shed A LOT (beagles).
I'm super turned on by the lovesac because it's washable (though i am aware it's a PITA to get the covers on and off).
Does anyone have opinions on how this will hold up to dogs?
I'm thinking of taking advantage of this Costco bundle, but holy shit the price of Lovesac has really gone up since I looked at it a few years ago and it would be $6,800. I'm thinking Corded Velvet in Sky Gray:
My husband and I looked at them, in store. They were the most uncomfortable couches we had ever sat on. We decided then and there that they were off the table to be considered.

I work in buying at a retailer whose assortment includes furniture. Timing is on your side, as Memorial Day is a big buying time in furniture - there should be significant discounts to try to pick up market share.
The furniture business is tough right now, based on pull-forward of demand during Covid, inflation, less moving due to interest rates. This is affecting everyone, from the opening price point at Bob's, all the way up.
If I were you, I'd go to the physical store now and be sure you like the item, and sign up to their email list. You could see holiday promotions from LoveSac kicking off during the week of 5/19, in advance of the long weekend. You may also see something extra for the Sat-Mon period to drive traffic. Costco might promote but since it's on-line only, there's less urgency there.
There is a good chance this will repeat around 7/4 and again on Labor Day. I would not pay full price.
We have a sactional and have for maybe close to 10 years now (I don’t remember exactly when we bought it). We used to let our dog on the couch and it held up to him. We’ve since trained him to stay off for reasons. As a couch it’s not super comfortable if you keep it as a standard couch, but we have double chaises on ours now that make it so comfortable. We call it the napping couch. We started with one chaise and had to add a second so two people could nap at once. 😂. I love that I can wash the covers for all parts easily. I do it usually 1-2 times a year which is why it still looks brand new. I also love that I can add pieces as our needs change. We’ve expanded it lengthwise by one and added the second chaise in the years we’ve had it. We’ve changed the configuration multiple times through the years. If you turn the cushions so they are deep it’s more comfortable than the standard way. Plus add chaises.
That all said we bought new couches for two other rooms in the past 18 months and did not go with sactionals for those. We considered and opted to go with regular couches both times.

We have one and love it but I encourage you to make sure your marriage is strong before you attempt to build one together because when I say it tested every single communication skill I have, I am not lying. I love the shit out of my husband, but I have never wanted to chuck him out the window more than the day we built our LoveSac.(ETA, we have two dogs, two cats and two kids and it’s holding up well.)
thebreakfastclub I love when you give us insider info! LOL Thanks! I'll def keep an eye out.
@mrsgreeko, Being able to change it is a huge perk. Out current room is very long and narrow, but we have a wall we'd like to take down in the future which would allow for a bigger couch and then we'd be able to just add a few pieces.
underwaterrhymes, I have heard that before. Can you build it alone? I might send him and the kids out of the house and do it alone. LOL
We’ve had one for about 8.5 years and I love it. It’s comfy, I find it easy to clean, it’s held up well. Ours is white and we have 2 kids and it’s still white since I can wash it. I recommend them when people ask.
icedcoffee you can build it alone - it gets easier each time you rearrange it but it is a pain in the ass the first time but you could do it alone with enough time and no distractions lol.

My SIL has one and H and I find it very uncomfortable to sit on. Then last year we were furnishing our new family room and went into the lovesac store and tried them to see if we liked a different firmness better and still just didn’t like how any of them felt to sit on. H found that the backs didn’t go high enough for him to actually lean back on either, so he had to sit upright instead of lounging which is annoying.
We ended with a sectional from Macy’s and are super happy with it. The care plan Macy’s offers covers rips and stains and stuff for 10 years, including from pet mess. And we paid $2500 instead of over $6K

icedcoffee - my friend built hers alone and she said it just took a lot of time. I am very short, however, and it took a lot of wrestling it to get pieces to slot into place. As aggravated as I was at my husband, I really needed him to help build this fucking beast of a couch.
We just bought one a month ago specifically because of the washability of the covers, and have already washed a couple covers one two occasions so far (thanks daycare illnesses). I fin the covers not that hard to take off/put on, and definitely easy to wash (also machine dried with no issue). Definitely wait for a sale, they go to 30% off pretty regularly, like every couple of months. They also have a "hero" discount you can stack if you're a healthcare/fire/police worker, maybe teacher? Also agree to go to a showroom to feel it before you buy and to decide what configuration/which cushion type you want. With the 30% sale on their website, you can get the couch for less than the costco bundle, assuming you don't want all the extras included in the bundle (sac, blankets, accessories). Also just fyi the storage seat is much heavier than the non storage seat, in case you have to carry it up any stairs like I did 😅. So far I'm very happy with it!
I looked at a Lovesac bc they can be reconfigured and we move a lot. The back was low and the seat very short. My H is only 5 10 and he was not a fan. I didn’t like it either.
We ended up with a la z boy that is much better imo.
We'll definitely go try it out before we buy. I know a lot of people say the back is low. Our space is not huge, so we can't do an oversized comfy couch but I definitely want it to be as comfy as possible because our Bob's couch sucks.
I wanted to do this for a while, too. But the more I thought about it, I realized that we’ve had our other couches for years and years, and I’ve never felt the need to wash the cushions. And they are still fine. And given the cost, plus the huge hassle of building it, and the hassle of taking covers off, washing them, and putting them back on, which I didn’t really think I would ever do unless there was a major spill, in the end, I decided we’d be better off just buying a regular sectional of some kind. And for the price, we should still be able to get a really nice sectional. We have an Axis sofa from crate and barrel in their very durable microfiber blend and it’s held up great for us. So I would probably do something like that in a sectional.
I felt like just getting all the love sack boxes down to our basement, building the whole thing, and then disposing of all the boxes and waste in and of itself was a giant project that I didn’t really want to pay a lot of money to bring on!
My brother has had one several years with large dogs and it has held up very well. It's also incredibly comfy to sleep (and sit) on. I have slept on it more than once and my daughter usually does when we stay at his house. If it were in our budget I would absolutely buy one.

I will just say that we also have dogs that jump on our couch with wet/muddy paws, but I refuse to let them ruin our furniture. Our solution has been to buy blankets to cover our couch (better than the clear plastic of yore, at least?) that are easy to wash when they get disgusting from the dogs, and then if we want to sit somewhere the dogs have gotten dirty but don't want to wash/change the blankets yet, we just fold over the blanket or move it before sitting, and put it back when we get up. When people come over, we just take all the blankets off and throw them in the laundry room. My kids honestly just sit on top the blankets (they are the Big Ones from Kohls and at least match our decor).
Our sectional is from Wayfair, and we took a huge risk in ordering online without sitting on it but it worked out (3 pieces recline and it's super comfortable). It's a pain to wash all the blankets, but I do it weekly at least, so I can't imagine how much a pain it would be to do the covers of a couch.
We have one in our basement - it was literally the only way we could get a big sectional down there (due to very narrow doors and stairs). We actually haven’t washed the covers yet, even though we have had it a few years (we have dark gray covers). It’s not the most comfortable couch in the world and not what I would have picked if we had options of what would fit, but I don’t find it uncomfortable.
We had visions of reconfiguring often, mainly when guests came over and making it into a big bed etc, but reconfiguring is kind of a pain so we never do it lol.

We got one in a few months ago and I love it. I think we opted for the softer cushions. I've slept on it a few times when I wasn't feeling well and H naps on it all the time. My kid loves it too- lots of bouncing on it and it looks fine. The cats have scratched up the arms a little bit but we've placed cat trees strategically so that's mostly stopped. We ordered from the store during a sale. The sales lady was really helpful but not pushy and helped with selecting fabrics and the configuration.
I haven't read all the replies, but we've had ours for 6 years now and I love it. I regularly sleep on it when I'm having trouble sleeping in bed. It has held up to the kids well, including one who was a baby/toddler. Held up great for the dog. Covers are easier after you do it a few times and the cushions wear in.
I just bought new couches. We tried Lovesac and were shocked to find it very uncomfortable.
I fell in love with an Arhaus one. I found a dupe at a local small business furniture store which came out to about half the price (10k vs 5k). Extra deep seats, chair and a half cushions sizes, chose the fabric from hundreds of options. I love it.
I’d strongly consider going to a local store or two and seeing what their top tier options are like.

I think we will leave a light sheet or something on it to help prevent damage and make it easier to de-fur it.

This is what we did. Sheet or just yardage of fleece. Easier to wash. And she was a heavy shed-er too.
I have not found them to be comfortable at all, but that is just me. I love the idea of them for the washability, but I prefer a couch that is not firm.
We “tested” one at Best Buy when we were sectional shopping. I don’t remember not finding it comfortable, but I’m leary about modular sectionals. We had one 15 years ago (a Lane, before the Lane brand was sold) and it was only ever comfortable if you sat in the middle of a single cushion. I couldn’t lounge across two cushions and I hated laying on it because I could feel the frame of each piece where they butted up. Now, the Lovesac version may be better here or have improved this, but i just couldn’t get over it.
When you do go test it in person, seriously sit in allll the weird ways you might - on a cushion, between two cushions, laying down, half laying - whatever, but check it all.
1) It’s large. Three sections will be much longer than a typical sofa. Definitely check the measurements against your room.
2) It’s a huge PITA to get the thing laid out right. While you CAN rearrange it, you won’t want to do it very often.
3) The covers on the cushions are easy to remove, but the covers on the frame pieces aren’t.
4) While you CAN replace the covers, they discontinue fabrics frequently so it’s hard to replace just one or two, you’d have to replace them all, which is almost as much as a new sofa.
5) Ours is pretty comfy, especially for napping, and has held up to everything except cat claws.
6) There are so many brands of modular sectionals with removable covers now, trying to duplicate this concept. I have to think some are less expensive and easier to use.
7) LoveSac’s accessories are the bomb. We have one of the ottoman table top thingies and a few of the arm coasters. Amazing. I love the idea of the wireless charging spots, but haven’t pulled the trigger on that.
Another vote for Macy's. I have the Radley, it doesn't say in any of the care info but I take my covers off twice a year and wash them, still looks almost new and we got it in 2017.
