Yeah, beerlover, I honestly think it was crap that your kid got in trouble at all. Isn’t he like 6? Obviously it was good the teacher spoke to him about it, but I don’t think it was right to immediately take away his recess.
Anyway, I’m glad you talked w him and he knows better now.
He's almost 8. I am not real happy about her taking away his recess either, but we also understand that she probably felt like she had to do SOMETHING. The additional information about the other student getting him to say it didn't come out until the afternoon.
I did send her a message with what he shared with me and just said I know that you can't discuss other students but this is what he is saying happened and he didn't say it out of nowhere.

((( fluffycookie,))) I really hope you get to see someone today and get some instant relief.
icedcoffee, I'm behind so I'm sorry to re-hash this again today. Good for you for giving them the proverbial finger and taking a breather. I'm so mad on your behalf!!
rubytue, my head just exploded for you. Honest to goodness I'm ok with people going through some kind of formal screening before getting meds (and yes I know how long it takes on many levels) if it means people are getting meds who need them/not creating a shortage etc., but if patients (women) will just be blown off anyway then remove the frigging barriers! I have so much more to rant about, but I think we all have the same rants.
I'm also finding a lot of the adult friends posting about their new ADHD testing and treatment journeys are women. We're all of the age where "only boys had ADHD", but it's crazy that we've had to wait this long just to get blown off. It's not even a stigma thing, it's an awareness thing. People joke about self-diagnosing via social media, but sometimes I think that's the only place that addresses a lot of undiagnosed, untreated women.
I'm sure no one's reading this thread anymore but I just had an update that DS's teacher did investigate further after I sent her a message this morning and spoke with the other student and what he had told me was true; the other student started spelling the word out first and DS just said it. The other student received consequences also. I do feel better knowing DS didn't just say this word out of nowhere, and that we were able to have a conversation about it so that it doesn't happen again. A little annoyed about the way everything went down here but its done.
