Wins: we got $1,000 more in trade value than I expected. the dealership was willing to sell their 2022 demo model which has all the upgraded features, for less than a new base model. still has all the warranties, etc. there is no delivery wait time. skipped paying a lot of the brand new car fees.
Loss: interest rates in Canada on used cars are currently at 9-10% even with impeccable credit. we are financing some and will have it paid off in the next year or so.
Ideally we would have saved for another 12-18 months and bought in cash, but our current car forced our hand. I think we came out better than expected in the whole transaction.
W: Got a dress at an outlet store for $16. The original price tag suggested $189. Plus got two cheap ones for $8 each. (I don't need these but can't help myself when it is such a good deal! Now I need cute shoes!)
L: Will be replacing a couple car tires very soon.

W: went to Kohl’s yesterday to spend my $10 Kohl’s cash, which almost always involves spending much more than the amount of the Kohl’s cash. Found a hairbrush, a novelty dish sponge and a pajama top on clearance for a total of $10.23. Out of pocket cost $0.23.
L: my DC16 failed to find a summer job because they blew it off when they were told they needed to start looking in March. Now I’m spending $1000 for them to spend 4 weeks at a camp as a counselor in training, because I’ll be damned if the reward for not getting a job is spending all summer at home in a life of leisure. Teenagers are hard.
L: I am quitting my full-time job, which obviously will affect our bottom line a lot. And H and I were just getting used to having real money for the first time in our 20 years of living together.
We also found out our boiler is slowly failing, which is kinda good in a way, as we've wanted to put in mini splits since we moved here four years ago. But that's a lot of $$$ we wish we weren't spending!
W: H has been offered a job teaching coding classes at night next fall, which will take a bit of the edge off.

Loses- I took a day of unpaid to take care of my dad because I didn't want to use PTO- then my mom ended up staying home and not needing me. She did feel bad and venmo me $ for dinner that night!
I thought my cat had ringworm and took her to the vet. She doesn't. $80 for the visit. oh well! Cheaper than paying for the visit AND meds!
Wins: I am dog sitting this week and they left me an extra $100 to treat myself to dinner!
I got my carpets, and an arm chair cleaned today. The cost was much lower than I was anticipating. SCORE!
