Agreed! There is also a chance of 2 Iowa house seats flipping from R to D and that would be huge!!!! We need the legislature too if we want to make lasting change, not just the presidency!! 🤞🤞🤞

And also, the higher the margin of victory for the electoral college, the less likely it is that Dump can claim fraud and try to win by contesting the election results. It all matters!!!!

Exactly! If it’s just Georgia that’s close, 🍊 will concentrate his resources there. If it’s many states that are close, especially ones they didn’t plan on like Iowa, resources will be spread to thin to get traction.

The SNL skit gave me life. Her big smile was just so amazing. It definitely boosted my spirits about the election. Of course then I went to Trader Joe’s and started tearing up while checking out so I’m an emotional mess.

I’m feeling pretty confident that Cruz is going to lose. No one likes him and no one has forgotten 2021. We will see.

I'm not as optimistic as you all, but I LOVE that so many Collin Allred commercials show the clip of Cruz at the airport leaving his state as we sat cold and in the dark. 

DH thinks Cruz's team is worried because they brougnt in Abbott (gov) into his commercials late in the campaign.

Me too. I remember going out for a champagne brunch on Saturday and people were celebrating in my red area! Possibly called late Friday, Idk, but Saturday seems right.

I honestly don’t know how she looks so vibrant and has this level of energy at this stage of the game. I’m in awe. I mostly just folded laundry today and I’m so ready for bed.

I agree. The woman is 60! She also looks much younger, like someone in her forties. She clearly takes very good care of herself. eta: so it doesn't get twisted, I'm not speaking of attractiveness, more about health and vitality.

What really struck me was the look on Maya Rudolph, she just looked star struck and amazed that Kamala, the next president of the US, was sitting across from her. And it just really reminds you that even stars are human with emotions and can fan girl just like us. 🥰

1. My parents and aunts and uncles and gpa are all old people in Iowa and they are all PUMPED to vote for Kamala. At least a few previously voted for Trump.

PA was a big part of the problem since that was the first presidential race that mail in ballots were approved and election law says that cannot be counted until election day (can't remember if it's when polls open or close) so it's going to take days again to count them

I am still a page behind, but can confirm. We were walking with my parents who had come up for the weekend, and all the sudden all the people on the path were shouting to each other that it was called for Biden. This unlocked a memory.

Can we also all agree that six months or less campaigns are the way to go? She has done a really incredible job with her campaign and I think people will study how she and her team approached this. Really remarkable on so many levels and I think the intensity of a shorter campaign really just works and generates so much enthusiasm.

 I had the same thoughts! Even though you know Maya was aware she'd be sitting across from the table from Kamala, the emotions were very genuine. It was a powerful moment, even though it was only SNL.

Our elections seasons in Canada are a minimum of 36 days and a maximum of 50 days. Obviously there are differences in the government structures, but not so much that the US couldn't learn a thing or two.

The US still needs to primary candidates to narrow it down to the top for each party, but that should be a max of 2-3 months (April/May/June?) and every state votes on the same day (with advanced voting/absentee options of course). None of this long ass season of primaries. Then run the campaigns for a few months and vote again in October.

Barely 60, but she's 60. She and Tim Walz are the same age. About seven months apart. His birthday is the first week of April. I know this because he is exactly one week younger than I am. She and Tim are the same age.  She and I are the same age (well, she's about six or seven months younger than I am.) She is a bundle of put-together energy and effervescence; I'm a falling apart mess. (I say this two days after my second oral surgery in two months, and with my foot in a plastic boot because I apparently broke it back in June but the break was missed in the search for other medical issues and possible causes.)

But then, she only litigated criminals and legislated stuff and Vice Presidented for four years. He taught high schoolers. THAT would age anyone. lol.

Does anyone who has been to the large outdoor rallies have info to share? This may be a stupid question, but I assume this is different than the rallies in an arena where there are capacity limitations. I can probably just get there at any time and be able to join the crowd (even if I will just be able to see a projection screen or hear a speaker?)

I imagine it will be like any of the large ticketed events on the Parkway (like concerts). They will put up a security perimeter and you need a ticket to enter and will need to go through a metal detector. You will be able to hear and see it from outside but you won't be able to attend without a ticket.

Thanks! Not sure why I didn't think of the parkway concerts - that makes total sense. I got the "more details" email and think I should be fine with timing - it sounds like it is starting a little later than I originally thought.

I know what you mean but I remember that by Wednesday morning, it was just a waiting game but we knew what the outcome would be. I recall feeling incredibly sure on Wednesday.
