I'll weigh in though I don't wear enough make up probably to qualify
Primer is a must, I'm surprised that more people haven't said that but at least for me, it makes a HUGE difference. I use the green elf or smashbox
I actually tried the Laura Geller baked powder foundation, this actually works really well for me, it's light coverage for sure but really easy to use so for me and my mimalist style, it works well
Finally I buy a lot of Tarte especially when they have their 7 for 63$ dollar deal, some things are a bust...but the maracuja tinted moisturizer was a hit for me

I use the Tarte tinted primer and really like the matte finish.
My skin care is all Biossance. You can get sample sets and they always have sales if you're signed up with them.
I lean towards tinted moisturizers and concealer. Lys Beauty is a black woman owned business that has some nice clean makeup (I really like their concealer and contour stick). Elf camo concealer is pretty good as well.
I use Azelaic acid which works better for my redness and acne than retinol A. It’s an RX though. I’m surprised more of you who have redness don’t use this?
Because you have to treat what's causing the redness. Different things irritate the skin. My skin became very sensitive to certain products with age so I had to find the right products that work for me. Azeliac acid treats acne and rosacea, which I don't have.
Sorry I guess I was assuming that redness was rosacea not irritation/something else.

Oh, I hope that didn't come off snappy. I was just trying to explain.
I highly rec checking out Jones Road (by Bobbi Brown). I've been using it for a couple of years now and it's fabulous for maturing skin.
I love Jones Road. I use the Miracle Balm and Face Pencils. I don’t love their foundation. It’s a little too thick. For my face in addition to the Jones Road products I use the Trader Joe’s Supergoop facial sunscreen dupe, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, Diorshow mascara, and occasionally the Merit Beauty foundation stick when I’m going out or want a little extra on.
I absolutely love L’Oreal Hydrogenius serum. But I have really dry skin. It gives me an instant glow that makes me look way younger than I am (50). And I like the Hydrogenius moisturizer with SPF okay, though their stuff in a jar without SPF is really much better and I can buy it for pretty cheap at Costco. I got Ren Radiance dark circle under eye cream in a Fab, Fit, Fun box and that stuff is amazing. Like it magically makes my dark circles much lighter and tightens up my skin. It’s expensive (I’m a cheap drug store cosmetics girl almost exclusively) but it’s totally worth $45 for a bottle that lasts me about 4 months or so. I like the Cover Girl Olay foundation with SPF, but I use it more like concealer than foundation. It goes under my eyes for dark circles and on my forehead, nose, and chin, where I have very minor rosacea.
I used the Il Makiage, and it was literally the worst thing I ever put on my face. It looked awesome when I put it on, but it felt SUPER heavy. Within an hour, it was completely cracked and in my pores and wrinkles. I don’t have big pores, but this gave me huge crater-looking pores. I don’t even have bad wrinkles, but this gave them to me.
Now I’m off to order snail poop. And go look at the Baked stuff again because I’ve almost ordered it a gazillion times but haven’t. Maybe because the Il Makiage was such a bust.

I bit late but at nearly 50 I’ve realized I need a bit more coverage and I found Cover Girl’s Simply Ageless Hydro Fresh Tint to give me the coverage I need - bonus it contains .5% bakuchiol (similar to retinol). Otherwise I’m a 5-10 min makeup girl - blush, powder eyeshadow stick, eyeliner THINLY along my lower lashes only!, mascara, and lipstick.
I use Neutrogena face wash products (deep clean cream cleanser at night, Amber liquid face wash in the am) and Oil of Olay moisturizer w SPF 30 in the morning as well.
