I know someone did, but I think maybe they don't anymore?
I have 2 high back booster seats that are expired, and I was googling how to dispose of them. One result said to recycle them, and said that Target recycles all types of seats, but it was unclear whether this was just during their trade-in events or not.
I know they aren't having a trade-in event right now, but I also am not looking to get a coupon since I don't need any other baby gear. I was just hoping to recycle the seats instead of trashing them. So I was wondering if Target recycles car/booster seats year round if you bring them in.
And if no one knows that, any other suggestions on places that might recycle them? Our local recycling does not take them.
I am at Target at least once or twice a week as it is the closest store to me, so I will ask at customer service the next time I'm there and there is no line if I don't get an answer here and update too.

They don't recycle year-round. They had an event around Earth Day in April when I recycled mine. Google tells me they may do another event sometime in Fall, but there was no specific date.
Nope. Only during the events. If you bring them in IF they even accept them they'll just go into the dumpster. You can check with your local dump/recycling center. I know ours will take car seats year round, you just have to get them there yourself (trash services won't pick them up).
EDIT: did work for target, 12+ years ago. I wasn't in a position where I ever dealt with the trade in events though.
You can cut the straps and offer them on buy nothing for when the event happens. People love to hold onto them for that lol.
They don't have straps (they are high back boosters), and I did post them on Buy Nothing saying they were expired and posting the manufacture info. saying they are only good for a trade-in event, and I had a bunch of people post saying they wanted them to use, so clearly people don't read/don't understand, so I deleted the post because I don't want someone to take them and use them unsafely.
My fault for holding on to them for so long when DD has been out of a booster for 2 years now, but dh decided he wants to buy a new car by the end of the month, and we're keeping his old car for ds, so we are in clean out the garage ASAP mode.
I saved mine for the trade-in event, and just held on to them until it was time to drop them off. I couldn’t find anything else to do with them other than trashing them. I think Target is like the only retailer really doing anything about old car seats.
