Dammit. I would have been happy with this if not for the speculation. Actually I would have preferred George Bush but figured he wouldn’t be the closing surprise. 😂
LOL, that’s my fault in this thread. I was so sucked into the speculation! But, honestly, it was perfect as it was.
My favorite part of this thread was you announcing your departure…and then posting again less than 10 minutes later! LOL! Love your excitement for all things Harris right now! Keep it up!
I’m not quite sure how to articulate this, but the beauty of the diversity of the families on stage at the end just took my breath away. White, Black, Asian. Old, young. People of different physical abilities. THIS is our country. ❤️🤍💙
We all owe President Biden a debt of gratitude. This was magic.
I don’t think I had ever had the urge to write a politician a thank you letter until he announced he wasn’t running for re-election. Truly an incredible act of selflessness.

We are having a mini family reunion this weekend with H’s family in Central IL. H’s sister and her husband and H and I are all liberal, but everyone else is conservative.
My BIL and I especially are extremely vocal about our stances and H’s immediate family has learned to not try us, but I’m not sure the rest of the family knows.
H’s mom isn’t a Trumper - she just lives in a very, very small town (think 600 people) so has evolved to stay quiet and I suspect she will tell them to keep their mouths shut, but if BIL and I need to swoop in like Kamala avenging angels, I know we will.

Never in my childhood could I have imagined seeing an Indian auntie in a sari on a national stage hugging the woman who might very well be our next President.
I was a puddle through the start of the speech. My mom had her own extraordinary journey from India to the US. My parents settled on the other side of the Bay in SF. I became a prosecutor for many of the same reasons VP Harris did. And my parents actually met her by chance in a small setting at the very beginning of her political career! They'd be so proud of her if they were still alive to see how far she's gone. Kamala is the embodiment of the dreams so many of our parents held for us when they decided to immigrate to the US. I get so emotional when I think about that and about how she truly committed herself to being a career public servant.

And now I'm so excited to watch the final night - I won't be able to until tomorrow as I'm working later today and then hosting a work drinks gathering after (with possible dinner to follow). I'm so excited for all of you and for my family in the States. I really hope the Dems get everything!
