I had some plans with a friend this evening that just fell through, so I bought myself a ticket to go see It Ends With Us. I've never gone by myself to watch a movie...I hope I don't feel too weird about it.
SusanBAnthony, I'm car shopping and looking at leasing an EV. Several manufacturers are running leasing specials, but no dealerships near me even have any of the models that I'm looking at on the lot. I'm supposed to go to one tomorrow to test drive, they don't currently have any in stock but are allegedly getting some in today. I'd be perfectly fine ordering one, but I need to be able to actual test drive the model that I'm looking at to even know if that's the one I want. So frustrating. I had done an online inquiry and a dealership that isn't particularly close to my house called me yesterday and asked me to come in today, but I looked online and they have zero in stock. Like, wth.
We have an electric vehicle (not leased) but we regret it BIG time. We had to install the fast charger plug (1.5K) and our kids are in travel sports and we often have to drive 2 hours for an away game and need to find/schedule time to charge. If you never have to drive far for extended periods your situation may be different, but we hate it. Even when we find charger stations there can be a wait of a few cars at a time and charging takes 20+ minutes

Yesterday I chaperoned DS2's field trip to an amusement park and they had bumper boats with water shooting devices. So fun. I love his teachers, especially his science teacher. She was dressed in school colors, even her eye shadow was orange and every time I saw her she was carrying another prize she won or eating cotton candy etc. So cool for the kids seeing the teachers having a good time.
DD had a well visit this AM to get some vaccines she was due for. We got takeout and I brought her home after, she is in her pjs and loving being out of school early.
I routinely drive DS1's teammates to/from practices. DS2 has a meet tonight and normally DH or I will go and the other picks up DS1 from practice or vice versa if it's DS1 who has a meet. This AM I was like, you know what why don't you ask for a ride home DS1? I don't expect tit for tat, but I'm so glad he has a ride so now DH and I can go together and I think we can both go tomorrow night for DS1's meet. So much more fun together.
Picking out exterior colors for the new house and the realtor who came to appraise our current house messaged me yesterday that she has a couple interested in our home. We aren't planning to list till after we move in the spring, but this couple is willing to move into an apt if they sell their house before ours is ready. So going to do some deep cleaning this week. They cannot come for a showing till next week.

I love love love going to the movies solo. I try to find a seat where I’m not close to anyone. I don’t share my popcorn or soda. No annoying smacking of the popcorn. No one to talk during the movie. No worries of restroom breaks. It’s amazing!
How many times are you allowed to hit snooze before it's acceptable for your spouse/SO to kill you?
Once. Then you’re getting shoved out of bed.
Yup, this. And I'm only OK with that every couple of weeks max, otherwise it should never be used unless you sleep alone! It's so rude and inconsiderate unless you're both on exactly the same page about it.
I had a very inconsiderate college roommate WRT this and I'm still not over it hah

Thank you for that perspective. Most of our driving is local, say <1hr at the most. For the rare times that we would need to travel outside of a smaller range, we will still have one gas-powered vehicle if need be. I don't mind installing the charger, especially because I'm likely going to end up with a second electric vehicle once my son starts driving. But I might even wait a while to do it because there is a charging station less than 1mi from my house.
wildrice I cannot believe your sister is still dealing with these awful health issues!! I am really glad she moved in with your folks. fluffycookie my H does that too and it drives me up a wall. Fortunately it is only for part of the year, and after a few days of it, I have trained my body to sleep through it.

I love going to the movies alone! H is a good movie partner because he understands theater etiquette but I swear to god even my friends want to exchange little looks and comments and I’m very much just a “shhhh just watch the movie!” person lol so going solo is great!
It starts off tasting like lettuce, and then morphs into a generic ground beef taco taste. It's bizarre, and none of us can stop eating them because we keep trying to identify how these chips taste like this. We're going to end up eating the entire bag even though we don't particularly like them.

MH set his alarm for 6am this morning and it went off every 9 minutes until 7:30 when he shut it off because he decided he was going to WFH and slept until 9am. I am an awful sleeper so if it goes off more than twice I am up. He on the other hand falls back asleep in between the snoozes and is one of those people who is out the second his head hits the pillow. I am very salty about it today because I had an awful nights sleep. I hurt my hip over the weekend and needed to sleep with a pillow under it so I couldn't roll over on it so I kept waking up.
IMO, zero. Snooze is rude as fuck when you are sharing sleeping quarters with another person. Admittedly, I am an extremely light sleeper and it's rare I can fall back asleep after being woken up.
Today was DS's last day before 7th grade so we started off with a therapy appointment for his anxiety (very mindful), then went out to lunch at a local restaurant that is also a root beer bottling line. Then we went to a take on an escape room, which was more of an adventure/puzzle game based on Indiana Jones, which we won, and then to a local novelty place that sells mostly stuff online but does open its doors to shop its warehouse. DS got a world's biggest stress ball and world's smallest violin. I bought four novelty sodas for a happy hour later this week - bacon, pb&j, apple pie and extreme sour - to see who is daring enough to try them. I cannot believe how quickly the summer went.
Alright, who is buying pantaloons for a Western that doesn't exist?
For some reason, the background makes me think more of Outlander. New season of Outlander is coming out this fall, who is getting these pantaloons for their watch party, lol?! (Although white is very impractical for fall, seems like having these in the spring collection would have been more appropriate.)
I ended up taking a day off yesterday (I don't have sick time so it was PTO) and slept in, then napped a long time. I finally feel human again. My therapist friend had posted a meme about talking their clients through getting rest and sleep when your mental health is down, which is amazing, but tell employers that we need literal mental health days at least twice a year. I miss having separate sick time to catch up on sleep because I get so tired it gets unsafe to drive a car.
Finally, I saw It Ends With Us by myself a couple of weeks ago and didn't mind being at the movies by myself. If anything I was almost annoyed by younger (tweens) sitting near me making a little noise and getting up a few times, but overall it was easier than hearing DH complain he hated the movie, or trying to line up schedules with a friend.
We drove to another city to wander around and ended up buying some art and then saw a sign for a potato chip factory and went to their company store and got wacky flavored chips.
It has never been this cool in August that I can remember! My birthday week is normally steamy!
Our casual backyard wedding reception is next weekend (intimate ceremony on Saturday evening, party on Sunday), so I'm scouring Amazon for all the last minute necessities - plastic wine glasses, tablecloths, table decor, etc. We did rent a tent, but I have my fingers and toes crossed for good weather. We live right on the Chesapeake Bay, so beautiful days are stunning but crummy days really suck, lol.
Have fun! I'd love if you could report back on what went awesome, what you forgot, that kind of thing.
I absolutely will! But I really do mean casual - we're having about 25 guests, the menu is BBQ and we'll have backyard games set up. We're calling it an "I Do BBQ" instead of a reception, which is a bit cheesy but also kinda cute, lol.

I'm seriously considering doing the same. I've texted a few friends to see if anyone wants to go, but no one seems too interested. My SIL wants to, but she's out of town the next few weekends and we haven't been able to coordinate our schedules during the week. I also have a $5 Fandango credit that expires this week, so I think I'm going to just do it.

Our's is super casual too! 50 ish people in the backyard for jambalaya and gumbo.

It’s like the Three Course Gum in Willy Wonka!
Ha! I made the same joke to my coworkers, "I hope we don't turn into blueberries."

DH often does for an hour. Plus he snores. We have had separate bedrooms while kids were little and I think he wants back in my room soon, but I can not deal with the alarm snoozing!

I lived in a suite junior year with 8 girls, 6 of whom had singles. They all left for spring break but I had hockey so I was still there. One of them left her alarm set for 6am, blaring in her locked room and she was out of the country. It was so freaking annoying. I had to stay with someone else eventually.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
L is auditioning for the school play today after school. She learned yesterday, there would be cuts. If she is cut from this too, idk what she'll do. She needs this win.
She will get that win! I am putting that out into the universe, from one anxious theater kid mom to another.
30ish kids auditioned for 12-15 roles.
I'm feeling perhaps irrationally annoyed that the director chose a play with so few roles, but there may not be great plays with bigger casts. Idk.
She put down to work crew if she doesn't get cast, but will be disappointed.

We had 65 audition for 30 spots. Cast lists come out Friday night. This was the 1st time my kid audioned and there's a lot of clicky-ness in this particular theater, so we'll see what happens.
