They are such deplorable humans. I hope this pushes even more veterans/service members and their families away from supporting TFG. How disrespectful to the employees but also those buried there.

What is wild to me is that his supporters will spin this as him showing real patriotism despite the fact that this was not a formal event AND he was grossly disrespectful of the gravesite and cemetery employees.
I've added the pictures that were taken that day, and how weird they are. I saw these going around social media yesterday, and then the altercation was reported today.
H and I live in a very red area of northern Michigan. Not the UP but up north. The flags and signs of the orange menace had been largely non existent until the shooting of his ear incident. Then everything came out of the woodwork. Boats flags, signs, etc…. When we were coming home the other day I saw two signs…one homemade and one “official” looking sign but both “Veterans Against Trump”. My heart rejoiced all the way home. I was shocked to see the signs near here and thrilled that people see through that traitor/grifting piece of shit. I hope more people see how dangerous he is and keep speaking out.
ALSO just because some family members did the thumbs up with him doesn't make his campaign photographing it 1. Legal, 2. Decent, or 3. Respectful of the occasion or location.
I have wack ass family members, and I have not wack ass family members. So does everyone. The fact that some folks cheesed it up with him doesn't make it okay.

That was the other part that made me mad. Yes, they had the permission of the families. They did not have official permission from the cemetery itself, which the *actual* permission you need to secure.
And regardless of whether or not they were acting disrespectfully (they were), NOBODY is allowed to take photographs in that section except cemetery staff, and campaign-related photography and activities aren’t allowed anywhere in the cemetery AT ALL. So fuck them.
Also, it was Trump’s deal that caused us to exit Afghanistan, and his plan we were carrying out (though if memory serves me correctly, Biden moved the exit up a little) so if the messy departure was anyone’s fault, it’s his.

The picture of him giving a thumbs up at a grave is utterly disgusting and disgraceful.
Prior to the event, he told his personal staff could accompany him, not campaign. He brought campaign staff anyway. Prior to the event he was told photo and video was okay at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier but not at Section 60. He completely disregarded that. Pentagon officials were worried he would turn this into a political event and they were right.
And there are other solders’ graves in these photos. I read somewhere(can’t remember where) that the family of one of those soldiers is extremely upset that their loved one’s grave is part of this disgusting photo op.

I'm seeing reports he possibly broke federal law. Is it law or protocol/policy? I know waters can get muddy when it comes to military.
Felon commits more crimes before sentencing. Throw the book at this disgustingly disrespectful criminal!
Eta a thought just occurred to me that in many places like going through security or immigration or myriad federal environments, photography is forbidden, and violating that is a crime. A federal one. So I'm guessing this holds the weight of federal law.

Has there been a resident more disrespectful toward the military?
I have an internal battle waging over trump vs people like nixon and bush. The former is obviously disgusting. The latter got thousands of Americans (plus countless others) unnecessarily killed and destroyed so many many more lives than the ones lost needlessly.
I feel shitty saying that at least bush and nixon appeared to appreciate and honor the sacrifices and didn't actively denigrate service. But at the same time, I'd rather be called a loser than dead or mained or mentally scarred. I truly don't know what to think other than trump should absolutely never be allowed anywhere near the presidency nor a national cemetary. I hate him so much.
I can' believe he found a military family willing to pose with him & take him in as a guest.
Trump's team is threatening to release a video of the incident.
Also, it was a female employee that they ran roughshod over and pushed ou of the way.
--------- Cemetery officials "told Trump's team that he could come in his personal capacity and bring personal aides, but not campaign staff," the Washington Post reports (gift link).
The cemetery employee "tried to enforce the rules as provided to her by blocking Trump's team from bringing cameras to the graves of U.S. service members killed in recent years," The Post adds. "A larger male campaign aide insisted the camera was allowed and pushed past the cemetery employee, leaving her shocked."
If the tapes made them look good, they would have already been released.
Reminds me of that time Trump tried to bribe the president of Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden during a phone call and the whole GOP was like RELEASE THE TRANSCRIPT and Trump was like RELEASE THE TRANSCRIPT and then they released the transcript and it was even worse than initially reported.
No link because it was video but I have seen reports that while the employee filed an incident report, she has declined to press charges out of fear for her safety from his supporters.
“For a despicable individual to physically prevent President Trump’s team from accompanying him to this solemn event is a disgrace and does not deserve to represent the HOLLOWED grounds of Arlington National Cemetery,” LaCivita said. "Whoever this individual is spreading these lies are dishonoring the men and women of our armed forces, and they are disrespecting everyone who paid the price for defending our country.”
